Elmo
I too am a firm believer for the young and healthy, this is no worst than the flu. Problem is the lock down and the concern for the elderly. The sooner we can get the number of positive cases under control, the sooner grand kids can see their grand parents, people can get back to their normal lives, and baseball can resume. Those selfishly not practicing social distancing is just prolonging this. You may not be concerned about yourself but if for nothing else, do it for baseball. Edit for typos. Al Bundy
China lied in the beginning but after, the writing was on the wall for those to interpret. I sadly bought I to the no worse than a flu theory, as did many others. We really need to learn the lessons from China. On another note there is a lab in NYC that has a test for anti bodies. Much the same as the finger prick test in China. Note I think this to be true but my medical knowledge is limited. They are apparently able to ship this to other medical labs. I want to try and be tested myself. https://labs.icahn.mssm.edu/krammerlab/wp-content/uploads/sites/68/2020/03/Stadlbauer-and-Amanat-COVID19-antigen-expression-and-serology-protocol-3_24_20.pdf after a bit more reading, yes this is for anti body testing. But does not look like they have test kits. More like a blueprint is my guess. Edited March 27, 2020 by Al Bundy Add link
Chef
Agree. I worked with several people who were sick in late December and January. All the symptoms of a flu but tested negative for flu. They were sick for like 1-2 weeks and finally got better. Now it seems it was probably C19, which means I probably had it and didnt see any symptoms. Besides spring pollen allergiesAnd an occasional sinus infection, I never get colds and never the fluSent from my iPhone using TapatalkI’m pretty much the same way my wife and son both tested positive for and had the flu in early February, I didn’t get it. Last year my wife and son both got RSV I didn’t get it. I get a sinus infection once every few years and same with strep throat. Other than that I don’t ever really get sick Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Deleted Account
My one year old daughter is sick right now, puking occasionally, puny, and has been having on and off fever. We're trying to work with the phone nurse so we don't have to take her anywhere, but obviously the first thing to come to mind is Covid. I seriously hope that is not the case, it's pretty scary right now.

The Chinese locked down Wuhan with under 300 confirmed cases and a couple dozen dead...it’s the only reason this thing didn’t run through China. The WHO suggested it was likely to be a pandemic the same week (late January) but cautioned that with appropriate measures it could be contained. Members of the CDC publicly stated they had conversations with their own families about a serious disruption in society...this was in February

Five Seasons
20 hours ago, Splitear_Leland said: But what happened to all of the money that they got to keep after Trump's first stimulus (tax bill)? It seems to me that this is the second time in a little over 10 years that American tax dollars have been used to bail out major American companies. All of which benefited happily from conservative tax and deregulation policies. Just like in 08-09, pressure has been placed in a booming but fragile economy, and it has crumbled under the watch of free market conservative administrations. Funny how conservatives are all about a free market, until they're not. And every time it is costing Trillions of tax dollars to rescue. The words "Too big to fail" come to mind, but it seems like the big ones keep failing... Regardless, you're right, it's a fundamental argument of fiscal conservativism coming from a moderate Democrat, and corporate bailouts from conservatives... This is nothing personal against you Belo. If I sound frustrated, it's because I am, but not with you, or anyone in particular for that matter. i don't take it personnel. it just is what it is. the country has been divided for a long time on economic policy, and in times like this we aren't going to change for sure. What annoys me is my very liberal/progressive fans that think this bail out/stimulus is socialism. Which is a huge stretch. With regards to all of their profits, I think many invested in new infrastructure. I know my company increased capital spend and also gave $1k in stock to every employee. Most large corporations do not sit on cash unless they're planning to buy another business. They buy back shares or invest. Not very different from most Americans. We don't sit on much cash either, we buy new things, upgrade our homes, invest in our kids through college, new cars etc. Some have good savings account, but not enough usually to make it through several months. And others invest those extras into their 401k or other options where they can't easily withdraw.
grampy
Well, I was called to go back to work on a "half day, limited basis ". No close interaction with colleagues. Only a small fraction of staff allowed to be there at any one time. Will be doing information packets to send out district wide. Will also finish up some projects that were already started. Cuomo has just now given all schools to April 15th to be off.

Show me somebody on here that's all in on “herd immunity” with a family, then read the above quoted post and tell me they'd chance it with their family. Thanks. Sounds like they're bottling and not emptying existing bottles and re-bottling. As bad as the article makes it sound, it's a legit operation. They just don't compound the bulk materials. My place doesn't compound either - yet. We're working toward it.

Of course they’re touching it, they’re spilling it all over the floor! That’s why the state is paying 14 officers/civilians on the fire brigade as well as 2 state fireman for 3 shifts a day all of them making overtime. The state is having a different brands hand sanitizer mixed with more alcohol somewhere in Albany “per a corcraft truck driver I spoke to.” Then the mix is brought to comstock and being bottled by Cons.
