US Capital Lock Down

Recommended Posts

Can't sugar coat this one. Can't explain it away. Can't rail against what happened with BLM and supporting police and denouncing violence and destruction and support this. Can't, won't.

The main argument I've had with my liberal friends is that BLM would have all been shot and killed. Ummm they took over whole city blocks and weren't shot and killed by police, whereas they did shoot a white woman yesterday. Typical double standard race baiting divide from the other side too.

At this point in time, which for me a is commulaition of seeing both these parties act and govern poorly over the last 43 of my existence not much.
I am hopeful that some semblance of commonality can start to be reestablished. For example after watching the debate on the Senate floor for 4 hours last night one can take away that there are still a lot of people that believe in the people and institutions that this county is built upon.
Policy wise, I will have issues and disagreements with this incoming administration just like have with every previous one.

in a strange way, what happened yesterday may be a blessing that helps the now somewhat powerless republicans wake up to what the majority of voters want. And that is for our government to do more for the people and less for themselves. We may always disagree on how to go about that, but shit if we all couldn't use a little more boring political leaders again. Boring right now will be good.

without yesterday we may have seen the remaining republicans continue to act like sore losers and follow in the same footsteps that the democrats did after they lost and instead of accepting defeat and working together, they went on year long missions to overturn the election. That didn't help anyone then and it wont help anyone now.

Oh, I'm picking on him.  LOL.  You sound like a crybaby just like Trump.  I was born when Kennedy was president so I have lived thru quite a few presidents.  None of us really know what they were really like in private, but in public NONE of them acted the way Trump did.  Not even close.  He will forever be remembered as the bafoon president.  Delusional, insane, narcissist, just to name a few of his negative traits.

but he did a good job that's more import is it not? 4 years  of no new wars  made  peace in middle east  and booming economy .  seems like you would be ok with a guy like putin  or  hitler as president because they are  polite  lol

Sure you can it was  deep state actors posing as trump supporters  that's what the left  would say . Seriously  the cops were told to stand down . They wanted this to happen don't kid yourself  it is a way to distract from the obvious rigged election now instead of talking about a recount or investigation we are taking about this .  CIA does this stuff all the time in other country's .

I guess the question is where did you condemn it as you have this protest today? Show me an example.

Show me where I didn't or condoned any rioting or lawlessness? In fact I had very little discussion of  political topics on this site, be cause quite frankly its waste of time with debasing themselves with tribalism.

I stand by what I said.  No wrongs  that took place this year justified what took place yesterday at our capital, nor justify how the president has acted to incite this.

So, tell me Mr. Wizard, what bright beacons of hope do you forecast with a Biden/Harris presidency & a completely Democratic congress?

Caravans of illegal aliens headed to the boarder to enter the United States for their free stuff promised to them by Biden. Millions of them on the way.

All the negatives you list for the Biden/Harris presidency was brought on by your beloved President Trump.

And Trump was elected because of Obama and his policies. The problem with a pendulum is you can't be surprised when you push it so far one way that it swings back the opposite way equally far.  I long for the day when it is just hanging stagnant in the middle.

Again but yesterday was the day you came out to condemn this activity not before hand. Not when the protesters where let in to the Brett kavanaugh hearing, not when city blocks where being burned down, not when autonomous zone where being set up, not when a federal court house was attached for months straight, not when federal, state and private property was destroyed for a year. So yesterday was the first time you condemned anything which is hypocrisy at its best.

The protesters, rioters or what ever you’d like to cal them were let in by law enforcement. The one person shot was shot by law enforcement in a reported negligent discharge.

This will get worse. There are two main groups in America and they’re heading in opposite directions.

One side wants to follow the constitution, has all the guns and is backed by the military and police.

The other has a lot of promises and feel good phrases. This will get way worse before it gets better!

Quite frankly I never discussed it on here. Not sure why I would need to condemn the indefensible acts of malcontents and law breakers.
On the other hand a President that incites violence and had no regard for our democratic republic is VERY worthy of condemnation.

It doesn't bother you in the least that your trying to justify what took place yesterday?

Most of these riots are occurring in big cities.  Do you think most of the big city police departments are pro-gun and believe in the 2nd amendment?   I can tell you that they don't.  Just ride down to NYC and see how much the NYPD loves guns.  One needs a permit to own even a rifle or shotgun nevermind a handgun and they do their damnedest not to issue you one.

Well DC is a pretty big city and the police moved gates and let them in yesterday...

Nothing is never or always but the majority of military and police are on the right.

I am not justifying the breaking into the halls of Congress just as I did not when it was done during the kavanaugh hearings or the riots of the past year.

Do remember your “silence is violence”

You seem like a very intelligent guy and I agree with some of what you say but the hypocrisy is laughable

Maybe I missed some images but I didn't see any of those who came close to or inside the Capitol openly carrying any firearms.  I don't think the police would have been as accommodating if they did.  Most especially in DC or a city like NYC where anyone with a gun is automatically perceived as a bad guy.

You are lumping the NYPD line officers in with the NYPD's politically appointed administration.  The Police union and line officers do not agree with NY's anti-gun positions, especially when they let felons who commit gun crimes out of jail.

What did they need guns for?

Yesterday was a show of force. The pieces of shit politicians had an eye opening experience yesterday. They sit high and mighty in their chairs on the capital and think they can do what they want because they’re protected. Yesterday showed them that they aren’t protected because they’ve lost the support of those protecting them.

Yesterday’s events have been planned for months. If I knew about it you can bet DC police knew about it. Yet unarmed Americans still walked into the capital, a building that’s supposed to be secure.

The protest in DC yesterday was all about the 2020 election.  Not Trump.  People believe leftists stole it and are planning to shove leftism, socialism, communism and gun control down our throats after a successful political coup.

Mark my word, when they try to pass laws to do any of the above, they will see more of what occurred yesterday.  The American people are waking up to what is happening and now realize that working within the system if futile, because the system is corrupt.

What we saw yesterday was created by the government.  Fours years of lawlessness has shown the people the law is no longer being enforced.  The government has played stupid games and is now getting it's stupid prize.

Yesterday was nothing compared to what 2021 will bring.

I sure as hell don't want to see it, but I also don't want my grandkids living on their knees under Communism.  If there must be a fight, let it be now, so my grandkids can live free!

Just a thought........If Trump had won the election and yesterday's protest was against Trump, most people posting on the subject would be posting the exact opposite side of the position they have posted here.

We are all being played people.  Keep the masses fighting among themselves so they won't see what the government is doing to them.

They could have lined the outside of the Capitol Building with social workers to do the work of the police and defuse the situation. That's what the lib run cities want, replace police with social workers and do the work.

That's how little you know.  The union and officers may not agree with letting felons out of jail but they've never complained in the slightest about any unconstitutional gun law in place in NYC.  Giuliani was mayor for 8 years and he did squat to loosen any of them.  They just keep throwing another monkey wrench into the system each year to make it harder for people to be allowed to own guns.  Try coming down to NYC with a handgun without a NYC pistol permit and see how much they'll respect your constitutional rights.
