I had a bloody leg poke out of a contractor bag one time when the garbage men went to toss it into the truck. These two guys (black) freaked out!! They called the Amherst Police woh called the Town Highway Dept. The garbage guys thought I whacked my wife up................!!!

The town took it all and told me if the EVER gave me a hard time again, give them a call and they would take care of it. Pretty cool on their part, IMO.

Funny stuff I guess when the guys first saw the bone. They were screaming!!

I'm planning on bringing it back and butchering it in my dad's garage in the city. I won't be surprised if somebody from a neighboring building sees a this scene and thinks something suspicious is happening and calls the cops. In any event, I'll probably bag it, drive it up to somewhere and dispose of it into the woods.

I have been dumping parts from deer, pigs, a couple steers/vealers in a power line ROW down wind from home.

When the crew came through a couple years ago to clear cut the saplings, they thought they stumbled into a wacko's graveyard.

I was asked politely not to do that anymore.

Now I compost everything in a couple loads of chips from tree crews; when I don't use it for yote bait.

I am fortunate in that respect...I have 100 acres of private land on which to drop the remains without bothering anyone..I also have a friend who processes deer and has a pit dug evry year on his land for the leavings..Sometimes when he is grinding some burger or making some sausage for me, he lets me drop the carcasses in his pit..

Thats funny Lawdwaz, maybe I should let 1 bloody bone stick out of a trash bag this year just to see what happens.

Try it, it should be a hoot!!

My local p/u now is with the big plastic totes. THAT works great for getting rid of the evidence, opps I'm mean parts. The rib cage is a mini dumpster! I stuff all the leg bones and trimmings in it then bag that all by itself. It can be quite a heavy load in itself

The nut sack is mistletoe, typically.

The hide I TRY and save for a trapper that sells them or I donate to a butcher I know. Hate to waste them.

Too funny! Used to live in Williamsville (town of Amherst) and know at you are talking about. Those cops are a-holes. There is a reason it's the safest town in America.....cuz there are more cops than fricken residence. If I was talking to any of you in person, I would tell you a hysterical story involving a 6 point buck, my dog and an Amherst cop very excited to use his 9 mm somewhere other than the range!

after taking this deer the gut pile remained in the wood's. the following day nothing remained of the pile but a dark wet stain in the leaf litter. what was left after the skinning and 1/4ing was the ribcage and what is shown in the pic. i have disposed of the carcass at times by bringing it back to the wood's and also by putting it into garbage bag's. for me it depends on the amount of time i have (am i going back to the wood's the next day or is it going to be a few day's) seeing how i butcher the deer in my home i keep the head for euromount with the tag still in the ear. after the head is skinned i keep the tag attached to one package of meat in the freezer. disposing of the deer at curbside is kinda expected during deer season. the only time this came into question for me was after skinning and butchering 5 deer. garbageman called it in and local leo came by to ask about it. once it was shown (proven) that all deer where legally taken there was no longer a issue. that being said check with not only DEC but also your local trash hauler because some local ordinace does change from city to county to town as well as independent haulers.

I haven't had time to Google this, help me out.

What does the law say?

Only mention I found so far on the DEC website was regarding wildlife that was found dead.

http://www.dec.ny.gov/animals/6957.html

"Carcass Disposal

If there is no reason for submission and it is desirable to dispose of a carcass for sanitary or esthetic reasons, two options exist:

  • Burial in a location that will protect both surface water and ground water from contamination.
    • Keep at least 200 feet away from wells used to supply drinking water.
    • Be sure the carcass is covered with at least 2 feet of soil.

    [*]Disposal at a landfill.

    [*]Triple-bag carcasses in all cases."
