this will be year 4 with the jak-hammers. haven't let me down yet. 5 deer down with them all with perfect bloodtrails except for the 5pt that I gut shot. but he fell within 60 yards and was dead in less than a half hour. was definitely my fault, I rushed the shot. they fly just like my field points. they're the only mechanical I've ever used and i'll keep using them til they stop making them

saw Maiden in Brooklyn on Saturday, they were amazing as always -
camping at the lower Saranac islands this weekend, hopefully hook into some smallies and pike. probably won't keep any bass or pike but will definitely cook a couple perch or bullheads on the campfire if they start biting

Wondering what everyone's setting up with in the early season, had some luck last year with a jake/hen combo but was thinking of bringing a full strut tom on opening day. Thoughts?

usually get a few of those every year

I'm a meat hunter, so either one of them would make me shoot my load in 3 seconds!!!

summit goliath, a bit heavy but I wanted the extra weight capacity and I feel safer with a climber that has a front rail. that thing is as comfy as a lay z boy but carrying it to the woods is a work out. ladder stands are nice if they're in a spot that produces year to year but the portability of a climber is good when you need to change it up

my heart goes out to you. 6 months ago we had to say goodbye to my 12 year old Rottweiler/Sheltie mix and it's been the hardest thing we've ever been through in our lives, and we've been through a lot. He was more like a son to us then a pet. He's actually the reason me and my wife together. we had a mutual friend and they came over to my house one day and when the two of them met, it was love at first sight. I guess she figured if she had to put up with me to be him, it would all be worth it. Even in his passing he had more to give. We brought him to a wonderful pet cremation facility in Eagle Bridge and the people there were amazing. So amazing that after taking us on a tour of the facility and talking with one of the owners for awhile, they asked my wife if she needed a job. And 3 weeks later, she was a full time employee there and loves every minute of it. And after countless jobs, sitting behind a desk and answering phones, she's finally at a place where she loves what she does. She gets to give back to families everyday who have been through what we've been through. It was like his last gift to her. I wish I could tell you how to cope with the loss of such a dear friend but I'm still trying to figure that out myself. As soon as I do I'll let you know. I guess just knowing that you did everything you could for them and loved them everyday is the only way you can even start putting the pieces of your heart back together. I really want to thank you for posting this. I actually had a dream about him last night and as soon as I open my laptop, this was the first thing I saw. And I find that very comforting. I never met Jenny but if she was loved one tenth as much as mine, then she was one lucky girl. Please tell Jenny that there is a sweet little boy named Gibson up there that she should meet. And from the pictures I've seen, they'd make one adorable couple. Thank you again for sharing... R.I.P Jenny

my brother got me the FieldTorq Viscerator for Christmas last year. used it on both my deer this year and it works great. it's basically just a big gut hook but you can pry through the ribs and pelvis if you want.

i actually do both, I take one hind quarter and cut big 2 inch thick steaks, cut through the bone, and they make perfect pot roast for the crockpot. then I debone the other hind quarter. I also throw the shoulder blades and shanks in the slow cooker with the bone. comes out great

Do you think this guy was rutting?
518BowSlayer replied to DaSwampBuk's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
you can just get a micro sd card for your trail cam, they always come with an adapter to fit in a regular sd slot. or you can do what my father inlaw does and just bring a digital camera with you and you can view the pics on that -
if you rinse it out good and it doesn't stink after rinsing, should be fine
