crappyice
So, my buddy's kids pet rabbit just died. He's looking to have a "service and burial" tonight and I have been recently curios about making rabbit's foot keychains. Is that wrong to ask for the feet? If it is not wrong, how difficult is the process to turn them into keychains? Jeez...as i re-read this post, even i am wondering, "is this guy serious?" We'll, i am and where else can I ask this question but to NYHUNTERS! Don't tell PETA!
BizCT
I say freeze it in a bag with as little air as possible. Bring it to a taxidermist. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Jeremy K
Dont ask ,im sure it will be in a shallow grave . Just play grave robbers after the kid goes to bed , win win.
ants
I say don't take the chance of freaking the kid out. Let them do the "service and burial". Go out and shoot a rabbit, there are tons of rabbits in Ny. If you don't/can't hunt them, its easy enough to find someone who dose.
wooly
Yes, it would be wrong to ask for the feet.... Return to the grave after dark and dig the fuzzy up. OR You may also consider pulling the ol' switch-a-roo with the casket when nobodies lookin'!
DTG3k
Wow, i like your style. How old is the kid?

She also thinks you are all nuts too for even responding to my idiocy! Lol. She just doesn't understand!
Gthphtm
Well I will tell you I just buried my female beagle yesterday ( 3 - 1/2 hours ) to dig a hole with my JD bucket. She was sick all last week and died Sat.night.She was only 9 years old loved to hunt and the last 3 days she could not even walk.If she were a pet rabbit and you asked that question,I would tell you to get off of my property and never come back.

Gt...I am terribly sorry about your lose and totally understand your position. I would never consider even asking if there were the bonds that happen between owner and rabbits similar to owner and dog. I trul am sorry if I offended you

Doc
Man! ...... That's cold.....lol. If there's an old stump nearby, maybe you could have the kid hold the pet rabbit in position so you could chop the feet off easier. Is rabbit season closed now? I would say that maybe you should go out and get your own rabbit. Even your buddy may look at you a little strange if you ask him....lol.

landtracdeerhunter
I just can't believe some of yours comments. My we all forget our childhood. How many of u had a pet u loved and the feelings u had when it died. Would u want someone digging it up or cutting the feet off of it. Come on people, have a heart.
BizCT
I just figured the foot is hard to skin. Guides usually leave the feet in when skinning an animal and let the taxidermist deal with it.
