That’s awesome 46rkl !  Back on stand awaiting more too , just remembered  drainage ditch was to deep this morning .

No biggie I walked around to the end , except now drag will be an extra 500 yards  , two may be a bit much !

Had an interesting sit last night. I knew the deer were coming out of the neighbors heavy brush zone in the evening to bed and browse in our woods. Sure enough, just b4 last light a doe and Button came right under me, then followed a little later by a bleating doe-fawn. Just at last light however doe started pouring from every direction. It was surreal. I was covered up in about 20 animals. Sadly nothing with horns was among them, although last light had already passed in any case.I managed to get out of the stand unseen miraculously, but once I started to move off they spooked and ran. Camera pics indicate they came right back once I was gone.

This morning I heard about 5 shots, all about 20 minutes before legal light. No doubt catching animals heading into bedding. Haven't seen any chasing activity this year. A doe yard of 20 animals or so is of no interest apparently

Doe in heat are usually alone. Yarded groups are already bread or not ready still. They kick the whores out lol

I'm curious: Do you have a picture of that blind/platform from the outside?  As my kids are starting to get older I want to bring them with me, but they would definitely need something like this to sit for more than 15 minutes at a clip.  Sonwhats the setup process/cost for something like that?

Well since I’m tagged out I decided to let my cousin sit my stand. He’s walking out there now. This is really only his 3rd day hunting. I’m really hoping he doesn’t get anything. I know that’s messed up but I don’t wanna have to clean it for him and he’s got no clue what he’s doing lol

Why is he in the woods then and why wouldn’t you want to teach him?

He’s in the woods because he wants to get into hunting. I’d prefer he doesn’t, for personal reasons. I also have no interest in teaching him because he’s kind of a dumb ass. If he was truly interested in learning he would take my advice and not tear through the woods an hour before he goes to the stand. This cam is 20 yards from the stand he sat 6cceb2e002f90d9e8f10c261cb5b579d.jpg

We own the land together.. it’s complicated he’s dense... can’t tell him anything. I showed him that pic this morning. His response there is no way that spooked deer.

It's funny, the guy who introduced me to hunting years ago has been hunting for like 30 years, but until last year, had never had to field dress his own deer. (How he was able to avoid this for so long, I am not sure.) So me and another hunting buddy helped him by holding the deer's legs for him and walking him through the process last year. I did this again last week. Doing it is not that hard. Doing it without making a mess is. (And doing it without leaving a knife behind in the field is apparently hard for me, given what I did last week.)

Haha we’ve all done that or come close.

This convo is crazy to me. Field dressing is such a fundamental part of hunting and one that should be done ASAP.

I buy those shoulder length glove packs and have it down to a process where it’s usually just my boots and pant legs getting bloody

This is my 7th or 8th hunting season, and my buddy gutted the first deer i withessed him shoot during muzzle loader season. The next year i got my first doe with a gun and since i was by myself i had to gut it by myself. I was not fast, but got it done.

I feel like i am pretty average at it now without making a mess. That being said, after i got home after gutting the doe i got last weekend my wife said: "What's that on your face? Blood?"

I guess i wasn't as clean about it as i thought. Overzealous maybe, haha.

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

Just want to relay an experience I had this weekend regarding hunting regulations and other hunters.
I've had several  hunter's tell me last weekend(10/12/2020) that muzzleloader was open, it is not. I also had two other hunters last weekend confront me as to why my son was carrying around a rifle and hunting deer. I calmly explained the youth weekend and the rules around it. After that everything was cool and we continued our hunt.
I know at the end of the day we're all trying to participate in a sport we love and maybe harvest some game. My thought is to just make sure you're up on your local hunting regulations. Not just so you are within the rules, but also so you can assert your right to be where you are, hunting the way you're hunting.
I know when I have been operating outside of the regulations I have appreciated a person respectfully correcting my ignorance and I try to pay it forward by being informed and respectfully educating when required.
Thanks for listening, off my SB...

      Hello,
I am in the process of purchasing my first rifle to go hunting deer for the first time.  However, I have received contradicting information regarding the types of rifles that are legal.  Based on what I have read, it appears that I am able to use a bolt-action rifle with a pistol grip and a detachable magazine which holds 10 rounds.  However, I have been told that this is not the case. I can't seem to find where this is stated.  Can any one here provide me with some insight into this? I'd really appreciate it.
      Thanks in Advanced,
      Alfredo
