  2. I thought a post of views from the stand would be nice. Most are now trimming lanes and checking stands so it's a good time to take some pics to let us see what you do. I rarely take pics while hunting ...I try not moving much ...though in the blinds it's easier. So before or during hunting take a pic or two and take us on stand with you,as it were. I'll start with and old pic.

  5. 3D league is on Tuesday evenings. Hunting setups. Yardages vary out past 50 yards at times. No range finders allowed. This was first arrow today/this evening. 30 yards I figure. This was first arrow for second group of targets up the hill. Figured the ram to be somewhere between 35 and 40 but closer to 35 (two of my pins evenly split) than 40. Making up a week so moving to a different stake at times but shooting two arrows at each target. Exactly four arrows in....

  9. Showed back up again, this year with even more mass than before it seems, as well as some "junk".. i have history with this deer back to 2013, that I'm aware of. This fall he is 6.5yr or older. in 2013 he is at least a 3.5yr old.. Still have a few cards to pull. hopefully the other 2 old guys are on them..

  12. Grampy was so generous in sending my son, who is addicted to bass fishing, a HUGE assortment of his best bass lures/rigs. It was a complete surprise for my son and he was almost speechless. What a great gift from a great guy/fisherman. I hear my son now commenting on all the great tackle. Thanks so much Dave. I have never seen my son more excited. I know you will be blessed in kind. You were way too generous! He is planning to go out and put that tackle to use tonight It's so great to see a man like Grampy with such a big heart share his passion with my son. And tips from a pro like you is over the top. You made a big impression on Joel (and me)!

  18. Great rifle stand in the southern tier. Deer usually make there way up this side of the hill in the early morning hours working their way back to bedding....took a few deer from this stand the last couple years and was lucky enough to double on a buck and doe opening morning 2015. Made a 115-120 yard shot on the buck directly down this view from and elevated platform I rebuilt named Stair Way to Heaven by the camp owner. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

  20. I probably shouldn't have mentioned that spot of state land. Never thought about the number of people who would read it and flood it out with pressure. As for no arguing, don't jinx it people! LOL. I can't express my appreciation for the help and kindness of people on this thread and many of the people on this site. I have learned a few things by being a member here.

  24. Thanks I just came in from discing that entire lane way...now I am going down to finish opening the parallel shooting lane in the top picture in the woods. They walk through and stop...because I put low brush piles the entire length...that hesitation before jumping into plot is just enough time for a good shot...I also need to open up the trees to a few oaks on the edge of that and so more sun gets to it. I then will (from top pic) plant turnips to about end of where that ladder is,130yrds. From there to (second picture) I will plant 150 yrds of Wht Institutes chicory plus...from there to the corn out front will be WW and turnips. I do need to run...after last year I know I need to open up the woods behind that blind...It's where I shot an 8pt in gun and I got lucky in that he did run through the only opening I had in the woods...It's a bit tight in there as you can see in the picture... TF that reminds me of the upper woods at camp...nice spot...

  26. Thanks everyone, but I really don't deserve any fuss. Joel called me last night! What an awesome young man, (must take after his dad). You see, in the past I have been on the receiving end, of acts of kindness and generosity from members on this forum,(you guy's know who you are). I'm just paying forward in a small way, to a wonderful young man, who I'm sure will carry on with that. And who doesn't like to see kids hunting and fishing? We need to encourage them all we can. They are the future of this outdoors life that we love so much. Look at the picture from above. Our future is in good hands.

  27. I know that many of you , like Growie, make your own pickles, but how about store bought pickles available to all of us? Having said that, my VERY favorite dill pickles are BICK's Garlic Whole Dills, made by Smuckers of Canada. I cannot find a source here in the US, so I stock up when I go up to hunt gobblers every spring. They are a fairly big pickle, very crunchy and delisheous. Garlicky and not too vinegary. My current favorite that is locally available is Claussen Whole Dills...They are SUPER crunchy, although I'd like to see them back off on the allspice a little. They are kept refrigerated at all times, so you'll find them in the meat case, or the produce area, or perhaps the dairy case.

  30. I hate hunting blinds. Feel so trapped by them with very limited visibility. It would have to be raining to get me in one. The harnesses aren't bad Biz. Buy a pair of the spiderweb bibs. Very comfortable and the harness is built it. Piece of cake. BTW - get those blinds in early so the deer are accustomed to them. Tough to set a blind and hunt it immediately with success.

  33. I've run them in the summer as long as its was not too hot and only in the morning but I think its more me not being able to handle the bugs and the heat. If I do I usually don't run them for more than an hour and as long as it is cool. I mainly run them to get them into shape as they tend to get a little plump and need to build up their endurance prior to opening day.

  34. I agree both forms of tuning work and I use them both. But for a newbie on his own, I think walk back tuning is the better option. Paper tuning requires more knowledge of tuning and works better when you already have solid and consistent form. JMO.

  36. Speaking of PR though....was up there for a ride around tonight. Picked up my new old truck lol. I traded this truck in 3 years ago and just bought it back again lol. Timing was right and I really liked this truck. Once I saw it I knew I had to have it again. Just picked it up after work today. Had to go get a little mud on the tires and look for deer. They are doing some logging up in PR. Lots of deer out and about tonight too! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  38. Ya know....I thought about that this morning lol. Rob should probably save those pics of the maps I posted and I can edit my post and delete them. But even if that did happen. I still have about 10 other spots up my sleeve that I'll give anyone wanting help. That place is big and it's tough to hunt and scout by yourself. I've gathered my Intel over the last 2 falls with a buddy of mine but it took us awhile. I've had a lot of cameras around that place too....luckily I've never had one stolen. I did have a hunter on my one camera but thankfully he was a good guy and just waved and kept on hiking. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  41. Stuffed zucchini is also a wonderful option. Need big ones. Cut in half, spoon out seeds set opening up and stuff with favorite fillings. I like a mixture of hot Italian sausage, bread crumbs, egg, parm cheese some diced bell peppers.

  43. My wife made some zucchini pizza . She sliced the zucchini thin , put tomato sauce on top with a slice of pepperoni and a small square of cheese on top . Then put it in the oven for a short while . Was pretty good but the zucchini could have been baked longer .
