  1. Great photos. Brings back very fond memories of trips to Italy.
  2. Didn't Trump encourage people to protest and 'march on Washington' after Obama beat Romney in 2012?
  3. Rogers is having a sale right now. some of them for $29.
  4. My doe-to-buck ratio is out of whack also. It's gotta be close to ten to one.
  5. I was in 4F this weekend. On Saturday, I saw a few small bucks traveling together. They didn't bother with any of the does in the field. I did see a few small new scrapes that weren't there two weeks ago. I had some trail cam pictures of better bucks still traveling together. On Sunday, things seemed to change a bit. I saw two young bucks make a little effort to check the does. I saw another bigger buck make a slightly more aggressive check on a group of does. The does were obviously not interested and the buck continued feeding in the field with the does. I also saw a few other smaller bucks on Sunday that were pressuring the does just a bit. It seemed to me like rut activity just started. I'm hoping it'll be in full swing in two weeks when I'm up there next.
  6. Agree with waiting. Unless you have coyotes on your property.
  7. I'm not sure if they were migrating birds or local birds- I was upstate this weekend, Otsego County and saw some birds flying- not a lot. In the late mornings, there were birds in cut corn fields on my way home. One field had a few hundred birds.
  8. Not sure if this worked. I tried attaching a copy of a lease that I used a few years ago. It was a template that I found online. Virgi Lease - Copy.doc
  9. Did you trim it well? Maybe you have some silver skin and connective tissue mixed in there.
  10. Regarding hunting clothes in general, my best advice would be to buy the best that you can afford. Cabelas has five or six different bibs at big discounts in their 'bargain cave' section. Their stuff is great. I always wait for what I want to hit the bargain cave.

That's good advice. Thanks. I'm gonna have to catch up on the technology.

For you guys that hunt the public spots with numbered parking areas, do you hunt only spots that you've pre-scouted? Or, do you ever go into an unfamiliar spot in the afternoon and hang a stand? I've been curious about trying them, but have always assumed that these sits would be overhunted and blown out. But, everyone seems to say that there are plenty of deer.
  13. I recently purchased in Otsego county and built a small cabin. If I recall correctly, I don't think I was allowed to put a camper on the property. My place is built on 6x6 poles and my taxes did go up- not sure exactly what Hunterman was referring to. I had to have a building permit and was required to build it to code. Not sure if the rules are the same throughout the county. Not sure if you would need a permit for a shed. If you do, you should be careful not to let on that you plan to use it as a camp. The inspectors were pretty diligent with my project. If they sense that you're planning to 'occupy' the structure, even occasionally, they could probably make you miserable.
  14. Sounds like you should be speaking with a real estate attorney.

These are the main reasons I mostly quit hunting here on the island. Aside from the chiggers and ticks, access to private land is almost impossible. And, public land is often over-crowded. I could never look forward to heading into my stand if I knew there was a chance that another hunter might be setting up a few yards away.
  16. was it someone you are familiar with?
  17. I was working at a large hospital on Manhattan's UES at the time. After the first plane hit, we started scrambling to prepare for mass casualties. We spent the day preparing. None came as the few survivors were taken to other hospitals. Coworkers crying because they couldn't make contact with loved ones who worked in the towers. The eerie quiet and sense of helplessness of waiting to help and having no survivors brought in. Awful awful day.
  18. Are you suggesting that everyone should boycott every company whose CEO is not voting Trump?
  19. I started out using a 30-30 for a bunch of years. Then carried a 12g when I started hunting in non-rifle area; and eventually switched to primarily carrying a 50cal ML. I also like to carry a 30-06 that was given to me by a friend who has since passed away. Lately, the 50cal is my first choice, and the 06 is the backup.
  20. The issue that I've found here on the island is that a lot of the marinas where you would launch your boat or kayak do not allow firearms on the premises- many of them are county or town parks. So, you can't have your gun in the car while you're towing your boat or carrying your kayak. Then, some of the local towns do have ordinances restricting discharge of firearms. I live on the north shore near a town marina. I found it very difficult to get information regarding hunting there that I could trust. after seeing guys hunting there, I ran into a DEC officer at the marina while I was scouting for birds. he confirmed where it was legal to hunt and where it was illegal. I think that this would be your best bet- contact a DEC officer in the area you're curious about.
  21. The question about whether or not Obama created the vacuum is debatable and a matter of opinion. The point is that Trump was specifically asked if he meant to imply that Obama had created the vacuum, and he said 'no, I meant that Obama is the founder of ISIS'. The interviewer actually tried to help him. But, he was too stupid and arrogant to take the interviewer's help and soften his statement a bit. It wasn't until later that he decided to change his story and claim that the whole thing was just sarcasm.
