maytom
You have to wonder, why do these singers, who are filthy rich, die at such an early age?

Elmo
Drugs and alcohol. Lived it up way too hard in the early years. Without a doubt. Another star I wanted to see live that I didn't get a chance to. RIP.

Elmo
Prince was a better genius than some people even realize. Aside from all the hits he's made, he also wrote songs for other people who probably wouldn't have ever made it if it wasn't for him. He wrote "Nothing Compares 2 U" for Sinead O'Connor and "Manic Monday" for the Bangles among others.

jjb4900
You have to wonder, why do these singers, who are filthy rich, die at such an early age? probably the same reason people who aren't filthy rich die at an early age....only they have more fun in the process. RIP...You know he wrote and collaborated with miles davis as well... he spanned many kinds of music.. his death is a great loss to music in general.. even local bands covered his music..goo goo dolls for.example,. He created Sheena e, the time, and helped madonna, beyonce, wutang clan write and produce many songs... rip..

Agreed. And some people also don't acknowledge the talent of an artist simply because the artist doesn't play the kind of music they like to listen to. If they don't like his music, he must not be any good.

The_Real_TCIII
Supposedly Eric Clapton was once asked what it was like to be the greatest guitarist in the world and he said "I don't know, ask Prince". The guy was a brilliant musician
turkeyfeathers
Heard today on the radio that he played the keyboard for Stevie Nicks Stand Back. She was on her honeymoon, got an idea for a song, started writing down the lyrics, called Prince and he came that night to assist with it. Never asked nor received credit for it either. TMI but I remember rollerskating to Princes song 1999 way back when. And yes, I did wear parachute pants

The_Real_TCIII
Hey don't shoot the messenger lol. The dude has written a ton of huge hits and plays every instrument, there's no denying he was a musical genius. I can respect that kind of talent
Daveboone
When he was up and coming, he was not my style...or close! In the years since, I have grown to really like a lot of his stuff, He always had a reputation for clean living, so I will be very interested to see the results from the autopsy. NFA-ADK
It is a shame. Sometimes those "clean" people get in big trouble when they become unclean. Does not take much and can start with a prescription for some pain. (Look at MJ.)One thing is for sure, he will be missed by many. No doubt much more to him than many realize myself included. OMG I wore those parachute pants! lol
philoshop
He could write both music and lyrics, play any instrument in front of him, sing, engineer or produce studio work, perform on stage, and at the same time keep the media titillated. That's not easy to do, and he did it for over forty years. Like his stuff or not, he was an extremely influential musical talent. He was an artist.
