I don't understand the controversy here. He has the constitutional right to make ignorant and silly statements and his employer has the right to suspend or terminate him if they feel that his statements reflect negatively on the company. His right to free speech was not taken away. He's simply being held accountable for his statements. The company has the right to make sure that the shows that they air reflect well on them.

How is someone's expression of thier opinion about gay people any more hateful than the statement that you just made about "bible thumpers" ? It happens a lot too during harvest time on farms with a bunch of different animals and the sound of the farm machines.. corn picker, tractor noises etc... farmers sometimes watch the animals come in waiting to eat the stuff that hits the ground and doesn't make it into the truck and back to the barn.

People who say there is no reason to shoot a fawn are uneducated about deer, deer biology, and what current management practices have laid out given the current science. There are reasons and scenarios where shooting a fawn is biologically and management-wise. Period. As for the pic/comment - it's twisted, but I also understand how "jokes" can be within circles of friends/hunters and sometimes the jokes can take on a life of their own. I respect his moral integrity. It takes some backbone to speak against such a powerful "group"/movement if you call it that. It seems if you speak anything negatively against homosexuality then you are in the wrong. I can't knock a man for sticking to his views on life. I'll keep my personal views out of the matter as to what's right or wrong for the sake of saving my thumbs from typing a 10,000 word essay. Only one question that comes to mind... So who determined that speaking against homosexuality is any different then promoting it? It's all relative on your perspective and views, as I know some religious people who are just as offended when they hear of supporting the LGBT community.
