BizCT
always wanted to do a bow spot and stalk elk with my old man. Still in the cards maybe, but he's getting up there. I wouldn't even care so much if we were successful. the experience would be amazing. You need 2 plane tickets for that. All thats stopping you from Africa right now is a $1400 plane ticket and 2 weeks off.......I leave in 46 days. They'll let observer shoot some of my quota off my license. Day in Jo'berg, a night at Amanzi Lodge either end, hunting Zimbabwe/Mozambique border for the rest. But if thats too soon.....I just happen to be planning a trip for mid 2018 too if I work through the winter. Just sayin'

But he has extra Cape Buffalo I have heard, so I'm taking a little extra along IF I happen to tag early, and see if that is tempting at such a late date in season; rains start in October. 6 minutes ago, grampy said: Got a couple things keeping me close to home for the next few weeks. I take more horsepower as there isn't a shot I don't like, but have used 270win-140gr A frames to much success. If I could get a group of 4 to fill lodge, could get extra discount on day rates. Over 40 reports for the outfitter on one forum alone, including one of mine, with no complaints. But I'm not herding cats to make that happen; had enough trouble with simple fishing trips to Quebec.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Somewhere in there.....can find a few in the $14k range, but can be iffy for success rates even with good operators that know what they are doing. High success.....more like $25K by the time you are done with baits. I've prebaited for 3 hunts with outfitters who made a major investment in time to get a successful hunter when they came into camp. Most of these were places with low quota and tough hunting for educated cats. Lots of fun for me shooting, dragging, hanging baits; all happen to get a good cat. I'm a lucky charm. Last year after hunting I spent several days in one of the highest density Leopard areas in Southern Africa and where my avatar pic was taken; that cat was just above eye level at less than 15 FEET away. Mature male, unbelievable animal, a killing machine like all the big cats.
grampy
OK......got my Mega and Powerball tickets in hand. All I gotta do is match six little numbers, and we're off! There are at least a half dozen guys from here that would be going with us! Wouldn't that be epic? Ah...... a dollar and a dream.........smile.

Conventional wisdom was that one could take 4-7 % a year off your investment with little worry of dipping into principal . Today that's been lowered to 4-5 % . So 40-50k per million , I can't live very well on that . What would I'd do, well at the press conference , just to show I have not changed , I'd offer 50K to a certin local reporter to show me her boobs..... The real, issue for most is lump, sum or payments . If your first thought is all the cool stuff you'll buy and the parties , the answer is simple you better take the 20 years of payments as you end up broke ( like 70 some % do) at least you'll have some money for 20 years by taking payments . Lump sum is 50% minus taxes so on 300 million , 150 about half to taxes so 75 . id get a moderate house on Canandaigua Lake and another in most likely FLA to avoid state taxes ( live there a bit over half a year) . Unfortunately living in NY when you buy the ticket you're on the hook for the taxes till you move , my plan was to move before collecting but it doesn't work that way . of course al,the normal stuff set up trusts, llc, . Estate planning . Most into Vanguard indexes , some land , I'd also stash cash and gold and buy art work and jewels , that's a way some families have transferred wealth for generations . Sometimes completely off the radar. Id get another Rolex most likely a Yatchmaster II in two tone ( gold /SS ) . And of course two chicks ..... I'm not paying them for sex, I'm paying them to,leave after ! I'd drive nothing but POS beaters and park next to Mercades and Audi's and open my doors into them .

Then taxes federal and state. NY has the highest lottery tax. I did see a report on channel 2 that lump sum after taxes you would get about 128 million. Little less if live in NYC because of extra taxes. Do not know where channel 2 got there numbers.
grampy
Loser! So it's back to work in the morning. But Dinsdale is welcome, any time, to hunt my humble small property in 4-H. No it's not the plains of Africa, but we would still have a blast, I'm sure!
