Went out after some coyotes last Monday morning first light on some big woods state land where I've been seeing a pile of tracks. Called using my fox pro for about 35-40 minutes when a beaut female came trotting in about 40 yards from my right and I blasted her. Good healthy dog biggest female ive shot yet. Froze my butt off only 3 degrees but was all worth in the end had an awesome hunt wish the season didn't end for us new yorkers. Hopefully get another dog or two before the season ends. There's still a lot of snow in the woods but the fields are bare and I was lucky to spot a couple this afternoon. One is from a really nice buck I have pictures of, so I hope to get back and look around a little more.5 points

Had a WONDERFUL last day of rabbit season with my buddy and his two beagles. We started hunting about 9:00 AM and kicked the first rabbit about ten minutes later.. The hounds ran almost steady after that. I'd shoot a rabbit, and before I could get it cleaned they would hit another track. The two of us shot 6 rabbits , and at 1;30 PM we had to catch the dogs and pull them off a track, because we were both WHIPPED.. Great day to end the season.3 points

My brother went out Sunday looking for whatever we could jump whether it be squirrel, partridge, or rabbit, all while trying to do a little shed hunting. We jumped more partridge than I had all the rest of the year with shots taken at most of them with nothing to end up in the pot. While we were leaving and 100 yards from the truck we stopped on one of the corners of the field to chat and a cottontail jumped out. I fired he didn't know what I was shooting at then saw it and fired and then we both fired out second barrels. That time he rolled head over heals. Not sure who actually got him but I ended up cleaning and cooking him. All in all it was a great last day spent in the woods with my brother.3 points

Didn't come up empty handed while looking for sheds in this downpour. You can tell how in tuned my eyes were looking for antlers that I actually found this knife with a sliver of decorative antler attached to it. I think this knife was special to someone. If anyone recognizes it let me know. There is one little detail that if it was yours you would be able to tell me. Also found this waterfall that isn't so much of a waterfall unless it's raining like this. All in all it was more fun than working today but I'm still bent on finding one of this years sheds.3 points

I was given one and used it a few times to try it out and never warmed up to it; shoot better off sandbags.....sold it on another forum. I have several rifles with 2 pc style stocks and the captured recoil puts extra strain on the wrist area in my opinion and I wouldn't use it for them or any slender stock gun for that matter. More than a few examples around of messed up guns/optics around the web from one; there was whole thread on another large forum I was aware of, but some folks were basically weighting them down so they couldn't move at all.2 points

My favorite one is satin..I LOOOOVE how it feels nestled up against Big Bob and The Boys ! Errr...Uh.. Back to turkey feet..<<blush>>.. I have one set of feet I kept intact. The one with my longest spurs ( 1 7/16 "). I have them hanging together on a lanyard on my memory shelf off to one side of my box calls..They look pretty cool there.2 points

Changed out the battery in my 2006 dodge stratus. What a PITA job that is. Take off front tire, remove inner fender well, then disconnect battery. Easy enough but time consuming is all. Then took a walk with the wife and my son. Was beautiful out. Got back and worked on my euro/western mounts from last year and this year. Ill start a new thread when I finish them.2 points

Shot a round in the local traveling 3d archery league...great morning to walked around Glen-Coe conservation club. Then made it home by mid morning and we took my son to the Buffalo Zoo, and rounded out the night by cooking some dogs, burgers and chicken breasts on the grill! I just found the vid funny. I have a crooked nose do to standing my ground to many times, and a few missing back teeth from getting 'sucker-slammed' with a pool stick up aside my head. Yet, I don't consider myself a tough guy, or a bad-a$$. The point was missed again. For all the people who think acting like a tough guy to poachers or w/e, it just as easy to get your ass kicked as it is to kick one. Just sayin'.2 points

...and wants to learn how to hunt. It is a long story, but life experiences and ideals have led me here. I live in Lindenhurst, NY (Long Island) and would like to learn about hunting and fishing. I have absolutely no clue. I am hoping someone can take me under their wing and show me the ropes. Thank you all for having me. God bless.1 point

Cool reading if you're even a little curious why thing are the way they are in the wild. http://conservationmagazine.org/2016/02/corvids-hold-the-key-to-saving-the-worlds-forests// "Imagine you’re a tree. Like every other organism on this planet, you’ve got two life goals. The first is to survive long enough to reproduce, and the second is to actually reproduce. Your aim is to cast out your seeds as far as possible so that your descendants will have room to grow. After all, if you just drop your seeds straight to the ground, your children’s nascent root systems will compete with your own mature one and will have trouble surviving. The solution? Strike a bargain with an animal. You provide the food, and the animal provides the baby carriage to transport your precious cargo a safe distance away. According to a new study, some of the best animal couriers around are corvids, the family of birds that includes crows, ravens, rooks, jays, and magpies."1 point

I do the best when I search the thickest brush I can find relatively close to a food source. The thicker the better and I'll circle the area for hours and hours, you'd be surprised how you walk right by them. Patience is key. I find 6-10 per year on public land Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk1 point

I don't have a big smoker, I just fit about 7 lbs. of sticks in at a time. I just lay them on the racks, not enough room to hang them. Taste the same when done! I just re read this, lets keep it clean guys.1 point
