Lawdwaz
Ship N Shore. It really fries my ass when you spend good money for a meal and the service is terrible. I don't want to get into it now but needless to say I'm very unhappy. My wife and I are both in the service business so know all about service. They can kiss my azz. Next time we cross county lines for fish it'll be to go to Brauer's. I know not many of you guys know either place but a few of you will. I'd write a bad review but you need to have a Google account and I'm not interested in a Gmail account. Screw it...................
Zem18
I don't know either place but have had it happen near me as well and it sucks. You take the family out for a nice relaxing time and good meal and then the service just bites. Then on the ride home it is all you talk about and say to yourself, man we should of went to eat (insert another restaurant). Sorry you had a bad evening. robw
leave a review at Yelp http://www.yelp.com/biz/ship-n-shore-lockport Not sure if this is the restaurant you were at, but yelp is pretty easy to use. I check every restaurant out there before we go, just to see what people think, and haven't been steered wrong yet.
Doc
There's a few TV programs that will really give you an idea of how bad some restaurants and bars can get when it comes to service and food quality .....lol. Yeah, I know these are heavily staged, but most of what goes on in these programs are things that I have seen happen, to one extent or another, in some restaurants over the years. Usually the tip-off is the parking lot. If it is full, usually the service and the food is good.

Lawdwaz
What type of tip did you leave?? Cash Oh, how much? The check with the sales tax was 72 so I left $82 on the table. As mad as I was it just isn't in me to stiff anyone.
2012_taco
I haven't been to the s & s in years. You want a good fish fry go to Al E Opps at geneses and harris hill. They are a bbq place but we've gone there for fish and my wife says it is the best she's had.
ny hunter
If the service was bad I would have left 5..If the food was bad I would have left a better tip.its not the waitress fault the food sucks..If you go back again and its still bad thats it I would not spend another dime there. wooly
Bummer about that joint. I really like the fish fry and service at the Varysburg hotel. Locally, I like the VFW frys in Arcade. They serve up some real whales! Another good fry at the casino in Batavia. Never regretted the tips left at any of those places.
landtracdeerhunter
Guess the Ship is starting to take on water. Know the service was a flush, but how was the food? Went there couple of years ago, didn't think the food was all that great ither. Scooped out of a pail dinners.

You shoulda left $7.20 to prove the point you were dissatisfied and only gave 10%. I don't understand bad service. If you don't want to work in the industry, then get a different job. When I go to dinner, I know I'm paying more than if I cooked the same meal myself and I know the $40 bottle of wine is $9 at wine shop down the road. It's the experience and the service that makes going out to dinner a nice experience. I expect my water to be re-filled without ever asking for it. The restaurants that view service as a priority are the ones that last. I too, get pissed when I don't get good service at an expensive place. sits in trees
The restaurants down my way are booming with business, that is the good ones. Word spreads fast about the not so good ones.
Doc
Generally, I will file away bad service and food and see to it that I never go to that place again. Not my wife. If the food is bad, she'll send it back to the kitchen with a demand that it be cooked right. If service is slow, she'll let the waitress know about it. If it's bad enough, there is a request to talk to the manager.
ants
I almost hate to say it..but I have had very, very few bad experiences in restaurants, and we eat out a lot. The bad times I have had, I just make a mental note and don't go back. Unless the waitress/waiter is a total zero I tip as usual regardless of the food. If their service is bad…heres a buck
jjb4900
what was bad about the service, was it the wait staff or kitchen staff that made it a bad experience?............a lot of times the wait staff can only do so much if the kitchen workers suck. Jeremy K
I guess I know not to venture over there for any food . I have been getting killer fish frys from the knights of Columbus in north tonawanda
greg54
The patio there is infested with mosquitos in the summer time. I was there few years ago, got bit up and never returned. And the canal water smelled like a sewer lingering in the air.
hunter49
Boston Hotel on Genesee st. Lancaster has a good fish fry along with other food & fast service. Hint- go where the crowds are = good food. I have no affiliation with this rest. just eat there!

The hostess wasn't very pleasant when she sat us..........Between seatings she sat in a tree watching everybody else work. The waitress was a sarcastic pork chop, she visited with us the first time after we had been sitting for 15 minutes. During our entire time there, she never asked if we wanted another drink, NEVER. I had to ask the staff for 4 waters and they never refilled them. The waitress never apologized for the delay in the food (70 minutes) We ordered an appetizer that was right out of the freezer and into the microwave......Uggh. Never stopped back to see how we liked our dinners. The German potato salad was horrid, coleslaw good and fish fair. Did I mention 70 minutes (one hour and 10 minutes) from ordering until the meal showed up?
Lawdwaz
It is what it is. Yesterday was my wifes birthday, she wanted to take the kids and go for fish. We don't take them much anymore as they are always going different directions as they get older. The Ship N Shore has been around for many years, maybe 50? We messed up but who'd a thunk it? Oh well, I was mad because it ruined a special night. If it was free it wouldn't have mattered as the damage was done. Life goes on............ Happy Easter!!! philoshop
Not a restaurant, but Hayes on Harlem just south of Kensington always had the tastiest fish around. We'd get takeout from there every friday for lunch. My woodworking shop was at the corner of Kensington and Main, next to Phillips Bros. Wednesday was a Thanksgiving dinner from a place a few blocks south of there near the highway. Turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy. All fresh, and cheap. I always swore my next shop purchase would be a bunch of Barco-loungers. Can't think of the name of the diner or even the street right now. Sorry for the sidetrack Lawdwaz, more eating than dining. Just reminiscing a bit.
ants
70 minutes? No way I would have lasted…. I've never even come close to waiting that long, to be served, in any restaurant. I would have left, the wife would have bitched at me for being old and impatient, the ride home would have been very tense and quiet and we wouldn't have spoken for a day or two, but no way I would have waited that long. Hats off to ya….

They have a great restaurant on Main St (Rt 5) about half way between Transit Rd (Rt 78) and where Sheridan ends at Main. Awesome................................. McPartlands, Wherle and South Forest? or Charlie The Butcher, Wherle and Cayuga? When did you have the wood shop? The fellow that was in there most recently (Dave, I think) pasted away fairly suddenly last year. Although I only met him once or twice he seemed to be a good guy. I have lived within a half mile of the wood shop for the past 23 years. Edited April 20, 2014 by Lawdwaz
