I don't buy those mercury studies. My understanding is they test the entire fish and if they only tested the fillets it there would be a fraction of the contaminants. Maybe someone with some knowledge can weigh in

I do not have knowledge on this subject but here is some "state" info from the board of health for what is worth:

Round two of Saratoga Lake on Friday.  Well over 30 bass boated. Couple pike thrown in along with some good sized rock bass. So much fun just being out there! May be fishing with a member here, up there soon if we can match up our schedules!  Hoping to make it happen!20170630_122731.jpg20170630_082804.jpg20170630_133306.jpg

Had a decent morning on the stream considering nothing was rising. Got five browns to eat and also bonus, a wild brookie! I love those voracious little monsters, they're not very common in the streams I fishd6cb21df8b001e985426ff31647d4ad5.png

That caddis is as big as his head!

Cool looking fish.  My older daughter and I were out on Erie for a couple hours, just before lunch (she got up late and I had to get in early).  The smallies were hitting ok on the shoals in front of the Lakawana windmills.  We got enough for one quart-sized pack of fillets (2) 17", and (1) 16".    That is probably the last time I will be able to get out there this year, so that will probably be it for the "cleaner" fish.   They sure were healthy looking, fat and fiesty fighters.    All the rest of my bass are going to be the pcb/mercury/lead-laden ones from the Adirondacks this fall, unless maybe we can squeeze in a late summer / early fall trip or two down to Findley or Silver lake.

Caught 9. Missed a bunch. Littlest panther martins made. Lost 2 10-11" fish I at least fought for a few seconds. Most casts were flip bail, grab line with left hand and under hand slingshot pitch cast. Nice thing is hook gap so small when draped over branch I could gently reel and plop it into a hole. d2659a1192f442a7b36251648aa1ec25.jpgd02f94e6b7f00d9dda1bd65d4cc80855.jpg6196447e1839d54d473376676225e406.jpg

You finally moving up to a big boy pole Biz and retiring the pink one?

Kudos for sharing with TFs daughter!

Lol. Bought for my wife in 2009, thought it would get her to fish more and it did for that year and that was it. It's been in my rod rack in my garage ever since so when I saw TF's daughter with pink on I figured it would be better used by her. It does come with some fish scales on it, but that's a sign of success!
