Witty
I thought it would be cool to see what some other members goals are for the upcoming season. Like most of you I am very excited to get back in the woods. This year I did pretty much all the scouting on my own. That is a first, genrally my dad is with me or a buddy with more experience. I had some help from a few members on here on what to look for (Thank you for that). This will also be my fiance's first season hunting (she passed the bow course last weekend and is taking the hunter education this weekend). I'm pumped to have her trying something I love (she got me to own a horse or three, she owed me lol). My number one goal above all else is to have a safe season. The second is to put her in a position to be successful. For me that would be for her to have deer within bow range. If that happens then I will have had a succesful year. If I can do that and have her take an deer, that would make this the best season ever. If on top of that I could get my first buck I might have to retire from hunting. I hope everyone here reaches their goals this season. Good luck. Edited September 20, 2013 by Witty
Lawdwaz
Honestly my only goal is to have a good time. I generally kill enough deer and don't fret too much over racks but the meat is certainly important to me & my family. Having a good time with family & friends trumps all...........................
letinmfly
Whether I kill a deer or not really doesn't matter that much to me any longer. My main goal is that my nephew gets one. I enjoy seeing the smile on his face when he does.
cdmckane
Goals this year are the same as every year: to put enough meat in the freezer that the half a cow I bought Spring '12 will last until taxes come back. This year, that'll be 3, 4 would be great.
blackradio
My goal is to take an adult deer with the bow. I've been hunting for 2 seasons with the bow and have taken 2 yearlings so taking a nice doe or buck would be great. Other than that, meat in the freezer is the goal.
BizCT
2 bucks in 1 year. 1 with the xbow in CT or PA and 1 with the shotgun in NY. I've killed 5 bucks in the last 6 years, but never 2 in 1 year. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
A Sportsman
Ill be the first to say it...2 big bucks. One with bow and one with gun. But yeah, safety, great time with friends and family, quality meat and all the things that go along with the sport, great memories.
Fantail
I save up a bunch of PTO for this time of year. I am looking forward to getting the frack out of town, camp up a storm, eat like a king, and hunt till my tags say when.
Doc
Actually the goal is to be able to get up our "cardiac hill" and get back off it in an upright condition ..... ha-ha. And maybe somewhere along the line, get a couple of deer. I'm just taking each season, one at a time just to see how many more I can keep stringing together. Each additional bow season is a goal in itself. I have an additional goal for gun season which is getting a deer with my new rifle. This year will be the first time I have ever used a rifle for deer. Love my new rifle, and am looking forward to being able to pick the exact hair that I want the bullet to hit. Antler scores and such nonsense I will leave to others. The object this year is to increase the enjoyment and quality of the hunt and add to a lifetime of memories and experiences in the woods, doing the thing that has dominated my life. sweet old bill
d me for the first time not hunting last year, it took 10 months to find what was the cause and less than a month to put me on track to be my old (71), fat, bald old fart that still loves to hunt. I have shoot the bow 3 to 4 times a week, I am ready. My goal is just to be out there and if possible to take a buck.

wooly
Only real goal for me this year is a quick clean kill with 100% recovery rate. Don't really have my heart set on any one animal in particular, but I'll know him when/if I see him.
josephmrtn
Have fun and kill a deer w my bow
chiefbkt
Main goal is to get out and fill the freezer. Wouldn't mind if a big boy happened to walk by in range, but I'll settle for a freezer full of doe meat.
Terry
Having fun isn't a goal, it's a guarantee! My goals are at least 3 deer with one being a nice buck, taking my son out as much as possible, and learning more.
growalot
My goal...to relax...enjoy the view...rest my knee and to take a deer or two before having surgery......
Renegade Hunter
I would like to get a bigger buck than last year. But regardless I will enjoy the hunt. I hope to shoot a doe early on so it settles the nerves. Then just enjoy my time in the woods with a nice crisp breeze on my cheeks. Love that fall/winter dry, crisp, cold air!
