Who's getting out for the bass opener?

For me the bass opener was on the 15th of April. Got a nice 28" striper last Friday so im pretty much all catch and release now for striped bass (might keep one or two more). Good luck though!

I can't go Saturday, but hoping for some 12-18" "eaters" out on lake Erie Sunday morning.  I just finished vacuuming the boat, and just need to get the tackle ready now.  Hopefully the rain holds off until the afternoon.

Normally I do, but I haven't been fishing much this year at all. Only 1 day out so far and doesn't look good for this weekend either.

I wont be out this weekend, Ill be camping with the kids and theres no where to fish where we are camping. I may be going up to Black Lake to fish a tournament next weekend with a buddy though.

I have eaten bass before, its not my favorite, so I just toss them back.

It's going to be hot this weekend and the lakes will be crowded..I'll look for a cooler day or two next week..

I'll probably also target either bluegills/sunfish or perch..Both are hitting well right now..

Bass are lots of fun to catch, but I prefer the panfish to eat..Also, we generally catch a fair number of bass incidental to our panfish...

Put it at small boat harbor. South gap and north gap of wall. Water intake housings too. Bounce those Gulp Minnie's on weighted jig heads. Seneca shoals if not too windy to get there. Bait shop at harbor sells perfect sized crayfish for shoals. 

We wont be making opener but soon after. Buddy has been hammering them. Bass thumb here we come.

Hey gbj I try to fish Otter Lake once or twice a year some nice bass and pike there they say there are walleyes in the lake but I have never caught any there how about you

I was with a friend of mine a few years ago and he got one on the far side across from the launch not very big . i haven't caught a pike there in a long time but the bass fishing is usually pretty good

The fishing has been slow the last two mornings. Hopefully this week picks up. Those little rock bass are a lot of fun on light line.

The bass seemed hungry this morning on lake Erie, but it was hard to stay on them in the high winds with my light aluminum boat.  (2) 17", (3) 15" smallies and one 17" largemouth made it into our livewell.  We lost a few more right at the boat.    There was a bass tournament going on, out of small boat harbor in Buffalo, and them bass boats were on us like gnats almost every time we hooked a fish.   Those bass sure are well-fed with all those gobies out there right now.  I can't remember ever seeing fillets as thick as they were today.  Usually they are thinner at this time of year, when they are just recovering from spawning.  It was nice that the rain held off until the afternoon.

camping at the lower Saranac islands this weekend, hopefully hook into some smallies and pike. probably won't keep any bass or pike but will definitely cook a couple perch or bullheads on the campfire if they start biting
