  1. I was lucky enough to call in 6 Jakes this morning to my decoy. I slowly removed my glove and reached into my pants pocket to get my iPhone. At one point they were all within 10' of me before meandering off. Hopefully they make it to next spring.

  9. Not many pics but a hawk and rabbit...sitting at same spot just hours apart...a hen turkey and the tail end of something I couldn't recognize perhaps coyote...then these: 3 buck but one with some mass(bases look good sized even in velvet) and branched and our first fawn sighting....That is my original cardboard blind in the back ground..took my turkey out of it this spring. The fawn are on an early schedule and should be big come Oct/Nov.

  10. 3 wheelers are what I grew up on. When they added the extra tire I felt like a pussy, lol I started out on a Honda 125M that pops had bought for me as a kid. From there it was on to the 200S because I NEEDED that 4 inches of front suspension. (like that really helped) Then came the 200X and 250R when I had to buy them for myself. My 3 wheelers used to get "borrowed" a lot and the unknown riders would head to Iroquois High School and jump the levels of soccer fields and then blaze down the railroad tracks when the fuzz showed up! Fortunately....., I mean UN-FORTUNATELY..., they never caught the guy and to the best of my knowledge.... he's still alive and kickin'! I don't care how carefull you are on a trike, they are seriously dangerous if you don't know what the heck you're doing. But don't worry, at 19 he'll never even mention 1/2 of the near death experiences he encounters along the way so you got nothing to sweat about!

  12. Look up one night this weekend! Mars Is Ready For Its Close-Up: Red Planet Easy To Spot This Weekend http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2016/05/20/478865020/mars-is-ready-for-its-close-up-red-planet-easy-to-spot-this-weekend Sometimes astronomy can be challenging, but spotting Mars this weekend should be a breeze. Step 1: Head outside right after sunset and look toward the southeastern sky. Step 2: Find the full moon. (So far, so good, right?) Step 3: Look up and to the right, and find what looks like a bright red star. That's Mars, our planetary neighbor — getting up close and personal.

One of my guys knows all about it and he's been wanting to take time to go get some morels but we are just too busy. Doesn't he score some while we are working today. I was so happy for him. Wish I had the time to find some.

  30. I went out to Little Valley yesterday stayed in the woods from before 5 till noon, covered a lot of woods, did not hear a single bird! I didn't even find any fresh signs, where are the birds gone? I checked out 3 different areas where I know there has been birds in the past and nothing. I know the numbers are down but this really is hard to take. Lawd, you want to play golf tomorrow? Seriously i don't think I can take many more days of getting up so early, walking so far, and not hearing a single bird!

  31. Best of luck this morning TF!!! After two mornings in a row, and a lack of anything happening, decided to sleep in today. Doctor's appointment, and stuff to do around the house made it easy to sleep in and charge the batteries back up.

  32. I wanted to get an airgun for many reason. 1. to simply have one in my collection 2. gives me an addition tool to hunt small game in shotgun only zones. 3. 22LR is hard to find and airgun pellets are becoming more cost effective. 4. Can target practice more easier. I first went with a pump. Was nice for the first few shots but then pumping that thing got boring real quick. I then got a break-action piston. Nothing wrong with it but it's ridiculously long and the grip was too big for my hands (apparently I have Donald Trump hands). I'm actually thinking of getting rid of it actually. I eventually "pull the trigger" on a marauder because. 1. A friend of mine has one so I've handled it before and like the feel of it. Being that I swung and miss on my 2 previous airguns I decide to go with one I've already field tested. 2. Accuracy is amazing. 3. Great reviews comparing it to much more expensive airguns at a fraction of the cost. How do I like it? I like it. It's fun...but it's different. I'm not really into airguns so it'll never really replace my rifles but it does give me some variety and "variety is the spice of life" isn't that what they say?

  33. First three wheeler was a Yamaha 125, then a Suzuki 125 because it had that little pull lever for reverse. Then a Yamaha Moto 200 trike. All were a lot of fun. The very first lesson I learned on a three wheeler was "Look ma, no hands!" was't much fun. I am not sure if you can still get them registered, but the one thing you can add to help with 'foot slip' are metal foot peg guards that don't allow the foot to slip all the way off.

  36. Its looking good. should fill in nice. Put your weed block down as late as you can stand it. Mid to late November. The weeds will store it in their system and never bloom in the spring. Most people think you put weed block down when you see weeds, in the spring/summer…..Wrong…. My lawn is the only one in the neighborhood with out a single dandelion or weed on it, every spring...

  43. My comment wasn't meant for you.. I was just using your quote for a lead-in. I agree that AR's in the form being used in NY and PA don't go far enough to actually create big bucks in large numbers. But, if you look at the size of the record book class bucks in PA since AR's started and you will see a big difference in overall size and numbers of those bucks. I've said it before and I'll say it again... AR's are only one item necessary in an overall deer management plan to improve the age structure among the buck population... bigger bucks are just a by-product of good management. AR's on their own is not deer management. I think we are trying to hard to manage whitetails in NYS with no actual goal in mind of where we want it to take us.

  45. used Browning A-5, and no need to change barrels. Same modified choke barrel taken: ducks, rabbits, pheasants, squirrels, and deer. Hoping to add turkey to the list soon. Clean it after done hunting for the year, just wipe down with a little oil after exposure to rain/snow during the season.

  46. Once a week, I get an opportunity to ride around in circles in total relaxation, relieving stress, all by myself solving all the worlds problems. It is a bit therapeutic ..... lol. Of course, on occasion, that zero-turn mower can be a bit of a carnival ride. The thing is actually fun to bomb around in, seeing how fast I can zip around the trees and other obstacles. I'm getting pretty good. I haven't taken out a shrub in a couple of years.....lol.
