  2. So glad there is such a united concern with the people and this country. Im sure glad you find it humourous enough to find the need to start a thread that effects ALL americans in such a manner. Apparently you have zero concern of how deeply this disturbs alot of us with him being relelected. Its obvious there is nothing to turn back time to fix the mistakes but one thing that does need to be addressed is uniting the people in this country. And this is a sure sad way to start off on a new page with a thread that tweeks the short hairs on so many people. I have zero faith in this president as his track record speaks for himself, but the least we can do is try to be optomistic, hope an pray for the change we were promised in 2008 and stand together as citizens of this country and stop the rediculous seperation, selfish bashing of others opinions, racism, for gods sake we are not a bunch of crazed cavemen. We are AMERICANS how about we all start acting like one and treat each other with respect we all deserve, move forward, work together, and show the world and most of all our children we can all prevail together. Its time to move on, grow up a little and respect each other. I know this election has weighed heavily on everyone myself included. I have many concerns and many fears moving forward for the next 4 years but damn it I refuse to let this eat at my everyday thoughts from here on out. It has greatly effected my attitude, my finances, the fear for my kids future, everything. There are many many people that feel the same way. Lets stick together from here on out shall we and stop the BS?

  6. As promised. You might want to pin this up for the next four years. I think this will be a very busy thread. Said no one, ever. Ok, it's all out of my system now. Now back to our regularly scheduled hunting talk.

  7. Don't do it.I ain't giving second chances.I pay a lot to hunt this land.Put a lot of time in to scouting and controlling my scent.I put a lot into my entry and exit of my area with controlling my scent and sounds,so the deer aren't spooked out or get a pattern. I aint taking your silly excuses like i am looking for my buddies stand, lost track of the boundries,"oh this is posted?",I "had" permission last yr,Im tracking a deer, and so on. I have DEC and OC sheriffs office in speed dial.If you hide your back tag i will take a picture of your face for them. If you don't have blood on you arrow STAY OFF MY LEASE!!!OR PAY THE JUDGE!!!!! If you are LEGIT tracking a deer......Show me the bloody arrow and i will help. During gun season..................DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!!!! I have my 12 yr old there hunting with a bow. Stay out...........You will be charged with trespassing even if you are tracking a wounded deer.No excuses during gun.You should be a better shot.sorry.If you need to Call the land owner. His name is on the posted signs!

  11. Actually this whole thread was a gloat session with some added racism comments. My comment was related to the confirmed reports yesterday of black panthers at polling sights in Philadelphia throwing republican vote checkers out of the polling places. It took an order from a judge to get them back in. If the truth is racism, so be it. I could care less what color obama is.He is a poor excuse for a president even if he was purple. If it were white guys at polling places throwing democrat pollsters out, you gloaters would be all over it.

  12. The story started last December when I hit this deer high in the shoulder and never recovered him. Disappointed was an understatement. Yesterday morning I was in my perch when around 7:30 am I heard leaves rustling. I look over my shoulder and see this giant buck working his way downwind of me. He passed right through my scent cone and didnt notice a thing. Once he hit my estrous scent pod he locked up on it, stood there smelling for a while, and started to walk off. He got to around 60 yards and bedded down....for an hour! He finally got up after I did a snort wheeze at him and he walked the trail he came in on. I saw a small opening in the branches and when he walked through I hit him with a "mah." He stopped and the shot was true! He ran about 80 yards out of sight and heard him crash. After I recovered the deer i noticed the scar on his shoulder and knew this was the beast that I hit the previous year. We rough scored him around 135. Got it on video with the s4 jacknife! I love this sport!!!

  20. if you are out in LI gun season when its cold, i suggest carrying in your warmest outer layers and putting on once you settle in. You do NOT want to head out early and work up a sweat underneath all the layers cuz in an hour or 2 you will be miserable once your body adjusts. knife, TP, compass, tags, pen, dragging rope/zip ties, food, WATER..after a few times out you will realize what you do or dont need. Get a good tactical flashlight with a lot of lumens/power so you can walk out in the dark.

