  1. I am all for welfare.....I think we should take of those among us who are less fortunate. I do not, however, think we should give a "free ride" to anyone. We will help you when you are down...if you help yourself at the same time.

  2. You want to see welfare abuse? Just go to the walmart in Utica the first week of the month. I have seen more abuse there than anywhere. I was in line behind a lady dressed very well, had the long nails that looked like they just got done, gold jewelry , talking on a cell phone to someone about how she's just picking up a few things./ her cart was full of junk food steak and chicken. So she proceeds to tell her friend a bout how they are all going to the casino later. Well guess what she payed with at checkout? Made me sick when I saw the EBT card. Or how bout another time in line a well dressed couple had another cart heaped full of stuff that looked like you could have a feast for Obama with. Time to pay, and guess what comes out? EBT !!!! You have to put a PIN number in I guess, and she forgot it so the card was locked. She goes In her purse and finds 4 hundred dollar bills to pay. If she has that kind of money laying around how the hell is she getting welfare? The abuse is more than what any one sees. Go into a lot of homes and see mattresses on the floor and garbage all over the house. But of course a huge flat screen tv with an xbox or ps3 under it. I see abuse in different forms on an almost daily basis. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. I am now getting a bit of insight into why Cuomo and his merry band of anti-gun politicos feel they can get away with such heavy-handed mis-treatment of gun owners. In such a short time span, he throws a bone to hunters, and they all come groveling back to him licking his feet like some whipped dogs. My gosh, nobody seems to have any true convictions anymore that can't be bought off with some meaningless gesture. All I can say is get used to the SAFE ACT and all such future intrusions on your 2nd Amendment rights because the gun-owning population is now showing just how shallow their convictions really go. I was hoping that the disgust and discontent might last until the election of these filthy creeps came up, and now I find people who are already crawling back with their hat-in-hand, ready to bow down and thank the author of one of the greatest gun-grabs in history for a little scrap thrown to them on the ground. Well, thank you all for a little dose of reality.

  5. I do not plan to kiss his ass or thank him for anything.I contacted my senator and assembly person and voiced my desire for this to happen. Let them kiss his ass they get paid for it. So we get a few election year perks then throw his ass out. win win

  7. first met me say I am no fan of his, but apparently the libs think he is a guy to get out of the way for 2016. They are hammering him today. Funny part is he said I did not know it was going on and took responsibility. Obama denies knowing anything about anything and he gets a pass. Gotta love how the media carries the water

  8. What Cuomo's crew wants to call welfare from now on..." The transitional living fund"...Why not just "Your hands in my pocket fund"

  9. Yea, why not adopt some poor mutt that they will euthanize this week and help put those money hungry breeders out of business. My daughter went on craigslist and adopted a Husky some Mexican family had chained to a concrete block in their yard 24/7. The thing was boney and sick, you gotta see that Husky today. My son adopted a little mutt from some poor southern trailer trash in Texas also, and she's now got a great home, happy and healthy.

  10. Besides looking at kennels/breeders, you may want to see about rescues at animal shelters too. Our dog was a rescued puppy that was shipped here from southern Texas that we picked up at the local shelter. Met one hunter who got his best "coon hounds from a ASPCA shelter. You just never know. Stop by a couple shelters and let them know. Some of them will let you if one comes in, or even keep a look out for one when they transfer dogs in from an over-loaded shelter.

  16. You're right they were republicans. Very liberal ones too. A very conservative one would never have been elected even 40-50 years ago in this state. So you think if NYS votes in a middle of the road republican as governor, which is the best case scenario, they would repeal the Safe Act? I don't think there's a chance in the world in that happening. The only way it will ever get repealed is if the supreme court would somehow strike it down. Come on guys, let's get realistic here.

  18. I certainly didn't write any thank yous but I did write my assemblywoman and NYS Senator asking them to support it. If that's two-faced then I guess I'll live with that. Will I vote for the Emperor for Governor or POTUS? NFW, but I didn't vote for him in the first place but not writing simply because you don't happen to like someone and they are a "demonstrated enemy of the 2nd Amendment" makes zero sense. But again, it does NOT require any correspondence to him or his staff. I think you're letting hate obscure the vision of potentially getting something done, be he an a-hole or not.

