  1. Love getting Strutting pictures.. Hoping to get some gobbling shots. Also trying to find out where they are roosting now, and what their morning travel patterns are... They clear cut a wood lot and a side hill where they used to roost and spend a lot of time.. But I have 2 new "logging roads", I can probably use to my advantage this spring.. Connects 2 new clover food plots, and several other fields

  7. Jumping back in to this thread because my conscience is really bothering me. I've been hiding this for quite some time and after reading all of this, I think it's finally time to relieve myself of this burden and get this off my chest. It's very hard for me to admit this, but here goes; So last winter I was ice fishing on Irondequoit Bay up in Rochester (my old stomping grounds). I had a few tip-ups set for northerns, and was in my clam jigging for perch. Had a good day for the perch, and caught one 35" northern. All seemed well, but when I got home I realized to my horror what I had done. I had miscounted my perch and discovered I had 51 in my bucket -51! I was starting to feel the heat rising up my neck as the shame set in. I came to the awful realization that I was now a poacher as there was no way else I could be considered anything but. It was true, I poached that 51st perch. I could have recounted and stopped at 50, but I didn't. I completely disregarded the game laws and said screw it. I shamefully yanked that defenseless and innocent perch through the hole and threw it in my bucket. I didn't even show it any mercy by killing it, I just let it gasp it's final breath in the bucket as I casually and selfishly thought of only myself and my dinner that night. Now, before anyone posts a aerial photo of my house, I'll do it myself. Once I realized I was nothing more than a lowlife poacher of perches, I called the DEC on myself. They actually blew it off! Told me thanks, but don't worry about it. I just couldn't live with that outcome as I was now only a lousy poacher with no other obvious redeeming qualities. I won't be moving in until tomorrow night, but here's my new place. Let me know if I should add GPS coordinates. There, I feel better.

  11. Did homemade chicken noddle soup tonight with leftover chicken. Had onions, celery ,stewed tomatoes, canned tomatoes, salt, pepper, chicken bouillon, bay leaves, and parsley. Still have four quarts left! Sure it'll go fast tho. Great soup weather up here windy and scattered snow flurries and chilly.

  12. I joined sometime in 2012 when I was a regular member of Bowhunting.com forum. Once I found out about this site, I quickly came here and made an account. I was casual here and I tended to focus on Bowhunting.com, but now I rarely go on that site and Im on here all the time. Ive met only a few members on here but all were great people that I enjoy talking to and there are some members that Id love to finally meet like Grampy and The Real TCIII. I think in general this forum is a wonderful place to learn about hunting and just talk crap with people. Where I live, isn't what you'd consider a hot bed for hunters, so I really don't have all too many people to talk hunting with other than some friends and some family members who mostly bird hunt in Europe or rifle hunt. This is usually the place I come to, to get answers to my hunting questions or even share my experiences in the woods with people who will appreciate it like I did. I was never part of the last board, but im so glad that this forum is around and healthy. Hats off to all the members who make this forum what it is and hopefully it continues!

  15. Careful Grampy all REAL NY Hunters can only be judged by antlers. The rest of us just haven’t been self actualized enough to know it yet. I enjoy the harmless banter(as evidence from my above shot across the bow at FSW!!!) since real life (which this place is not) seems way too serious. I’m here since 2010 as well and am quite embarrassed to admit that I haven’t left yet. I guess I’m still here because I have learned some stuff, laughed a bunch and been helped in some real ways by some solid people. Hoping Biz will let me stow away in his carry on when the Goat opens up for a get together! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  37. Im mostly on here and AT. I joined AT in 2003 to get some advice ahead of my first bear hunt. Im also on bowsite but not much because the format is archaic. I also joined a pool maintenance forum and thats been a great source of advice. Same with lake ontario united and Iceshanty. You want entertainment, go on duckhunting chat or therefuge forum and ask a simple question about locating ducks lol. The first 15 replies will be BURN SOME GAS A$$HOLE!!!!!!!!

  41. So that’s what they look like. Side story - I recall my first time hunting turkey with Phade and we were sitting 40yds apart and a hen walked by me at 5yds. I look over at Phade and he is frantically waiving me off thinking I was going to shoot it. Lol. Also had a big Tom at 70yds through the marsh (looked like an ostrich to me) but we couldn’t call him in. About the most action I ever had and it was hunt no 1 for me. At that point I figured turkey hunting would be easy. 4 years later and I realize boy was I wrong.

  49. I'm on one other forum, a guitar/music site. Been here since Oct. of 14. Was a lurker awhile, before joining in. I came on board because I saw that there were some very good hunters and outdoors people here. They were willing to share their experience and knowledge, and have a little fun too! Thought perhaps, I could share what little I know, as well as learn a bunch, from like minded people. And I have. I've met a bunch of guy's from here, face to face. Shook their hand, shared a smile and a story. Every one of them were stand up people! Hunted and shared woods time with a few more. Made some memories that will outlast me! Good times! And I look forward to our next get togethers. Got a few that are on my "must meet" list too. You know who ya are. Also, I've bumped heads with a couple of butt heads here every now and then. Fair trade, for all the good I've taken away from here though. As long as you can let some comments roll off, and not take everything personal, your enjoyment on 'ANY' forum will be enhanced. Keep in mind, we come to a forum, to hear a different point of view. To enlighten ourselves, perhaps learn a thing or two, and a good belly laugh now and then! But we are all different! We won't always agree! It saddens me when we lose long time members, because of personal attacks. There really is no need to do this! If ya disagree with someone, or the content of a post, go ahead and post YOUR opinion. But because others may disagree with what YOU post, remember that's all part of a forum! Ya don't need to shoot back with personal jabs. There are much more intelligent ways to get your point across!!!! Stooping to someone else's level, is not always the best representation of YOURSELF! This site is strong. With a great membership! Let's all work together, to keep it that way. Just my opinion folks.............