  21. your right and if you hit the rump you can also hit artery... whats your point? shooter aimed for the chest, case closed... he didint hit there on accident. chest shot with little to no blood is a lost deer. the shooter got lucky and recovered the deer on a short track. good for him. If he didnt i bet you and many more would be jumping all over him for an ill advised shot choice. to each is own, i passed a 130" 12 point last season at 20 yards facing me giving me only a chest shot, i ate my buck tag, thats the name of the game... but honestly i dont care to even get into it with his shot choice any further... it is what it is.

  22. The first thing your going to need is a really big gun I would at least have a 375 weatherby mag then I go with a pack of my favorite cigars a bottle of jack daniels just to stay warm dont forget the whole corn ,the c'mere deer and the truck so you have a steady rest out the window and just so you know your safe at least 2 bags of fresh made smoked jerky or maybe a fryed bacon sandwich just in case you need a snack LOL for real just be safe hunt hard and the main thing is the TP never know when a compass and a litte water is a must then the normal hunting things

  24. I guess that I overkill my backpac. I bring a military poncho, tree umbrella, tee shirt and sweatshirt, dry socks,2 knives, wool skarf, 2 pair of gloves, drag rope, water, compass, whistle, hand brush cutter,4 pac of hot hands, string to tie tag on, matches. I know that this a lot but you never know what you are going to need when you spend the whole day on a post.

  25. What arrow nocker said. I also pack a first aid kit. Never had to use it so far (knock on wood) but I guess it's worth having. Bring a good flash light. I've left the woods a bit late before. Woods get dark even before official sunset because the trees or a mountain can block out the sun on the horizon. Woods look completely different when it's dark because visual markers won't be visual anymore. Bring extra clothing. You're going to be sweating on the hike in but once you sit down, it'll get cold real fast.

  26. well you wont be in the ADK's so all the survival stuff and maps are a waste.Unless you are hunting alone and might get hurt in the woods and need to survive freezing temps till am when search party finds ya.Doubt that.soooo. Bring a compass any way.its good for many things.First checking where you go in the your routes. You can check your wind directions with it.Then log it al in you memory bank for next time you go there. If checking the radar for wind and such before you go next time you clan plan better knowing your NESW's Dress accordingly. Are you going to be on the move or sitting. On the moove you are going to sweat.Sitting you are going to freeze.Wear wool socks.(i love wool.it wicks away moisture when you sweat). got a cusion or seat? Ok the pack.Bring snacks.Apple and such. hand/toe warmers. knife, feild dressing kit.( i do it old school.Just knife and little peice of string for the anus.) You can do trail tape.If you need to.But its a waste if you don't need it for tracking or marking a future trail. Bleat can kicks ass.Grunt tube. You can scare deer away with calls.be carefull.Especially during gun when they are sketchy. Cell phone or walkie talkie. Whistle is good too.(just in case) Zip tie for your tag. pen for tag. drag for deer. man i'm tired.its all i can think of right now. i hate fanny packs.i put everything i need in my pockets for usual hunts that aint like the ADK's where i may be lost for a while.

  27. We removed 4 buckets when we reposted it before i took it over.Found a spot where some dirt bag sat there and left a bag full of budwiser cans and soda bottles and a bunch of candy wrappers and snack wrappers.Left the chair there and everything. It was a mess.I will get it cleaned up after season when i aint lugging in and out gear.Found a rock where they left a cushion and a bunch of bush cans.So this evidence shows its more than one person. I think i can eradicate this situation tho. They Know my presence is in there now. And i know that a lott of people search the forums weather they are tresspassers or not. This time of year people are searching the web to see what kind of bucks are being taken in their area.More than you might think. Its a one month fad for some people. Some people just hunt gun and usually just put a few days in.They depend on drives and hunt in groups. Then they talk the hunt talk when hanging around other people.Seen it many times. These are the guys i usually had problems with on another parcel i used to hunt. They like to drive the posted land with some younger guys and have some shooters of on thier land. Then when you catch the driver on your land he says "i was lost.sorry.wont do it again."mean while they are dragging out that 5pt you passed on during archery. Don't get me wrong.I ain't stereotyping. There is more etiquette hunters out there than slob(i hope).Just know how the slobs can act.I have know many through my years. Some like to brag about that buck they shot on the neighbor track.hell.....hahaha.one night had a guy brag about hiding from dec and gutting a deer in the dark.Ya.......wanna join my hunt camp?hahahaha Any how no i am just venting.

