What kind of snake?

at my old house we had a major mouse and chipmunk problem.  Farmers nasty barn 50 yards away was rat infested.  One morning I stepped out the door to go to work and pretty much stepped on a black rat snake.  It was decent sized but never measured it.  it was there most mornings sunning itself.  No more rodent problems after that until someone dropped off a cat that was a killer and killed the 7' long snake.  good thing she could kill the rodents too.  We moved and kept the cat.

I believe so.....hope you have some mouse traps...it's going into fall...those snakes are your first defense against those wonderful little rodents entering your home looking for their winter home..

No mouse issues. This was the first snake I've ever seen on the property

OK, all joking aside. Do they have copperheads on LI or in NYC?

Idk about NYC or Long Island. But I live 35-40 miles north of NYC in Westchester and yes they have copperheads here. I grew up in Putnam county and used to see (and kill) copperheads in the woods from time to time.
