The brotherhood of firefighters lost a good one here, by all accounts. Prayers to his family, along with his brother and sister firefighters. RIP young man.

Maybe some hope
grampy replied to silent death's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Yeah......all that and he's blaming the "Cancel Culture" for all his problems!...... Can ya believe that?? The Chairman of "Cancel Culture" in NYS himself! -
That's just a few miles up Rt. 7 from me! Let me know if ya ever get near the "hood" here!

Great choice! A couple summers ago, we went out that way to visit some HNY members. We took a day to see the falls and it was fun! Also close by, there is an indoor mall with tons of shops that the Mrs. might like? I think I may have picked up some hunting socks or gloves there too???

Skaneateles in the finger lakes is a nice day trip visit. Lots of shops, and places to eat. My wife loves it there. Cooperstown, even in the off season is still a fun place to go. Plenty to see in all the shops. The bakery on the corner is always a must stop for us.

Are they hard to learn to fly them? Do they have a one button homing feature? They are soooo cool!

Coyotes On The Move Across New York
grampy replied to Steve D's topic in NYS DEC News and Annoucements
I look at it this way........for every coyote we shoot, there is one less coyote running around on our property. They keep making more.......we keep shooting and trapping them. There are less of them here now, than a few years ago. By doing nothing, and just letting them breed and continuously add to their numbers unchecked, just adds up to way too many coyotes! Look, I could even live in peace with a few coyotes, within the square mile or so where we hunt. But when you have multiple packs calling back and forth most every night. There are just too darn many of them! -
Third Annual Bone Creek Rendezvous show and tell
grampy replied to dinorocks's topic in General Chit Chat
Thanks for sharing dinorocks!!! This event looks so cool! Could one attend to just observe? As not many are prepared to participate. -
When full inclusion is passed, I promise not to shoot anyone else's deer, trespass on public land, and always take the easiest route to killing "MY" deer !!!!

That one summer I was John Mellencamps bodyguard
grampy replied to Nomad's topic in General Chit Chat
Wow! Great memories, and cool experiences! I've heard that he is a down to earth guy. Not too common in performers today. I've always enjoyed listening to John's songs. Rain On The Scarecrow, is my favorite. -
Done!! It's about time for this to pass. Though I will still use my compound whenever I can! And so can everyone else.
-
And you could get more than that easy, with the work you do!! So nice to see ya here Matt!

In my younger days living in SC, I spent many nights in my truck, before hunting and fishing. And like Nomad, when the wife and I weren't seeing things the same way, I've gone up to the farm to think things out and just stayed. Sometimes for bass tournaments, especially up to Champlain, I'd get to the launch sites real early, and take a couple hour nap before most of the others showed up. And if I made the cut to fish the next day, would stay in the truck.

My hunting partner and I are wanting to set up an Ohio public land hunt. Hopefully for this year? For bow, or late season ML. phade, I bet if you started a new thread about how you went about setting up the hunt, what areas to look at,(don't want exact locations) getting ready, the trip out there. And your daily routine while hunting. That would be so helpful to anyone thinking about doing an out of state trip!

Those WNY guy's are always underestimating rack size!! I think out there, the bucks are born with a 14" spread! Love the carving so far!!!

Lot's of King Andy's own party are jumping ship on him now. His presidential ambitions are now sunk. Looks like he's paddling hard, up stream, in Schitt's Creek, with a broken paddle. And the flood gates upstream are about to open. I couldn't be happier to see this happening to the founder of the "Un-Safe" Act!! Chances are very good a democrat, just as bad, or perhaps even worse will replace him. But if ever there were a chance for a statewide "KNOWN" republican to make a run. Now would be that time. Elise Stefanik, or someone with her backing and name recognition may just have a chance. -
I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps the new carb not tightened properly, or gasket bad? Or fuel line clamps to the carb and tank not tight? Or even a small crack or hole in the line?

Welcome! Nice to have ya join us!

Do you think this happens in a attempt to break deer trophy records?
grampy replied to phantom's topic in General Chit Chat
I've never shot a Booner or P&Y buck. Likely never will. Maybe that's why I just don't get the "my buck is bigger than you're buck" stuff? I think every hunter should be proud of EVERY buck they choose to kill ! I think a select few, tend to forget what "HUNTING" is all about, when they become obsessed with BIG antlers. For the amount of money it will take to purchase a farm raised deer, you could easily go on an outfitted, out of state hunt! Or just go to a high fence facility if that's what you choose to do. It's legal, and I won't belittle someone for doing so. But don't try to pass it off as free range, to try and make yourself look better than an average hunter like myself. -
Picked up a new boom stick..

Sweet looking OU shotgun!!! I'm sure she will serve you very well. -
A fine, handsome little fella! Looks like you're already best buds!

Love your barn and workshops wolc!! The new platforms will be nice and comfortable too. Hope ya bring home lots of tasty venison for your family, hunting from them!

A truly gifted deer hunter, from deer huntings first family. I too have read so much on the Benoit's and have been to two seminars they put on. Down to earth good people. Every deer hunter can learn from these guys, no matter what style of hunting you do. RIP Larry.
