Anyone Hunting Thursday?

Seeing I just got my wheels back, told the g/f I am hunting Turkey Day morning. Her reply was "Great, that's when you'll get a deer and miss dinner."

I don't have one issue missing a bird dinner in lue of having to skin and butcher a deer. LOL

 

Anyone else hunting the holiday?

Shoot some ducks in the AM, do the family thing and eat in the afternoon, jump on the road to the SZ property in the late afternoon.

I hunt every thanksgiving morning,its as much a tradition as opening day!!!

To me, Thanksgiving is as close to a perfect holiday as there is. Hunt in the morning, come home to family and friends for a gut stuffing meal, and then watch football. Plus, get paid to do it.

I always do Thanksgiving morning. I consider it lucky. I have killed a few good bucks on Thanksgiving morning. Three years ago I sat until 11 and decided to take the long way back to my truck. About 1/4 of the way there I shot a big 9 as he and 2 other good bucks chased a doe, out of the thick crap and into the open area,  about 30yrds in front of me. Nothing but pure luck, but I'll take it.

I plan to sit the morning on public land, hoping the cold and possible snow will keep the 30 hunters per acre indoors.

If the deer come, and I get the shot, it is what it is.

Not me . We have 22 people coming for dinner and I feel guilty leaving with the wife to do everything .

I'll be out as usual. I don't think we are going anywhere so I don't have to worry about ruining dinner like when I shot that buck at 3:00 a few years ago... a mile from the road. .. and I unknowingly had the turkey fryer in my truck. That went over like a turd in a punch bowl.

T-day morning hunt is a tradition. Hunt til 10ish and head in for family time.

Now I may have to,it's been tradition for me too,but I have to pick up,my 92y/o Mom at 12:30 . It'll be a rush to hunt get home shower change and out the door by 11:45 .

We'll see how tomorrow and Tue. Hunts go...

Shot two does thanksgiving morning last year and plan on being out this year.

Yes for sure its tradition for me!! Always deer hunt on Thanksgiving. It is almost like opening day all over again only better. Just something special about harvesting a deer on Thanksgiving. I am very thankful to able to hunt........ Here's a pic of my 2012 Thanksgiving morning buck. Not a trophy to most but it was a great hunt lots of activity in a perfect setting with perfect weather conditions. Truly a memorable one for sure!!

Got the whole family coming over for turkey dinner but won't stop me from doing my favorite thing looking forward to filling my tag... Good luck all and Happy Thanksgiving as well
