heavuser
Did some more scouting today, rearranged one of my cams and setup my tree stand on that spot in my last post. Looks like he is indeed a buck. Maybe one of you can help me, in the video below you can see he is smelling the air. Do you think he caught my scent from 3ish hours beforehand? https://photos.app.goo.gl/N9pGKhzX69xWypxu5 This was left for me the very next day, I'm assuming its the same buck.

It is possible he caught your scent. I always think they can smell the ground disturbance from our feet as no other critter tears up the ground like we do.

Pretty sure that is a mature buck.

Sadly enough I have used my tag already as well. I either have to wait till November regular or get my buddy on him. Right now I'm going the buddy route, would hate to have someone else take him out.

TheHornHunter
Got out for the second time tonight and had some dog walkers come by right at prime time… the unfortunate downside of hunting public. Cell cams at other properties were popping so going to try and get back out tomorrow AM. I’ve got some toads on cam on public land including one I’ve got history with back to 2018 so I’m dedicating most of my early season to chasing them. Hopefully my private stuff will marinade and be fresh for November. I got a cell cam pic of a bear yesterday which is pretty cool, literally 100 yards from a bunch of houses in a pretty suburban area of 8H. Never thought I’d be sharing my hunting ground with a bear hahaSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I had run ins with multiple unidentified deer on two evening hunts, but no morning action yet. No deer seen or heard the last two days. Right now, I am near an old, long-abandoned camp, in a spot that always gets real heavy deer activity, after there is snow on the ground. It’s a heck of a lot tougher up here with no snow, but hopefully one will will show up a little early. The first three mornings, I sat in the spot where I killed a doe up here last year at this time. The wind was right for it all three mornings. I gave it a break yesterday and today, but will probably go back there again tomorrow or Friday. There are young hardwoods, up on that end of the ridge, with nut-producing trees that have often held deer at this time of year.
