Nothing tonite.... Looks like wind will be good for a stand sit tomorrow morning before work........

Quick blind and bow question...... How many windows do you'll have open. Mine is on a big intersection. I'm a right handed shooter so I have my 12,11,10and 9 oclock windows open and low enough to shoot through.

As many as you need  or as little as possible to make it hard for them to see you

What a great night...at 5 I had two beautiful long beards, heavy birds, feeding right under my stand in the clover...wow  birds eye view of those gorgeous iridescent back feathers.  They moved off behind me down on the ridge and started gobbling. Then my buddy the 5 or came out and fed around me unroll he crossed over and got down wind of me...he just turned and jumped into the bramble under the Apple trees. No Doe tonight but I'll be out at anther stand in the morning. It got cold 45 at 7 pm.

Well I sit here at work mapping out my game plan for tomorrow. Looking like I can shut these Mills down around 3-4am and be out of here in plenty of time for the morning hunt. This is good as I'm technically on a 12hr shift which gets done at 7am but we've been cranking out the flour and should be done early. Doesn't always happen like this!

Will probably sit on the edge of my big field for the morning then take lunch and head across the street to finish trimming up my newest stand and check the camera I put over there. Will most likely hunt that stand in the afternoon as well. Need to see if I have any active scrape juice left and get my dripper out too

What type do you buy? Regardless I'm sure everyone on this board eats the products made with our flour. Almost any type of food product requiring flour made in the NE has a very high probability of coming from here.

That's cool. I'm sure you got plenty of our stuff rolling through on the daily. I'm pretty sure we are the 5th largest mill in the country, so I'm sure our stuff is sent all over. I used to actually drive the pneumatic bulk tanker trucks that deliver the stuff but ended up getting into the mill. A lot more money and better schedule. It's a small world these days isn't it?

Good to see other guys in the food business on here! Everyone's gotta eat

One of the only sectors of business that you'll ever face cut backs or lay offs! Our mill has been here I think 70 years now and never once had a lay off. We have numerous job bids open that we can't even fill. I call bologna when people say there's no good jobs out there...they just aren't looking hard enough or they don't want to actually work.

Same here...I'm not quiet prepared to hit the stands behind the house yet...That section of woods spooks me in the dark...too many trees have just snapped off at the top a   lots of widow makers..for a dark walk in. Good luck guy's...heard a bunch of shots in last evenings hunt...looks like shot gun is the youth choice of weapon here.

I've been in stand since 6am. Had good action last night.  Wind nnw makes good direction to catch them coming out of apples from last night. Hope to see some actions that's all you can ask for.

Went out for my grandsons first deer hunt with his bow yesterday afternoon. He's only 12 so no gun yet. Went to an oak ridge where we have numerous buck sightings. Got in mid aftermoon to see fresh scrapes and rubs, all over! Wind was a bit swirley with the evening thermals. But we did not see a deer. He has two travel baseball games today. But we will hit the woods again tomorrow. On other side of property, my buddy hit one a bit back after an arrow deflection at 20 yards. Decided to wait until first light to find him. First time in more tha 15 years we have to use our dogs to track one of our own deer. We are Deer Search members. Good luck to all and keep safe!

      Hi Everyone,
It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!!

      best of holiday wishes!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas? Is there anywhere better in the area I should check out? Any info is welcome

      Hi Everyone,
My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
