  1. +1 on the Ballistol. That stuff is great.
  2. I saw alot of Robins during the gun season way back in the woods one day. I wondered the same thing.
  3. Yes depending on the clerk. I have a permit so I have not had any issues. Stores like Herbs, and Runnings are much easier.
  4. This might just be my next gun purchase...I'll be keeping an eye out at Herb Phillipsons and Runnings!
  5. JRod, did you mount directly to the scope? Or did you use a mount that connects to the rail?
  6. I have taken one deer with my 370. I like this crossbow, and for my needs I have no desire to upgrade. I have my Crossman scope dialed so that the cross hairs are zero'd at 25 yards. This puts my arrows at 1" high at 20, and 1" low at 30 yards. Out to 40 yards, I use the bottom reticle, and its spot on. I dont think I can split any more hairs with it. Unless this scope totally breaks, I'm not going to upgrade any time soon. I am shooting Piledriver bolts, with 100 grain tips. The only major complaint next to the adjustable stock rattle, is the sling mount ring...that thing rattles like crazy, I have a rubber band wrapped around it to quiet it down. The sling that comes with it is borderline feeble. I may switch it out with my muzzleloader sling for next season, as its not so stiff. I do need to figure out a good mounting solution for my action camera so I can try to get some videos in the future.
  7. I was able to see lots of deer on many occasions during the bow season, never had a shot opportunity. Crossbow season it started to dwindle some, and by gun season little to nothing. I missed a buck with my muzzleloader, which was the only shot opportunity I had all season. We have good years and bad years I tell people. Perhaps next season will be better.
  8. Is there a place I can look up my reported harvests for deer from years past? I have started to make a journal of sorts with a few pictures here and there, but the remembering of deer and years gets a little fuzzy thinking back before 2012. Thanks.
  9. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/45478.html Here's a link to the State Land Interactive Mapper tool.
  10. I have some hunting soap, cant remember the brand off hand, yellow bottle with a dark blue cap. The directions said to fill to the lower mark for HE washers, and use a full cap for standard washers. I got rid of our HE washer and went back to a standard washer. Less hassle and it just works. The HE washer we had sucked.
  11. looking for an 8Y. I have 7F or 7J to trade.
  12. Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep you in mind. Please send me your contact info in a private message, and I"ll store it in my phone.
  13. The stick on pads are nice, but im not putting them on before I walk in, and it would be awkward to do so all layered up and on watch. The pouch design lets you slip it down your shirt and pull it off fully clothed. Also the one I made cost me a quarter for the felt square.
  14. Yeah, I woke up early and peeked outside...my trees were swaying like crazy, and the rain was pelting the back of the house. No thanks for this morning. If the wind dies off some, perhaps I'll go out mid day.
  15. I saw this over on another forum, I made one and its awesome. https://forums.bowhunting.com/threads/one-way-to-stay-warm-on-stand.16066/
  16. Mechanical Design, 3D CAD modelling. Been doing this for almost 20 years now....wow that makes me feel old.
  17. Yep, I have basically this exact setup attached to my Summit Viper Mini. Its very comfortable, definately worth the money! Also like others have stated, the Third Hand Archery straps to hold the two parts together while carrying, and they also work to keep the top and bottom tethered while climbing, nothing worse than having the bottom platform fall while your climbing. Here is a post I made 2 years ago showing what I did to mine:
  18. Yes I will be out with the crossbow. That being said, last year I alternated between the crossbow and the compound. I may do that again this year.
  19. I saw a 4 point this morning. He came through just before 8:00, he knew something was up, as he didnt come much closer than 20 yards, and decided to turn and head another direction. He had his nose to the ground quite a bit...he was on the prowl for does. Nothing else to report.
  20. OH i forgot to mention....I upgraded to MOLLE gear backpack straps and waist belt on my Aluminum viper. It definately helps distribute the weight across your shoulders and lower back. Maybe thats worth looking into.