  30. Funny just talked to a guy who borders me. He has about 300 acres and a trespassing problem. Local people who have put game cameras, blinds and ride atv's through the property. They just don't give a shit when confronted. The law has to play into this on for sure.

  33. i think it would be different of the deer was broad side and a hicup occurred and the arrow hit him in the head, at least we know what the intent was but there is notthing left to the imagination with the pic. the deer was facing him and a chest shot was all he let the deer give him plain and simple. i dont care what people choose to do but i would not brag about a shot like that whats so ever... guys see horns and freak out and sometimes judgment goes out the window, thats how bad things happen and people get hurt

  36. I wasn't going to say anything or add to this thread, but seeing how so many of you experienced and elite hunters are bashing on the guy, I can't help but think you guys must have been born hunters, every shot was perfectly DRT shots and the deer never even twitched. How about all those "wrong site pin" missed shots that's out there, why not bash on those guys? Heck, some of those guys are posting right here I bet. Those shots could easily could have turned out MUCH worse than this. Was a new thread created for those instances? Most of "elite" hunters are so full of yourselves it's unbelievable. Instead of encouraging ethical shots and finding out the truth, most of you are quick to crucify. Really a sad sight to see amongst fellow hunters. Who's to say he was not aiming for the jugs? Hunter's Ed taught us that there is more than one kill zone, and as stated already, the jugs is a real fast and painless way to drop a deer. The arrow through the lip could very well be the deer jumping, can any of you nay Sayers be sure he was aiming for the head? Bottom line is, he may not deserve praise for the shot, but he shouldn't be crucified for it either.

  39. I find it hard to believe he jumped the string but then i think back to the second buck i ever shot at. I was sitting in a stand along a tractor path in front of a big block of apples on my left and big thicket of spruce on my right that deer bed in. I had laid down a scent line walking down the tractor trail through the bedding area to my stand. I had also stuck a scent canister on one of the apple trees at 15 yards. I was sitting in my stand watching a couple bucks running a doe in the apples when i caught movement out of the corner of my eye. I turned slowly to see a huge 6 point with a snow white rack nose to the ground following my trail. As he passed my stand i drew when his head was behind some grass nose still to the ground. He stopped at my scent wick and as soon as his nose touched it he stiffened right up, legs locked and hair standing up (he smelled me on the wick). He was at 15 yards quartering away. I took the shot. Shooting my dads 1973 Fred Bear Whitetail II i watched as the buck dropped and loaded his legs to jump and had he jumped forward i would have cleanly missed. Instead he pivoted back to his right directly into the path of the arrow. I watched as the arrow drove right into the base of his neck / upper back just above the shoulder blades (spine). Only he didn't drop (obviously impacted bone but did not sever the spine). I watched as he ran up hill 40 yards to the other tractor trail and stood there for 15-20 seconds with my arrow sticking straight up out of the back of his neck. I am not sure if the broad-head even fully penetrated. He then took off back down the trail he came. I tracked him for 400 yards before completely loosing blood. Now i am sure that anyone that saw that arrow in that deer would have thought what a horrible shot. Who the $%#% would have taken that shot. But i am also sure that i am not the only one who would have shot thinking that they had a good opportunity to harvest a magnificent deer. I learned a lesson, don't shoot a spooked deer. And for the record he did live. He was shot the next season opening weekend of gun season by the neighbor and was now a 4.5 year old 7pt. The neighbor wondered how i knew he had a broad head wound between his shoulder blades. I replay that scene every year while i sit in a stand.

  41. Actually, you don't even need all those valid reasons. The presence of a posted sign indicates that uninvited visitors are not welcome and that it is illegal to procede further. Even if you do not hunt at all, trespassing is trespassing, and it's against the law. That's all the reason that has to be given. I get damned tired of people ignoring the rights of the landowner to be left alone.
    1 point
  42. Set your stand where u want if you happen to see another hunter in the other stand, tell them you are the only one with permission as far as you know according to the landowner. I'd also lock your stand. You might find out it is another neighbor that hunts there knowing that the owner doesnt care or maybe they asked years ago and the owner has forgotton. Some times its better to make friends than enemys. You may need to recover your game from another property and it would burn the bridge before it can be built.
