Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results

Everytime there is a shooting, we usually hear the same  protests for more gun control and the media questioning the goverment for not legistlating more gun laws.  The news reported that 100 students from the high school of the shooting went to protest for more gun control.  Do they really believe that more gun control will reduce or eliminate gun violence? Sadly so many of these gun haters are ignorant of the root causes of gun violence that goes way beyond the availability of firearms.

The main common denominators of the root causes of the majority of gun violence is found in:

  • The failed war on drugs where drug dealers get off easy and mentally ill users do not get real rehabilitation.
  • The failed mental health system that has allowed the violently mentally ill loose in society.
  • The failed corrections system that has released violent sociopaths like William "Cuomo's SAFE Act Poster Boy" Spengler back into society to murder again.
  • The failed family that has been infected with social programs.

Apparently it is true that "Insanity Is Doing the Same Thing Over and Over Again and Expecting Different Results" if all these people want is more gun control and continue to ignore fixing the root causes.

Yes, they absolutely do. They believe it like it is a proven law of physics. Just one more magic law added to the volumes of existing laws will be what turns the tide on the issue. When all you have heard all your short life is that guns are evil, or that there is no reason to own a gun, or that guns have but one purpose which is to kill, it's very easy to tag the gun as an actual cause of violence. The real reasons for the rise in violence is such a multi-faceted and complex array of social forces that it is much easier to blame an inanimate object as the cause. It is just human nature. They are so busy looking for the mythical "quick and easy fix" that they have given up on looking at real root causes and taking the fight there.

I got a idea lets make killing people against the law !!!!. And give them the death penalty or life in prison.

O WAIT FLORIDA HAS THOSE LAWS  .

I don't see adding one more law or ban on guns being a problem for these crazys  to break if threat of life in prison or death does not stop them .

Nothing will .

Only thing you can do is have better security especially when you have tip from people saying that their is a  psycho  that wants to kill shoot up the  school they were warmed and nobody did a thing there no armed guards no checking up on the kid nothing !!

So after the fact now they want are guns unreal .

Seriously I'm not a conspercy theorist but makes you think they let it happen as a pretext to ban them .

Cops warned FBI warmed school new .

Come on this is a joke

Do the gun haters who want to ban private ownership of guns realize that "if" guns are illegal  that the same government that goes after illegal drugs (the major cause of gun violence and causes many more deaths than firearms) will  go after  illegal guns?  So right now how successful is that war on illegal drugs?

At least President Trump is advocating for armed guards in schools.  Long overdue.  No need for more taxes.  The cost could be taken from foreign aid to countries who hate America, excessive dues given to the United Nations and frauds on welfare.

Arming some teachers and staff seems like it would be a cost-effective step in the right direction.  Those folks should get some type of bonus, but due to the increased frequency of school attacks lately, many would volunteer to do it for no additional compensation.  Besides more bang for the buck, they would offer additional advantages over armed security guards.   They could be put into place quickly.  Some may already be there, especially pistol permit holders in states like NY which already have tough gun laws.   They already have a feedback system in place to provide clues of where and from whom danger might be expected.   The bad folks are going to be a lot less likely to strike, not knowing who may be armed, than they would against students who are protected by a known and lesser number of security guards.

we shouldnt have to arm teachers - shouldnt be a reason for it. They are teachers not trained security.  There needs to be protection of a real option at the school.  Social security offices, hospitals etc have a guarded entrance the schools should be the same.  Have a door after the main door that is locked and each person must pass by security and a metal detector.  They have it in a lot of inner city schools already and it works pretty well.  The is no reason the social studies teacher should have to carry a firearm - that isnt who they are. This is not part of their job or training or even mindset.  Trained security or at the very least a veterans coalition of screened volunteers possibly . I say put it to a referrendum vote at each school .  For an extra $20-$25 a year per person it passes in most schools by 75%.  We pay for a guard at the social security office , DMV etc but we wont pay for guards at a school.  Cmon.  Stop leaving it as a soft target.  People will always want to do harm lets not leave the schools unprotected and stop pretending that this needs to be our last place of innocence.

I do agree with you, but in this case they actually had a cop stationed at the school and he apparently chickened out.

Dont think that this would be the norm and am sure the teachers would be more apt to respond that way.  Plus they didnt have the secure entrance with 2 guards.  But yeah how could this fellow not respond??  its terrible.  Just makes this story more and more disheartening ......

I know 4 teachers with previous military experience. You are painting with a very general brush. I wonder how many have previous armed experience? I guess until we know that number and how many would be willing to do it, your comment are pure speculation? No?

Teachers won't be forced to be armed, but they will no longer be prevented from being armed!

When SWAT eventually arrives, (if the shooter is still alive), the teachers can stand down with their hands up.  Cops run into Concealed Carry Permit holders pointing guns at perps all the time.  They are trained how to handle that and must know they may run into that scenario in any place it might happen.

Professional armed security at the entrances is still the most effective option.  Do what they do in Israel.  They have completely shut down school shootings for decades now.

Of course but dunno how you wpuldnt agree that the chances of trained law enforcement backing down or screwing up -  versus a teacher with a permit is prob more likely.   I am sure there are capable teachers out there. But I would feel more comfortable with a trained officer.  This one guy is an anomaly.

I get it. I just think there may be more teachers that have training like military training that we may think. I don’t need them to know the law as a police officer does. I want a bad guy to be laying flat once he shows up with a gun. And I do understand their are military folks that flew desks and probably would t fit either. I also think there are teachers that are just CC permit holders that would work with training and rigorous evaluations.
