Taylormike
It's like an epidemic. My buck was loaded, he had 5 fully visible and engorged on his ears. Plus, many more on body. Watch for the tiny ones, either a different species or the nymphs. My Dad searched me after I gutted and dragged him, he found 3 on me.
fasteddie
It's going to be so cold tomorrow that the Ticks will be wearing jackets !

turkeyfeathers
Just bought another bottle of Sawyers to spray mine and daughters clothes for gun season. Ticks give me the willies. Never saw one , never want to. I drastically fear of daughter getting Lyme disease so I treat our clothes regularly
Pygmy
In my 66 years running , sitting and rolling around in the woods, I have had exactly TWO ticks on me.. On was a big ol' wood tick that I found after handling some fresh fox pelts perhaps 30 years ago..The other was a pinhead sized deer tick that I found on the back side of my right bicep perhaps 2 years ago.. However, I have friends who have hunted generally the same areas that I have who seem to have ticks on the nearly every time they go in the woods... I can't figure it out..Perhaps I just TASTE bad to them...
Taylormike
I think some people aren't aware of a deer keds. I think many people mistaken these for ticks but in fact they are very different. Regardless, lots and lots if keds and TICKS this year. Be mindful.

GreeneHunter
I haven't been in the woods yet , not a bow hunter by any means but I did (today) spray everything down with Permethrin ! Thanks for the heads up on ticks !
DirtTime
I have to get some more Sawyers and spray the g/f's gear down, and treat second pop-up blind. She had one on her today and it freaked her out. With the warmer temps we have had the past few years the little buggers are out almost all year now, and not just on critters. I still get one on me from time to time even though my gear was saturated twice with Sawyers. Ticks are getting to be like cockroaches, impervious to almost everything. Zag
My buck was loaded, we hang then in my brothers old farm house she'd and I'd guess we killed over a dozen, one found it's way too the back of my neck. From now on it's hanging outside first.

Tughill Tamer
Just about the same thing happened to my son after about 5 hrs of hunting we are on are way home and my son pulls out his phone and it has a tick on the screen that was saturday when it comes was 19 degrees on the tug hill. I didn't think you had to worry much about about ticks in very cold weather? I have hunted the tug hill region for 30+yrs and that was the first tick ive ever seen from there.Sent from my VS980 4G using Tapatalk
Core
I'm scared of them but I don't know how much to be. I have yet to see one while hunting. My daughter got one on her for a while a couple years ago and we took her to the doctor and all that--that one was in new hampshire just hiking around. Like I've said I've never seen one on me or a dead deer but I'm surely not taking chances. Have a buddy who got Lyme last year close to where I hunt. Brother has a friend who can barely function after contracting many years ago before they even knew or what to diagnose it Buy Sawyers , spray and hunt IMO. nodeerhere
They are bad this year. I've had 2 of them attached to me and have found several more crawling on my clothes and body. I spray with sawyers now and it helps but it don't stop them. And off don't work at all. Keep hunting clothes in a bin now and throw them in dryer every once in a while and respect them! And check urself every night in the shower. Get them off within 24 hrs and keep an eye on bite spot. If u get a rash go get meds. They're here and we can't stop it. Hopefully one day someone will figure out how to.

They are nasty little critters and a royal pain in the you know what. Had my dog out a couple of weeks ago on state land in Canadice and she picked one up She is on tick treatment regularly . Ya just never you where or when you will pick one up. Spray helps but I am not convinced it is the cure all. They seem to be more prevalent in the southern tier but it looks like you have to watch for them wherever you hunt.

Lever action
We've been living here 25yrs and I found my 1st tick on me while gathering firewood a month ago.My Dr took a blood sample to check for lyme disease, it tested negative.A week later and I had one crawling on me.Since then I have removed 2 from our dog. My Dr told me to use permethrin ,so I bought some and now spray my hunting clothes with it and also check myself after being outdoors.
