You guys all realize that we have a lame-duck president, accountable to no one. And now you are catching on to what happens when you get a flaming socialist in that kind of position. There's quite a lot of havoc that can be raised with people's rights when a leftie finally gets into this position of free untouchable reign. But it is funny listening to the leftist apologists defending this stuff.5 points

And again the big picture is missed. This is not thin. Since the California shooting, all that has been said is terrorists on a no fly list can buy guns. Now he talks more intense background checks and hiring over 200 new FBI agents to do them. How many gun toting bible thumping constitution lovers who have already been labeled terrorists by the king will end up on that list? By the way this list is done without due process. I know two people who are on the list. No criminal history. Many more will be added. Now on to mental health backgrounds. You know all that information the govt can not access. Not any longer after this. If you took welbutrin to stop smoking, well guess what, It is antidepressant. All this is exactly what I have been saying for over a year, and no one wants to listen. Well here it is. Good luck all.5 points

Well. Where to start. My wife would tell you I have way too many things I am involved in. I do like to shoot and that is one thing my daughter loves to do with me besides fishing. Totally unrelated I like to take on side carpentry jobs and work on our camp. I just recently took on a new hobby and it is doing a little blacksmithing. I built my own forge. I actually picked up an anvil from a member on here and my wife got me a bigger one as a gift. Going to be taking a few courses over the winter and have already started making some of my own tooling for doing the work.4 points

Always found it funny. When deer hunting, there would be half a dozen squirrels running around a spot. Then you go out to hunt the squirrels, and don't even see one! But see a bunch of deer! What's up with that?3 points

Hello, As you might guess I'm new to the forum here. I'm an avid NYS hunter and live outside of Rochester. I haven't looked around the forum much but plan to. I figured I hunt so much and am a member of other great online hunting communities that when I found this one I should join. A little about me. I kill Deer for the meat, conservation, and to help keep auto insurance premiums down. I'm not a big buck guy but they do a better job at filling my freezer. The small ones taste better, have a larger impact on conservation policies, and have more of a chance of getting hit by a car. I nuisance hunt for a couple of farmers around and average 6-10 Deer a year. And yes I eat them all. I don't bow hunt anymore but used to. I Turkey hunt for the trophy and for the meat. I kill Coyotes because they're a nuisance and in the interest of conservation. My passion is coon hunting. I'm an avid houndsman and run my dog all year round. Since I had my daughter less than a year ago I'm down to running the dog 3-4 nights a week. I have a 1.5 year redbone pup currently. My last hound was a HTX titled redbone. Before that I grew up running rabbits with beagles. I'm a Veteran of the NYANG. I'm big into Marlin 22's. I have a concealed carry permit but carry open as often as I can, because despite what anyone says it's not illegal. I haven't been charged yet. I own HuntingTactical.com and believe in improving the safety, effectiveness, and enjoyment of hunting through the use of modern technologies. I currently have just patented a stock for the Marlin Model 60 and am working on getting it into production. The stock is specifically designed to take advantage of a loophole in the Safe Act and bring back all the technology that law tried to take away. That was not a advertisement don't ban me yet. I look forward to meeting some great people on here and sharing some great stories.2 points

Newest glitch beyond the no fly list. People onssa ssi and ssd will be scrutinized cloisely. Anyone with any mental health concerns are disqualified. A lot of veterans fit that label. Anyone who thinks this is the end of it and it is thin, much less supports it needs their heads examined.2 points

I'm not okay with that at all, and I never was. You're arguing that one more small loss of Liberty is not a big deal, when it is in fact a very big deal to many of us in this country, because even a tiny loss of Liberty is still a loss. Never give an inch.2 points

Absolutely! Went out several times in the last two weeks and it seems the squirrels are tucked away in their cozy little bushy tail beds... so I started tracking rabbits and spooked two deer in a young spruce grove.2 points

