  5. Warning for Men! Clever Scam...warn your friends!! This is very serious stuff! Women often receive warnings about protecting themselves at the mall and in dark parking lots, etc. This is the first warning I have seen for men. I wanted to pass it on in case you haven't heard about it. This will only become more commonplace as the holiday’s get closer. This is a 'heads up' for those men who may be regular Lowe's, Home Depot, or Sam’s Club customers. This one caught me by surprise. Over the last couple weeks I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get some simple Christmas gifts has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends. Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking 20-something girls come over to your car dressed as Santa’s Helpers as you are packing your shopping into the trunk. They both start helping you pack your stuff into your vehicle. What catches your eye is the very short bright Red Santa helper miniskirts they are wearing and the tight fitting Deep “V” neck red top shirt with their breasts almost falling out. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to McDonalds to get some hot cocoa and a snack. You agree and they get into the back seat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen July 24th, 26th 28th 29th, 30th, twice on August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and very likely again this upcoming weekend. So tell your friends to be careful.!! What a horrible way to take advantage of men during this holiday season. Warn your friends to be vigilant. These girls will not give up, they have proven it over and over again with me. By the way, Target has wallets on sale for $2.99 each. I found cheaper ones for $1.99 at Wal-Mart and bought them out. Also, you never will get to eat at McDonalds. I've already lost 11 pounds just running back and forth to Lowe's, Home Depot, Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart and Target. So please, send this on to all the older men that you know and warn them to be on the lookout for this scam. (The best times are just before lunch and around 4:30 in the afternoon.) Update : Somebody reported this dastardly crime to the local police.Seven undercover officers were sent to various locations to put a stop to this criminal activity. So far no arrests have been made but the officers have lost a total of 37 billfolds,11 badges and three guns.

  9. The sad part about things these days is that the first thought that goes through our minds is that its a scam (and probably is). It would be nice if she truly needed your help and you were able to do a good deed and not get scammed.

  10. Hello Everyone, My name is Chris. I grew up in Binghamton, NY. Never did a whole lot of hunting back home just a lot of trap and target stuff with my gramps. For the past few years I have been hunting mule deer and boar pretty successfully out here in California. I am stationed here with the Marine Corps but am moving back east this winter! Can't wait to see some real game up in NY. Anyways hope to get some good info and maybe meet up with some guys for a hunt this deer season.

  11. Checked my cam for the first time this year. Same spot as always near acorns in Putnam County (3N) on private 8 acres behind some houses. I got 318 pictures since 8/9/14 and most were deer with some red fox and unfortunately 1 ATV. Luckily my cam wasn't stolen. Also unfortunate, is that this cam takes much better night pics than days pics. All the bucks I have pics of during the day in mid morning and mid afternoon but they don't come out as clear as the nighttime pics. I don't want to invest in an expensive cam, worried it might get stolen. Anyway, here's a few of the many pics I got. Looks like a few different bucks, maybe 2 6's? tough to tell. But regardless, happy to see bucks. Anyone good at adjusting the pics so I can get a better look at those 2 bucks together? I have like 10-15 pics of those 2 bucks together, but none are very clear.

  13. I decided to make a wing bone call from the turkey I shot this spring. It was a fun project and I enjoyed doing it. I got some tips from a few members here as well as you tube. I used epoxy to hold the 3 pieces together and rod wrapping thread to "dress it up" . Overall, I am happy with how it came out, but I wanted the colors black/ green/ brown to look like camo, the problem was when I put the finishing glue on the green thread it turned it dark and almost makes it look black. I also added some turkey footprints. I look forward to putting it to use

  22. Lawdwaz -- Just consider it as "Paying it foreward" and forget about it . You could have spent $10 on a lottery ticket and lost so the $10 for gas is no big deal other than it got us away from arguing other rediculous crap . As for guys holing up signs that say "Will Work for Food" , one of those guys spoke on Brother Wease's show when he was on WCMF . The guy said "HIS" spot was on the 104 X-way and he stayed out long enough to get enough money for Beer and other treats . He had no intention of working .

  26. The world has changed my friends. The days of picking up a hitch hiker or taking someone's word for truth or even stopping to help a motorist change a flat tire are just about finished. It sounds as though the young lady you helped may have been legit, at least until she got out of your sight. I am a very generous person that is usually first in line to help those in need. It bothers me greatly to refuse those who ask for help. But after being taken advantage of numerous times, your guard goes up against anyone that approaches you. I believe you did a good thing, even if you never see that money come back to you. These are sad times.

  27. For all you SUV/minivan users who put the deer IN your car...what about ticks? Don't they end up all throughout your car? I think I would prefer to strap it to the roof (tastefully if possible)and deal with the critics as opposed to potentially subjecting myself and family to ticks for weeks later

  28. We lost a close friend to ALS . Lucretia had a beautiful voice and loved the outdoors ( biking , skiing , camping ,etc) . She was a song leader at church . She came down with ALS , was confined to a wheel chair and could no longer speak . She had to use one of the machines where she typed a bit and it spoke the message . She had lost most of her motor skills and passed away . It is a terrible sight to see someone's health degrade with this illness . Nuts to the ice . I donate to ALS .

  29. Nope, not to ALS and I dont plan to. I donate to other charities, ones that I want to donate to, not ones that people peer pressure me into.

  33. Unfortunately, I will be at work. Not much of a attention or celebrating type of guy. For my "day", I took my son to the zoo yesterday for the first time. I got my happiness vicariously through him. He got so excited when he saw some of the animals. My wife kept asking me what I wanted (materialistic wise) and I told her I have everything I want/need. In March, I'm heading down to San Antonio for a wedding so I going to book a feral hog/javelina hunt while I'm out there. My wife said she'll pay for it as my gift.

  34. Got these 2 bucks on camera this week. Where they were during the season....no idea, never saw them. Next Year! disregard the date and time on the pics. My Wildview Extreme 2 camera resets the date / time whenever the camera is jiggled, bumped, or looked at too hard.

  40. Well I broke the news and my wife was a trooper about it, as she is with most of my antics. The pup is 90% housebroken already. Only 1 accident in 3 days and when she has to go, she will whine at the back door. I think we got a winner for sure. She likes the carpet in the truck WNYBH! She also prefers it clean without blood stains. She told me so.

  42. Stopped down to the farm to swap camera cards and check the plots. Plots are doing well, heres a few pics. First one is the Turnips, Winter Peas plot. Just a close up of the peas. Next is the Evolved Habitats Great Lakes Mix. The seed is a few years old but is doing well. Its the same as their current 7 Card Stud mix minus the oats. Last is the Rape and Hog Radish plot. Got a few good bucks on one of the cams. One shooter and a couple of up an comers. Did yard work today, but got my sprayer working (replaced lines and wiring). Should serve my purposes. Then got some shooting in with the kiddos. My daughters first shot at 20 was smokin! She backed it up with 10 more within the heart area.

  44. I purchase wooden clothes pins and industrial adhesive tractor trailer bumper reflector tape. I cut the reflector tape into strip's and stick them to both sides of the clothes pin. I clip them on tree limbs about every 30 yards. With a green, blue, or white flash light they light up like someone shinning a flash light back at you. I have put them 200 yards across farm fields and they reflect great even at that distance.
