Water Rat
So how did they get out there? Probably an escaped or released pet.
Culvercreek hunt club
It's legal to shoot an dog which isn't properly chained up during deer season if you see it chasing a deer. Which I'm sure is the case if you saw a yote going past your stand I know you mean this in jest but it is not true
CuseHunter
I know you mean this in jest but it is not trueSeriously though, I thought LEGALLY you can shoot any dog which is chasing a deer during hunting season. I would never do that because I think it is morally and ethically screwed up, but remember reading about it sewhere.

raymerlo
I think the days of shooting dogs during deer season are long gone, small game is open from Oct 1st,and not everybody hunts deer,we release pheasants and most of the time the hunters use dogs
CuseHunter
I'm serious though. I thought it was f'ed up. A guy I worked with told me about it and I thought it was ridiculous too. On that note though (leaving before being grilled)

WNYBuckHunter
I can remember reading about yote sightings in NYC for at least the last 5 years. I dont see it as very surprising that they made it to LI. They can cross bridges, etc. No need to swim.

Queens would be a tough spot for a yote to go under the radar. jmo anything now a days is possible tho

dbHunterNY
why they wouldn't allow yote hunting is beyond me. is there a law banning it? otherwise DEC should just strong arm the need. all discharge setback distances, weapons restrictions, etc. all would still apply. Curmudgeon
Glad to hear some good news from LI. Maybe coyotes will help with the excessive deer and feral cat problem.
