Found this guy nestled in the grass while brush hogging next to the house. Don't think he moved an inch.4 points

I wanted to share a hunt from this years turkey season... There is a nice write up on ny antlers outdoors site that my cousin wrote up. But to make a long story short we snuck in on these birds and ended up baging two with one gun. Anyways I wanted to share a pic of the tripple beard. The longest beard was six inches. I thought it was the icing on the cake to top off an amazing hunt that we will never forget.2 points

A quick search will turn up that the posted link is not the only place on facebook where this image is used. Once you post something on the net....facebook.photobucket,forums.....its out there one way or the other and its hard to put the genie back in the bottle. Hey Grizz.......just got back from third trip and Africa is STILL amazing. Hope you are going back as you planned this year.2 points

Went to Africa this past August 19th for my honeymoon... I can't begin to tell you how amazing it was!!!! All animals were shot with my T/C Pro Hunter, 30-06 Nikon 3-9 with the BDC reticle, Federal Fusion 180 grain slugs.... (The wife used the outfitters rifle) All animals were one shot kills... Most went straight down... furthest one traveled was the Zebra, went 75 yards... Then it goes down to 15 yards... Here is my first EVER African game animal.. a gold medal Blesbok.. Took him at 220 yards, dropped in his tracks.. My gold medal Springbuck, shot at 160 yards... The third animal taken was my Zebra Stallion... Great hunt.. the only animal that stopped my slug.. found it 1" in on the opposite side... Then, after many failed stalks... And working 1.5 hours to stalk this one... Finally took this Silver medal impala at 130 yards... Then... After way to many stalks to count... Almost giving up on getting one... I found this 34" Silver medal Gemsbok bull, took him at 309 yards.... And don't think the wife is not a natural born slayer.... LOL Her Gold medal White Blesbok taken at 110 yards...1 point

Got two of them over the weekend... Yes.. they were serious threats... Had to call the cops... I'm thinking they were loons from CNN facebook.... I commented a few times on there... Spoke what I believed..... They didn't like my Zebra pic of the one I killed... Think they found out where I lived and did a 411, sadly, they got my mothers phone #, I don't have a land line... called twice yesterday saying that if I didn't stop hunting they would kill me... Went off on a rant of swears that my mother didn't need to hear... only one blocked their number though... So I have the cu_t's number that called... WTF is wrong with the liberal lefty anti hunters??? As of right now, the phone company has a trap on the line, I've made the number unlisted and changed my privacy settings on FB so only my friends can see my info... Unreal...1 point

What jerks! I would not stand for someone harassing my mother. I would make it so that they would think twice the next time. I hope things work out for you, Grizz.1 point

I guess I just take these posts too seriously... The GR is always described as a sweet dog and the CBR as the opposite. That belief is widely publicized and is likely influencing the OP's girlfriend. In my opinion, the most significant advantage among the retriever breeds, is the coloration of the CBR. That is just me however; some breeds, such as CBR, which mature later can be a major obstacle for people without much patience and experience training dogs. I am not sure how GR compare, but in my experience Labradors mature faster than chessies. I want to make it clear I am not saying that training a lab is easy and does not take patience - anyone who thinks they are going to bring a dog of ANY breed into their home and does not expect their life to change - should not get a dog! If allergies or vacuuming dog hair is a concern; I have read that standard poodles, irish water spaniels, portugese water dogs, and curly coat retrievers are hypoallergenic and/or do not shed. I never trained any of these breeds, but I have read that the curly coat is similar to the chessie in behavior.1 point

Pan fish are very tasty and a heck of a lot more plentiful, that's for sure. Still fun to call in an old gobbler though. I'm sensing that your sightings were a bit short of the start line this year.1 point

Judging from some of the anemic-looking, pasty-faced vegans that I have seen, maybe they should be taking a lesson from that cat.1 point

I see we have gathered a few extra defeatist quitters in my absence... still trying like hell to convince the group that waving the white flag is the way to go... yep.. that ought to teach 'em... First they tell us how bad the politics is, then how stupid the people are, then how smart they are for figuring out how bad and stupid everyone is... then tell us how important it is to do nothing about any of it. Now there is a plan!!1 point

I aquired a Skidder rim from a logger friend, cut a piece of steel mech grate to cover the center hub hole. Layed up paver blocks around the perimeter and topped with cap blocks to add that finished look. It is a good combination of diameter/depth to make a great sittin' around/cookin' fire or a roarin'/beer drinkin'/ horseshoe throwin' party fire............................ FDXX751 point