You don't think owning a firearm is already subject to hundreds of laws and restrictions? Obama just added more of them. It's becoming more common on a daily basis, to see drivers who can't handle the "privilege" too. But when they don't, they are arrested and jailed. Obama isn't trying to infringe on the driving "privileges" of every American because some speed, drive recklessly, drive drunk or intentionally drive into crowds to kill lots of people. Does he demand high horsepower sports cars be banned? Or crotch rocket motorcycles? No. He allows far more freedom where a government endorsed "privilege" is granted, than he does for a Constitutional right. Why do you suppose that is? Perhaps it's because you are no threat to government oppression and wanton tyranny when you own a car or motorcycle, but as a gun owner you are. It has nothing to do with safety, violence, crime or gangs. It has everything to do with freedom and the governments desire to impose complete control without effective opposition. Support the government's desire to disarm Americans and suffer the obvious oppressive repercussions that will follow and the constant escalation as well.2 points

The only part this has in common with a "bow" is an arrow. That does not make it a "bow"... If I put a bullet in a slingshot that doesn't make it a gun... Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk2 points

Nice thread. It starts with a veiled suggestion of 'what someone in this country should do' to the President. A few posts later, a statement that calls the President a 'kenyan born monkey', and the only one on the thread getting attacked is the guy that called out those posts. Another proud moment.2 points

The genie is out of the bottle ..... lol. I knew the crossbow was just the beginning. Technology knows no bounds. Just look at todays compound bows for proof of that. Bow season started with a bent stick and string. Now look at it. I warned of every addition to bow season setting new precedents for the next. I can only repeat that warning.2 points

Up where WJ lives in northern NY, the deer tend to be heavier. Here along the Pennsyltucky border in Steuben County, the heaviest BUCK I have ever seen weighed was 185 dressed, although I have heard reputable accounts of a few 200 or a little heavier, and that's in 50+ years of hunting. In some other areas, however, like the western Lake Plains and the Adirondacks, a buck over 200 pounds is a nice buck, but is not rare. I would say that a 160 pound dressed weight doe from the Northern Adirondacks is certainly within the realm of possibility.1 point

To keep the SIM active, buy a package once every 59 days. Packages last for 30 days. Basically, 60 days is two billing cycles, and if you go two billing cycles without a package, ATT thinks you are no longer using the SIM and you are removed from the network. You would then need to go to the store and get a new SIM.1 point

So, what is the news here? I read the posted article and learned nothing new. Coyotes kill some fawns, maybe quite few in areas with a lot of deer. It is just a propaganda piece. It is just the flip side of HSUS propaganda. No better. No worse. If all you care about is more deer, you are missing an awful lot of what is going on out there. No one here has called these animals docile. No one has denied they can be a very rare danger to people. The anti-coyote crowd does seems to have a serious problem with risk assessment. Some things to consider: How does the risk of coyote attack compare to other risks - lightning, dog bite, bee sting, terrorism, plane crash, self inflicted gun shot wound, falling out of tree stand, being murdered by a family member, eating bacon? What percentage of a coyote's diet is deer? At what time of year? How does this vary in the different ecozones of NYS? What mesopredators are kept in check by coyotes? How does this affect small game populations - esp grouse and turkeys? How many of you know enough about the flora where you hunt to determine if deer are 1 - impacting forest regeneration, 2 - encouraging invasive species, 3 - negatively impacting other wildlife habitat? I suspect not many. As other threads have established, deer numbers vary widely across the state. Coyotes must be the reason where numbers are low. The areas with high deer numbers must not have any of these "dogs from hell".1 point

So what I'm gathering is that you may only see the spot that the antler was attached for a short while. So I should be looking at everything else other than the antlers to try to identify something unique. I looked back at some pics of mine and noticed a couple deer with wounds. One looks like something took a chunk out of its back. Wonder if that hair will stay messed up or heal over completely. I appreciate some pictures of potential before and afters. looking online didn't give me a ton of before and after photos. Thanks WNY Bowhunter Anybody else have some?1 point

The thread is about this new contraption and the possibility of it being considered to be a weapon for bow season. Probably the relevance is a bit over your head.1 point

NYB is irrelevant. Bowhunters are completely unorganized and have no political voice at all (that anyone is still listening to). We did a good job on that. So it is really of no concern whether NYB likes it or not. Outside forces are now free to steam-roller over bowhunters at will.1 point

???????...I'm betting that there are LOTS of "predatory animals" in Albany... County judges do a lot of editorializing in their treatment of pistol permits and it's a damn shame that they are allowed to take such liberties with OUR liberties.. I was told that here in Steuben, there are only two types of permits..One to possess a handgun in your home and one to carry concealed. everybody I know locally who has a permit is licensed to carry concealed..1 point
