Sounds just like a Hen Flying down. However his next Gobble was further away and another Gobble further away still. A Real Hen must have intercepted that Gobbler and took him away. Cynthia and, I re-set close to the last Gobbler-- but a no go. Now early In the morning , I saw 2 Jakes Fly-down roughly 120 yards away. Cynthia saw more of them. Later in the morning, I wanted to find that Tree and did indeed found alot of very fresh Turkey Scratchings under a few Trees where, I saw the Jakes Gliding in. It might be a choice to set-- up very close to where, I saw the Jakes Flying down. Cynthia has had alot of Action through 5 Mornings. never used a flapper to imitate a flydown. how often do you find this helps or hurts? Hope they are out and about tomorrow. It was nice to get that rush not during deer season. these 2 comments highlight something that's worth noting. Throughout this thread there have been a few new turkey hunters, others are reporting tons of pressure on state land. Even my old man is going to try turkey for the first time in 65 years of age. Birds don't love pressure. I'm glad we're getting new turkey hunters to be honest, it's a great species to hunt that needs support. But if you're seeing different patterns this year vs years past it might not be any more complicated than new boots on the ground, or old boots being on the ground more often. Edit to say new boots can also apply to hikers, bikers etc out in the woods too. Edited May 6, 2020 by Belo

The_Real_TCIII
I just had the textbook hunt I wish for every outing, he gobbled easily 75 times after he hit the ground. When he finally came over the rise he was facing me and gobbling right down my barrel at maybe 60 yards. He strutted and gobbled for a couple minutes then headed to my 2 o’clock and a hen was following him. He got to my right at maybe 45 and I promptly missed him. I’m sick. I did everything right but the important part lolSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro 6
2012_taco
Sorry Tacks! I had the same scenario but I took my time, had to wait for him to get close, dropped him at 45 yds as the hens were leaving and he would have followed them away from me. I'll post some pics later. Photos aren't loading.

Five Seasons
Well the plan was to get out before sunrise, but I got to bed later than I wanted and didn’t sleep great. I had the 4am mental debate that I know we all go through sometimes. One side of the brain convincing me to suck it up and go and the other providing plenty of reasons why I should go back to bed.I guess I sort of compromised and settled on a late morning hunt. Setup at 8:30 and will hunt till 11. Absolutely beautiful morning and no bugs!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
