Northcountryman
I know Im not !! Still havent selected a spot to setup my climber at a new spot been scouting but I do have it narrowed down to a couple areas I like. Also, I still bring my gear up to camp, get some supplies like hot paks , doe piss and scent spray; how about you? Ready to go?
wolc123
It all depends on how the upcoming “last weekend” of crossbow season goes. If it’s anything like this past one, then it’s looking like I’m going to be hunting our home farm this year. I had been hunting my parents farm, around 20 miles away, for the last (7) years (except (2) years ago when a blizzard stranded me in southern CA). Last year, I didn’t even see a deer over there, on opening day of gun, nor did I last Sunday afternoon with my crossbow. There’s been a lot more deer action around home this year, where I have a much better selection of foodplots available to them including some excellent field corn.

First-light
Yeah I'm ready. We lost one oldtimer this year which will put a damper on things. 88 years still going strong and had an accident in his barn. Doing something he shouldnt of be doing. My buddy Steve is a detective and is on a huge case, he can't make it. My camp usually has 6 hunters we will have 5. We will have a 14 year old up here hunting with his grandfather! Weather looks real sketchy next week. Stands are set everyone knows where they are going.

We have our stands figured out for the opener and will have the woods pretty much covered . No idea who might be hunting on the adjacent properties . Being optimistic .

Steve D
I will be sitting out again this year. This will make my third missed season. Hopeful for next year. I hope everyone has a SAFE and enjoyable season and I look forward to reading all the stories. There have been some really nice bucks taken in the state so far and hopefully you will all get your chance at one. ENJOY
airedale
These days my opener is the northern zone, I sure do miss the old days of slug slinging in the south, had some real good times and killed plenty of deer. Been over 35 years since hunting the south zone. Almost all of my old hunting companions are gone now. Good luck to those hitting the south. fasteddie
I got out one of my Blaze Orange vests to wear over my jacket . No sense in wearing camo and taking a chance on getting shot . I bought a 20 ga Savage bolt action shotgun to use in Monroe County but use my NEF 25-06 single shot rifle in the other areas that I hunt . Git 'r done !
