Shed Hunting 2019

Jenn, and I are going to go for a nice long walk out back tomorrow to see if we can find an antler.  Snow just finally melted off.

Picking my daughter up at the airport .wonder why I don't see deer in the woods must be 100 deer on the air Base . One has horns still . Tried to take his picture but all I got was his eyes .lol

Jenn, and I walked 1.71 miles according to my ONX app.  No sheds found, walked slow scanning as far as we could see, nothing...

however! We founds tons of good rubs, and I marked them all on my app...so now I can do a bit more studying at least.  I did find some buck beds full of hair too.

I was at my property middle march. I found some sheds but also found rubs I didn't see at gun season. Some of them looked really fresh and had the bark at the bottom of the tree. Do you really think the deer were still rubbing Dec-Jan? I would of thought rabbits and mice would of eaten the bark?

Yes I see more runbs after season as the fawns are coming into heat.

No sheds found but a great afternoon for a half day at work and a walk.saw a few deer take off on my way in.cam pull was light.someone was curious!

Went to the farm yesterday to reboot a cell camera and spotted the first shed about 200 yards out in the middle of a field. Actually looks like last year's that got hit with the plow or disk. After finding that one, Evan and I looked more and I found number 2 for the season!

Got out for a quick walk this afternoon...found 5 plus a skull. This brings me to my goal of 20, may still get out a few more times yet.

Jenn, and I tried again this afternoon...no luck, but a good healthy walk which was nice.  Its nice she will even go out in the woods, and look for deer antlers that aren’t even there.  We went to the opposite side of the property I typically hunt, only found 3 rubs, during our slow 2 hr 1.10 mile walk....we did find a telephone poll that leads to a house deep in, that was scratched up by a bear, had hair on it face high.  Pretty cool...

Wow.

ive got 12 hours in ,Zero . Most years I average  one for each hour and a half of walking .

Going to sight my AR in tomorrow,  next trips down will be shooting or moving stands .

Technically I wasn't shed hunting.  What I was doing is sitting on an ATV making sure one of the two mute swans I'd just turned out of the barn onto the pond didn't head for the woods in a huff.

They don't like me and I'm not particularly fond of them either as you already know from past dust ups.....

As I sat there watching the swans,  for some reason I stood up on the foot pegs and looked into the woods about 40 -50 yards off to the south and spotted bone!

I ran the machine down off the dyke of the pond and into the woods and snatched it up.  I quickly recognized it as one of "club foots" horns from fall 2017 and winter 2018.  He was a 9 point each year that I'd been watching him and I pegged him at 5.5 years old (so did the DEC after he was killed by a neighbor this past Opening Day) as best as I could tell from past trail cam videos.

Here's a picture (screen shot from a video) of his rack from said year.....

And the reason I named him "club foot"..........

My shed season: 2 dead heads from 9w. Also my son's 1st "shed" 9h. It was actually broken off - I'm assuming a little battle. Not sure if I will make it out again specifically for sheds, but I am usually good for one more come Turkey season.

Cool find of the 4 point dead head. Cause of death must have been a tornado for it to end up in your gutter

Uncles dog would of ate it. It was actually 30 yds from road it may of been hit.
