Started working full time when I was 13. After 50 years I'm done. As of today I am retired. More fishing, hunting, and trapping. Hope to be more active here and other forums also. I wonder if I should tell the Wife?14 points

You bite your tongue! Chupacabra Vs. The Alamo was an incredible movie! I watched it on my flight to New Orleans year before last. Fantastic movie. You should also check out Lavalanchula it has Steve Guttenberg in it and they fight tarantulas that came out of a volcano. Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk4 points

I took a walk down to the creek to get some shots of some wild flowers today. Hiking along when a momma wood duck and her kids went scurrying across the water. The babies made it safe to the creek bank and hid underneath. Momma however put on the "lame duck act" and began splashing around trying to lure me downstream with her. Out of nowhere from behind me this hawk came ripping past my head and nailed her right in the deepest section of the pool! I had my short lens on so I had to make a quick change before I could do anything. I could hear all kinds of splashing going on but now I couldn't see over a mound of creek rocks. When I finally got situated and peaked over the rise, I saw momma duck swim under the creek bank on the other side and this hawk swimming for the other shore! Momma took a solid hit and there were feathers floating everywhere. She curled up in a hole and didn't come back out while I was there. Not sure if she made it or not. Mr. Hawk didn't stick around long once he dried out from his high speed plunge! Very cool to see such an attack so close!3 points

Watch Saturn Shine on Friday, No Equipment Required Astronomically speaking, Mars and Mercury dominated May. But now that it’s June, Saturn has a chance to shine. Our solar system’s “Lord of the Rings” will be at opposition starting the early morning hours of Friday, meaning it will align with Earth and the sun. This arrangement will provide amateur astronomers with one of their best opportunities this year to see the butterscotch beauty with the naked eye. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/03/science/saturn-opposition-rings-titan.html?_r=02 points

Except for one model camera , I have had the best luck with Moultrie Game Cameras . I have three Moultrie I35 GameSpy cams . one has been out for 5years and still takes excellent pictures . Phade told us about the MOUltrie TRACE Premise cams and I now own 4 of those . I was able to buy them for $40 each . Great buy for the price . I did own a couple of Primos mini cams and neither of those worked very long and are in the junk pile . I had 3 Primos Truth cams and 2 of those are now trash . So , in my opinion , the Moultries are the best for low cost & efficiency but no doubt Phade will probably feel the Covert Black Flash are the best .2 points

Great shots and good ID alloutdoors. Hopefully that young bird will get a little smarter as it gets older. Sometimes hawks impact with balled feet, punching instead of impaling, in order to stun. In a situation like this - on the water - it would seem the safer course of action. Impaling the duck might have resulted in the hawk going under with the duck.2 points

It's been posted before.... NYS Senate Bill S4727B increases the fines for illegally taking (poaching) deer. it's passed through committee and passed unanimously 97-0 through the Assembly and passed through the environmental conservation committee in the senate. It's possibly a couple days from a floor vote by the senate to be fully passed. it only needs to be scheduled for a floor vote, in which it will surely pass by a land slide. it just has to be scheduled. the man that has to allow and schedule it for a floor vote is..... Senator John J. Flanagan 518-455-2071 [email protected] feel free to copy his legislative aid - [email protected] this is really close to getting passed and will give poachers much more reason for worry and reconsider doing it in the first place. take a minute to get ahold of them and let them know you support it. FYI - you support this or you're the poacher!1 point

Headed to the local Firemens Field Days tonight to help support the fire district and lions club. Beer and clams, chicken bbq, kielbasa and kraut, pizza, burgers, dogs, the list goes on and on. Not sure what I'm going to have but a few cold Genny redeye drafts are in my very near future. Just waiting for daughter to get home from her class trip to Dorney Park and then we are walking down. Plus it's hot out so summer clothing season is here and I need eye candy to oggle. Pygmy, you wanna join me?1 point

Why do you keep saying it's the future like it's a good thing? If you could go back in time to 1950 and show people the America of 2015 telling them it's the future and they should accept it, I think you would find they would start doing a lot of things to prevent it from happening.1 point

If that is the case, just let me know! I'm fine with canceling the postal money order and sending another. But as of today I've had no response as to if it was received or not. No response at all. Perhaps it's just a case of the person being extremely busy. I can understand that. So for now, I'm just on hold I guess.1 point

I think I may have finally caught up with the gobbler that I've been chasing for the past couple of weeks. My wife nearly killed him yesterday morning but he slipped through our fingers. Had him going this morning til 7:00 but neither I nor the real hens could lure him down the hillside. Eventually, he just shut up and I figured he had crossed the road above us. I left and drove around to check out another area and on the way back through where I had worked the bird earlier that morning, I spotted two longbeards fanned out in a corner of field circling each other and getting ready to fight!!! I hurried to get into position to intercept them further up the field. I got to the field not knowing exactly how far from them I was and was contemplating my next move when a full fan suddenly came into view at 35yds!!! I didn't even have time to sit...I raised the gun...he was facing away...I got him to raise life his head out of strut and delivered a load of Longbeard XR's to his face. Game over at 8:50. The other gobbler and 4-5 hens stood there and watched as I ran out to retrieve him. Not bad for the subordinate bird...almost 22lb, 10.5" beard and 1 1/4" hooks. One of the two was the "youth season" gobbler I had been after. The other one will have to wait until next year. This is the latest in season that I've ever punched a tag but it was worth the wait!!! It's been a rough season plagued by close calls and a miss early on. I've only really hunted two spots but was within striking distance of gobblers nearly every morning but just couldn't seal the deal. He lost a few tail feathers during the retrieval process. I also got a nice gash on my finger from grabbing his legs... This one's for you Reeltime...limbhanger!!!1 point
