Imagine the hissy fit LIL King Andy would have if tons of people started posting pics of themselves posing with checks made out to Astarino or with the new gun they bought with the money. LOL!!5 points

Oct 1, 2012. 72 degrees and sun, 6.5 y/o via deer lab. People talk themselves out of success sometimes.3 points

They bait and cheat because they couldn't kill a deer any other way. They are not hunters, they are poachers, liars, cheaters, and scum.3 points

Any ethical hunter regards this illegal activity repugnant.. But when you get so worried about what the OTHER guy is doing that it takes away from your own enjoyment of the sport, well..There's something sad about that....3 points

They didn't stop him because they didn't actually see him take anything, and by law they can't accuse him of stealing nor can they stop him from leaving. I know because I work for a big box store and unfortunately those are the rules. Yes...the rules suck!! The reason the manager didn't chase him is because if the kid was to get hit by a car running through the parking lot it would become a major law suit for the store and the manager.3 points

All different levels of bowhunters out there. The only one I worry about is me. I do my best, and can't ask for anything more than that.3 points

If it makes you feel any better I am sure Belo's taxes cover his own child's costs. Yours goes to pay for the ones that are on welfare.2 points

Funny this topic comes up. Since I'm a full time student now I spend a lot of time around young immature kids (thrilling I know). I've become "friends" with a few of them and last week we were talking about bow hunting. This one kid asks if I was excited about bow season and I said yeah I've been shooting a few hundred times a week. He instantly replied with yeah, I still need to get arrows, broadheads, and shoot my bow. But I'll probably just go a couple days before and get them and go out. I immediately told him that was an extremely poor decision. I convinced him and another kid to get their bows and meet me at Bass Pro after school. I then had them bring their bows over so we could shoot. We started at 10 yards and it was pitiful, literally couldn't hit a 6" circle. So over the course of 2 hours we made adjustments to their bows, form, and draw style. By the end of the session they were putting 6/6 arrows inside 6" at 20 yards and 4/6 arrows inside 6" at 30. I suggested to them to practice at least once a week starting in August. They were pretty grateful and said nobody had ever helped them shoot before and that they just took the course, picked up bows, and started hunting. I was happy to help and glad I did. To think they were basically just going to go out without practicing.2 points

The funniest thing about this post is the SAME topic, was posted by the SAME guy, last year around the SAME time. http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/18373-paper-plate-archers-in-full-effect-today/?hl=%2Bpaper+%2Bplate+%2Barchers+%2Bfull+%2Beffect+%2Btoday There's also a post in last years "Live from the stand 2013" from the SAME guy talking about his own complete miss. Not exactly what you'd expect from one of our "top echelon archers" as he refers to them.....so maybe some guys need to take their own own advice before opening their mouths and being so critical of others abilities. BTW- I still need to google what a pugilist is. I might be one and I don't even know it!2 points

just to add..my personal feeling : attaching any number to a rack is the worse thing in modern hunting times... if your happy with it take it. way to much time worrying about what a rack will score. if its in the top 10% size wise in your area its a trophy.2 points

If you know that certain people are doing this sort of thing and have any sort of evidence, eye witness accounts, or anything that is actionable by the DEC, call them on the TIPP line http://www.dec.ny.gov/regulations/393.html You can be the eyes and ears that they, with their diminished numbers, need to enforce those laws that you want these creeps to live by.2 points

So two young guys....obviously new to archery and hunting......and instead of offering pointers and encouraging them you felt the need to go on the internet and belittle them. Nice going champ..........you must be the grand archery champion2 points

I'd like to see some loads actually chronographed... 15 % for a drop of 24" to 20" seems like a lot to me, especially when you consider that a case that size should work best with a medium burning powder like RL-15, Varget, or 4895, rather than one of the slow burners that tend to benefit more from longer barrels.1 point

I bailed on ADK bow due to 70 deg temps and will do opening on LI instead. I know they still move but this type of weather tends to shut down daytime activity.1 point

But I will admit that I have never sent a text message or even have the equipment to do so, do not sit on the couch all day playing video games, and don't walk around wired up for constant communications. So what? But oh my .... I do own a computer.1 point

Honest hunter, I completely understand your take on the long island situation. It can be so frustrating. My latest peeve has been since I'm hunting some of the county properties, I'm seeing chain on stands up. Which are explicitly not allowed. I will be calling park police. As said, all you can do is try to enjoy your hunting and try to let the bad "stuff" roll off you. And try to work in some upstate trips to help keep your emotions in check.1 point

He had that in quotes...I'm thinking...the season starts later?...Yes it happens every where...ya just have to keep fighting it...and yes "serious " hunters manage to take the big bucks in Sept here as well...I always find it curious. When there are absolutely no seasons open...and the farms are to our south and west . Every single Sept just at velvet drop the nights fill up with all kinds of gun shots just to our north east. How suddenly some well known roamers just disappear never talked about...but a year later are on some guys wall....hhhhmmm.......All you can do in those situations is be the best hunter you can be and take pride in the legal takes you get....1 point

Sorry, but a college education is not something that should be guaranteed for everyone. You already get a high school education on the tax payers dime. You want to get a better job than that will get you? Work for it, aka pay your own way. What the hell is with this entitlement mentality now days? What happened to EARNING things and being proud of it? Sorry if that offends you, but if the shoe fits...1 point

The D333 while a Moultrie, isn't one of the more popular cams. And by popular, I mean tested en masse by the general public. Troubleshooting game cams is somewhat of a community effort in that users with new cams tinker and find out what works and then spreads the word about that "fix." The two major things I would look at are the sensitivity and the plotscan/plotwatcher/time lapse mode. I know you said you checked the latter, so what setting is the sensitivity at? If that is set to normal or low, and you are positive that the time lapse is off, then that leads into some detective work. So, look at your pics, did the cam start taking pics as soon as you left and pretty much up until you arrived? If yes, and the time lapse is off, I would consider that cam a "runaway" cam, meaning it is triggering nonstop. In that case I would return/warranty the cam. You could also look at the vegetation at the camera set - is there alot of blowing or moving branches, grass, corn, etc.? That could be a factor, too. But, 1,800 of the 1,833 being blanks, then that concerns me. If you don't want to return it, I would research a way to get the camera to default settings. I'm not familiar with the D333 but sometimes there is a default setting in the menu/user interface, or there may be a "reset" button you have to depress. If you can't find it easily, I'd research that online. I'd get the cam to reset/default, put in new batteries and a clean working card and then program the camera to your desired settings and test it in your yard overnight for a day or two. You might be able to figure the cause then. Please let me know if you have any other questions, I am more than happy to offer advice as I can.1 point
