Al Bundy
The doe I whacked Sunday has two patches of weird hair on it. It looks as though the hair was shaved off and its growing back on. Obviously it wasn't shaved, but what caused this? Buddy thinks it was hit by a car. I wouldnt think hit by a car would cause this. The large patch is hind quarter. The smaller patch is close to the front shoulder. guesses???
Fletch
I cant tell from the pic is the hair actually thinner or shorter there?

Al Bundy
The hair is shorter and not easy to tell if its thinner. I dont think thinner. Possible road rash but is it likely a deer would be dragged? I dont think so. If dragged, I wouldnt think it would be up walking around after. It seemed in good shape except for that. Fletch
I would guess road rash it was hit and took a slide, burned off some hair. Then its stellar winter continued when you shot it lol!! 2

Al Bundy
My big concern here is gangrene. Hoping there is none..
Red
If there was gangrene odds are you would have smelled it while gutting her gangrene has a horrible smell plus you probably would have seen some green puss.
moog5050
New generation of deer. Just a fad like the lines shaved in my son's hair. I would not be concerned by gangrene. You will know if there is an issue.

Hock3y24
Could be anything, my bucks a few years back had it on his brisket. Taxidermist said it’s from so many ticks they rub it on hard objects it actually shaved down the hair thin.
Daveboone
Gangrene you will smell immediately, and will be very obvious....think a wound that looks like rotting blackened road kill. I have cleaned a number of road kill deer, and injuries/ bruising, is very obvious once you skin it out (not allways obvious with hide on).

Engraver99
Road rash....hit one a couple of years ago and watched it slide right next to me for about 20 feet or so...when she got up no hair on a section of the slide side.
crappyice
Dr Moog assured me that my buddy’s buck from yesterday is fine and edible even though it has puss spilling out his head from a fight this fall it seems...busted up times are more evidence of said scrapesSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