  24. The super critter only comes with one sound. The other is 50 preset sounds. I cant speak for either one, but my choice would be neither. If you keep using the exact same sounds in your area, the yotes will get wise to you. Fox, not so much, but yotes will. Honestly, Ive been down this road of trying to cheap out on a caller. Dont do it. Save your money and buy a Fox Pro, and not the one that you cant change sounds on. Then get the regular Mojo Critter. If you plan on using the caller for more than one or two seasons, you wont regret it. If you decide you arent that into it, you wont lose much reselling a Fox Pro. Also, pick up some different mouth calls to break up the electronic calls as well.

  25. And I can drive into any city across the US and see strings of generations of welfare recipients that have never known anything but a life of welfare income. Much of our welfare system results in a strangle hold on generation after generation that grow up dependent on the government for their existence and cannot seem to break the chain. For many it has become a way-of-life. It's a cruel system that enslaves the recipients with dependency and lowered expectations. Yes there are some who run onto hard times and need a hand up but there are a lot of others who are in that situation because they were born into it and previous generations were born into it. It is a system that needs cleaning, and very little can be said in defense of the way we conduct our assistance programs. Many of these have been modeled with an intent that it is to become a lifestyle for those claimed by it. The temporariness has been changed to assumptions that this is to be the way people will live and people have responded in exactly that fashion.

  27. Very good article, especially since I can see a need for the checks and balances placed on the DEC as an agency, and the need for over-sight to ensure that all of the state's citizenry are safeguarded and represented in matters of environmental conservation. The trick is getting the right checks and balances and ensuring that. From what I can make out, there doesn't really seem to be any guidelines as to what environmental issues belong in the control of the DEC and which ones belong in the legislature. It just seems to be very arbitrary to me.

  28. All of the above! This early in the season, just follow the deer sign around all those areas and maybe you'll get lucky. I don't know how far along deer on the island are in shedding right now, but it may still be pretty early like it seems to be here. If I had to pick just one place to look right now it would be the fields and plots.

  40. the sportsman/hunting groups and organizations who suck onto any politician, especially ones who backed the Safe Act, are no better than the politicians themselves............this pretty much sums up how divided we are becoming.

  41. He is giving us the use of the Crossbow so they can still get deer taken when the guns are gone or you cant afford ammo.

  42. A hunting organization wanting to thank AC. Sheesh. I don't care if he offered support. Big picture thinking trumps a bone thrown to the dogs in this situation. Just a fine example of special interest trying to weasel through the legal system and politics to get what they want at any cost. I'm on the fence on xbow use, but I REALLY dislike this organization now that they ask for people to thank AC.

  44. The overbearing question of this thread from what I see is "is it okay to use stands "permanently" on public land". I think it is okay if they are removed after every season. If everyone was able to place a stand in the woods, and leave it there, the woods would turn into a junk yard. I do think that if someone wants to set one up, live with the risk that it may be stolen or used, and respect the land, then it is okay to do.

  45. No carrot here. he is happy that is all they struck down. This has been the negotiation point form the beginning. do you really think he cares of we carry 7 or 10? The long range plan is we will be carrying nothing. e still has background checks for personal sales and ammo, ban on assault weapons renew of a permit every 5 years as well as the possibility of taking all your guns. 3 bullets do not mean squat. Look at the big picture here. this part of the law was never enforceable, so it goes away. the rest the same judge said was all good.

  46. Thank Cuomo and Silver? Are you kidding me? They both will do anything possible to take our guns and 2nd ammendment rights. I will not thank them for anything. There is surely some agenda behind King Cuomo's endorement of this FUAC

  47. O I think by now it is well known my feelings for the King. However, if we do not show we are in support for this, it will fall to the wayside again. You know NYB is going to come out against it strong as they did last time. I am not saying to bow before the king. I am saying contact your representatives and say you want this.

  48. does anyone else find it funny that there has been scarce ammo for a long time. Now all of a sudden the stores are packed just in time for the background check to have been starting? You can still order ammo from other states, but it has to be shipped to an ammo sales place to be picked up. I can not picture many places willing to let you ship ammo to their place of business and do paperwork for free when they sell ammo to make money. Most places are not even planning to sell ammo after this gets started.
