This video has been around awhile, I remember seeing it and thinking he probably dropped his rifle and the scope shifted. 

I also remember thinking he should just throw the rifle at the deer, he might at least give it a concussion.

Thinking he is shooting over the top of him... The deer looks close too.... Thinking because he is hunting wide open lanes like that, he has his 100 zero at 3" high... Deer looks to be less than 75 yards... Shooting from an elevated stand he is going over the top... At least he didn't wound him...

My first reaction was to laugh. It almost looked like the deer was daring him to hit him.

My guess he was aiming high as told to do from a stand.  Most people sight thier gun it level then head into a stand.  Not a huge difference, but a difference none the less
