Lawdwaz
Happy St Valentine's Day you guys and gals. What'd you do???? (or is it just getting started??) My wife had to work this afternoon so we went out for a bite yesterday. Card, candy and a dozen Walmart (don't even think of giving me crap about that) roses topped off my end of the deal. I know lots of folks don't fret much about it but I was just curious what you lugnuts did.

Nomad
Nothing , I would have bought her a card yesterday but she went to the store with me and paid for what we bought , seemed kinda pointless . Living with me is like Valentines Day every day anyway !
growalot
Hung out at home..I baked a bunch of his favorite cookies a few days ago..We exchanged cards and. He gave me a heart box of chocolates..It's the only time of year I eat them. No flowers per my say so...what a waste of money IMO..cut flowers, dead the moment they are cut..Lol..I also baked a fresh cherry pie for dessert. We both spend a lot of time finding the perfect card...he nailed it..think I did too.
shawnhu
Went to visit the in-laws to exchange lucky money and had brunch together. At brunch, we had a few lion dancers come in and give us a performance. We tipped them with some lucky money as well. Good times! shawnhu
I could go the easy route and just Google "Lucky Money" or I could hear it from you.............................. Talk to me Goose. Lucky money is lucky to the receiver, but not so lucky to the giver. I guess you can say that applies to most cases of money transfer. In our culture, a person of marital status is expected to give money in a red envelope to others, usually family and kids. We call this lucky money. This usually happens on long journeys, birthdays, and of course, the festive lunar new year. The Lunar New Year is the biggest holiday in Chinese culture and is generally celebrated by taking off in excess of 2 weeks, sometimes months. Along with lion dances, fireworks, lucky money is woven into the tradition of the Lunar New Year for the Chinese. Elmo
My wife mentioned she wanted to watch the Broadway play "Kinky Boots". When I noticed that Wayne Brady is staring in the show and this is his last week I figured I had to get the best seats regardless of cost. Wayne Brady wasn't cheap but he was worth it. His performance made the whole show. He was outstanding. When then met him after the show and he waited out in the freezing cold to take pictures with anyone who was willing to wait for him. WNYBuckHunter
I bought some roses and made dinner for the new squeeze, candle lit and the whole 9. After that we headed out to see Deadpool (her pick for the movie), which was great. That was about it. as neither of us are that into the greeting card holiday to begin with. She would rather spend money on Jeep parts or guns than a high priced dinner, etc. I think I need to keep this one around for a while lol.
