  1. I've been on this site once before and got off because of the same reason. Lack of respect n the desire of some to argue every point. Forums are good for discussion, sharing ideas n differences in opinion or experience but attacking another is childish. Didn't know where else to write this so I put it here. We're all brothers n sisters, no need to name call or harass

  9. "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." -- Benjamin Franklin If the FBI is actually incapable of retrieving information from this phone, maybe they should focus more on not letting these a***oles into our country to begin with. A thorough investigation of the Obama/Jarret agenda would likely obviate the need for trying to screw with The People in a Free-market economy.

  12. From what ive seen over the years, where i hunt and live in 8P, the deer dont really yard up, maybe into some 2 or 3 family doe groups .. but thats about it. My guess is because of the amount of food around. From ag fields and food plots and natural browse.. there must be enough of it around. But this picture above is proof obv. must depend on the area and its food source per deer #

  20. They should not ignore it but they should follow the process to appeal it. I for one don't have anything to hide and still load custom roms on my phones to avoid as much government and Google tracking as I can. If it doesn't do anything it at least makes me feel better. If I built a homemade PC and installed windows on it and set it so if you entered the password too many times it exploded Microsoft wouldn't be called in to hack my system. Terrorism or not some people just don't want the govt in their stuff. The FBI should be using their own resources and if they can't do it move on or hire better people.

  24. I was wondering about this. I spooked a trio today while I as out stomping the brush for rabbits. They must have been laying down on the back side of a fallen tree basking in the sun. I kicked one fallen tree that was resting on another and they took off like missiles. The big male up front had a full rack. I thought they normally fell off by now. EDIT: Also saw a tiny fox (no bigger than my wife's cat) and a pair of beautiful snow owls.

  27. Very interesting comment. It bothers me that this has been turned into an party-line issue (in general - not singling out the OP). I lean very right and was surprised to find out that I am apparently very "left" on this one. Of course, there are many conflicting "facts" out there and people are spinning the story in different directions. As I understand it, the feds want Apple to write and provide software that will enable the feds to hack the phone. Based on this, I have to side with Apple.

  28. I am not saying it is a poor cam - just that the cost of the warranty/replacement is built in. The other thing is - cams are still evolving quickly. In 5 years, that cam won't even sniff the current technology at that time. Not a lot of people have cams 5 years old - possibly because the cams don't live that long - but I doubt many hunters using cams would really enjoy a cam that long. It'd be put in the "high risk area" or the crappy spot because all their other cams are newer/better/faster, etc. Some people would like that peace of mind, no doubt, and would use the camera til the wheels fall off. But, it'll be a dinosaur in 2020. Once the market levels - I definitely see value in a cam lasting 5-10 years.

  31. Back to the OP... I can see both Apple's & the Fed's side of this issue. Govt want to find out if there was any facilitating or funding involved in the Calif terrorist attacks. Apple doesn't want to simply hand over there proprietary technology, thinking it could be used in future situations. Or... it might cost Apple $M to redevelop their encrypting technology, which surely would be passed on to future I-phone costs. I'm no rocket scientist, but it appears clear to me that they (both) should stop the pissing match and simply hand over the phone(s) to Apple and let them tell the Feds what they found! TOO simple..?

  32. I consider myself a very avid shed Hunter. I usually find on average about 15 year. The single biggest thing I can say is to look where there are a good concentration of bucks. If there arent any bucks in the woods then youre wasting your time. Winter is different than fall. A buck that May be in there in October or during the rut usually might not be in that specific area during the winter. My rule of thumb is usually look in the thickest nastiest stuff or on South facing ridges Inviato dal mio iPhone utilizzando Tapatalk

  33. Beautiful morning, 24°F, no wind and sun beaming down on 23 deer out across the field out back. 16 in low brush (dried goldenrod) with 5 of those bedded down. The 7 more up on a field rise where the snow has melted to expose the grasses. I had the spotting scope out and could see one that looked like a buck who had just lost his rack. I'm not absolutely sure but it was definitely a gnarly forehead. During the 15 minutes or so of watching/counting deer, a very healthy looking fox came out of the nearside goldenrod obviously looking for mice.

Friend suggested this. It falls apart without the intense pulling my pork ( lol ) Smoking on apple chips from my folks tree they had removed over the summer.

  37. There aren't any cons unless you consider time spent doing it a problem. You can as stated fine tune a gun and make it shoot fantastic. Best part is once you figure it all out you just make more. Same everything so nothing changes. One thing I'd say though is every serious reloader I know uses a RCBS, they're sturdy, easy to get parts for and their customer service is gotta be one of the best. Good luck w whatever you decide

  39. I would typically call this my Strong one a day IPA however this batch came out different. I think I carmelized it a bit while brewing which made it come out more like bitter candy that makes you happy. If that makes any sense to ya. It makes the hair on the back of my neck stand straight because my senses get overwhelmed and don't know what to do I think. Anyone who's tried this batch says something similar.

