Lawdwaz
Anybody have any ideas for an appetizer to take to an outdoor party in these high temps? Keeping things cool is always a challenge!
DirtTime
What kind of app we talking? You can do a crustini cucumber combo ( or the like ). Wings are always a fan favorite ( smoked-deepfried-grilled ) with a bunch of dipping sauces. Surprisingly, meat-cheese-cracker platters hold up well in the heat. Chips and salsa are always good this time of year. Make your own salsa, some fresh jalapeños, red onion, sweet red pepper, fresh garlic, and tomato sauce. Tons of options. Robhuntandfish
Stuff mini sweet peppers with sausage and cheese. Then 5 minutes on a grill rack and good to go. Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese , wrapped in bacon and grilled, Mushrooms stuffed with spinach dip and grilled. Salami and a green olive stuffed in a mini sweet pepper Onion bombs - burger in a meatball size, wrap with half cut onions to form a shell around it, wrap in bacon and cook. Glaze with BBQ sauce. Jell-O shots. Can get these peppers at Walmart or about anywhere and lots of options for apps. And they look purty. Electric is available so the crockpot meatballs is a good idea. Rob's chips & salsa is good too. We aren't amateurs at this food thing, just drawing a blank with the high temps. wolc123
The meatball/grape jelly/bbq sauce/crockpot deal sounds good. I would skip store-bought meatballs (no telling what the ingredients are in them) and make my own from ground venison with a little egg added to help them stick together when baking. tommyc50
jalapeño poppers wrapped in bacon, super easy and add what cheese you like feta, creamcheese a must ,or ricotta and mozzella and just wrap in bacon and put them on the bbq can be made ahead.A nother super easy and made ahead take string cheese and wrap in prosciutto or and salami serve cold.Also. scallops [imitation ones work] cook the bacon in the microwave for about a minute and a 1/2 then wrap around scallops and bbq. A good way to add vegetables take skinny eggplant[you can use the fat one but the skinny ones better], zucchini and slice them and marinade in bottle Italian dressing or anything else you like lemon juice/olive oil w/ oregano any herbs you want and hit the bbq but careful they burn easy. I got the copper grill mat and it works great. Oh yeah of course Chinese pork dumplings fry them frozen for about 10 mins ove med heat and CAREFULLY add alittle water to the pan and cover let the water evaporate alittle and that's it serve with vinegar and soy sauce and alittle hot sauce and alittle sesame oil if you can get it

Not too bad really, I will bake the potatoes, scoop them, prep em, add a pinch of butter, bacon, fill with cheese, and bake just enough to glue that all together for transport. Bake through at the party house, I have the chives, and sour cream where you can put them into a bowl on ice with foil on top, works well for me. Their loss though lol.

Moho81
Simple and good for hot weather is a fruit platter. Use 2 containers that are the same. One for ice and one for fruit. Set the fruit container on the ice and it will stay cold. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The same, bring another bowl for ice, set fruit salad bowl in the ice bowl. It is always gone fast! Just so refreshing on a hot day! Everyone loves it! Steve D
Here is a great recipe that almost everyone will enjoy since you can't please everyone: Mix 1 cup of mayo, 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 tsp. of salt. Add a little dillweed and chopped onion if desired and mix. Add 4 cups of sliced cucumbers and refrigerate for two hours and you are good to go. Serves 6-8 and once the mix is made you can just add more sliced cucumbers as needed.