  44. My daughter lives here in Rochester her boyfriend is in med school in NYC, she goes from a treestand here one day to a Broadway play the next, although seeking out the better pastry shops is more her thing in NYC. That's a nice life. I'm a woods guy, but I'm happy to say I've been to Peter Lugars, McSorleys,Carmine's ,top of the Empire State Building , Ground Zero, Ten House, cruised on FDNY's fire boat, and walked across the Brooklyn Bridge ( passed on the chance to buy it ) and many other places in NYC. It's a great place to take a family around Christmas as well . Oh and I slept on a couch in Park Slope that Levon Helms crashed on when he was in town. No not at the same time......

  46. What are the benefits of having a system that is agile? One that jumps from every game management fad and what is fashionable at the moment, to another "great idea?" Not me. I understand that there are a lot of other possible user-groups out there as you enumerated, but like it or not, deer season is king. And bow season is sacred to many of us.

  47. couple tips. #1 check at pet stores for crushed media. I can't remember which animal bedding it was used for but it is waaaay cheaper going that route. I also put about a table spoon of Brasso Polish in the media and run if for a few minutes to mix prior to putting in the casings. #2 I am sure about everyone here used dryer softener sheets. save your old ones. cut into strips about 1" wide and 4-5" long. drop 3-4 of them in the media when you add the casings. you wouldn't believe the dust that those things collect while moving around in there. One time use. Keeps the media much cleaner.

  48. Here you go. 1st, the components. 1/16 x 1/4" bell reducer. (1/8"pipe size for the small end will work, but if you can find the 1/16" reducer you will be able to drill out the small end for a nice slip fit over the 1/4" screw) For magnum cases or those W/a case head larger than .473 use a bell reducer W/the large end for 3/8" pipe thread or enlarge the big end of the reducer so that the case can enter as it pulled from the die.. 1/4" x 20 x 2 1/2"socket head machine screw. 1/4" x 20 nut 1/4" flat washer. Tools needed; 1/4" drill bit #7 drill bit 1/4" x 20 tap 1/4" x 20 die File to face off the ends of the bell reducer 3/16" Allan wrench Face off the ends of the bell reducer, then drill a 1/4"clearance hole through the small end (if all you can find is a 1/8" reducer, this step can be eliminated) Use a 1/4" x 20 die to run additional threads onto the machine screw. you will need @ least 3/8" of threads protruding through the bell reducer when the nut is run all the way onto the machine screw & the screw is inserted into the bell reducer. That is all there is to making the puller. To pull a stuck case from a die you must 1st drill through the flash hole of the case & tap W/the 1/4": x 20 tap. Here is a case that has been stuck in the die after the shell holder pulled the rim off. Note the deformed rim and the threads that have been tapped in the case. Place the bolt through the bell reducer with the nut turned onto the bolt so @ least 3/8" of thread is showing. Screw the threads into the case until l the bell reducer is pulled up against the base of the die. While holding the socket head screw W/the Allan wrench, tighten the nut until the case is pulled free from the die. Now, a tool to check for incipient case head separation. A large paper clip will make a functional tool for this. You want a wire small enough to "catch" on the groove/ridge that will result on the inside of the case as incipient case head separation begins to occur. Bend a short leg < 1/8" long on one end & another longer leg on the other that will allow you to "index" the short section while it is inside the case. Add an additional bend so you can hang the tool on your loading bench. If all you have is heavy gauge wire, file the end to a point so it will "catch" & allow you to feel the defect. Make the tool longer than the longest case you will need to check. If you look closely near the top of the case just ahead of the web you can see a slightly "bright" ring starting to form on the case. This is what to look for on the outside & will usually manifest itself before anything can be felt on the inside. The tool will confirm the onset of case head separation or detect that which is not yet visible on the outside. Here is another shot where, if you look very closely, about 3/8" ahead of the rim, you can see the slightly brighter ring beginning to appear. This case must be discarded.

  49. This is likely why your valley is not where it should be. Lengthen the chord and tie it further down the cable. I tie mine directly into the cable (serve above the where the chord is inserted in the cable) and simply set in the split cable then draw the bow on the board until it hits full draw, pull on the chord until arm is fully erect and then let down the bow. Mark that spot on the chord, pull it further through the cable and cut/melt at the marked point. That will stop it where you need it. That will ensure that the arm is coming up at the last possible moment, but still being fully raised. You will find your valley again.
