  1. Picked up my 2017 buck this week from S&S in Springville and could not be happier with the results! Those guys do great work! Just thought I would share, it is my biggest buck to date with a 24” spread. . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  2. I don't recall if I posted this last year but with my newfound discovery in the ease of uploading to youtube, here it is. This is the buck I killed about a minute and a half after the video ends, IIRC. He was in eyesight about 20 seconds before this clip started. He wanted to go to the east but my grunt call turned him and he came in.

  4. What a joy doing work at the property this morning. Cleared trails and started some stand work. No long walks, no hauling in chainsaw and other equipment. Drive right up, clear or jump in stand and move on. Got more work done in 2hrs than I often would in 4 or more and I don’t feel it a bit. Good investment based on first work day using her. Took ADK suggestion and grabbed a polar utility cart to tow behind so that I can haul whatever is needed. Great combo.

  17. Pic 1 is 4 bucks! In other pics I can see the back two are small bucks but this is the best pic with all four together. Pretty cool! Pic 2 is a coyote Pic 3 and 4 is the Giant 7. He’s a monster for July 13th! That was this morning!!! Pic 5 is LAST YEAR of the giant 7. Same exact rack with 2 brows but now he’s bigger. We never had pics of him again last year but clearly he survived! For Putnam County, I’m pretty pumped about these bucks. This is year 3 for us on this land and we have only killed 2.5’s and so does the only neighbor so each year we have seen better bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. I figured I would Start a thread to document my work putting in a couple of food plots on the land we bought this spring. This morning we got started cutting a trail to get the tractor back to the plot areas. A few weeks ago I went through and marked some trees to cut to put in the trail, but once we started cutting today, I didnt Like how the ground sloped in some of the areas. There is an old trail on the property line, so Haley and I walked It and found the old enterance. It had been choked by some bushes, but I decided It would be easiest to just open it back up. I pushed Out all of the brush with the front end loader and back blade. We were able to get to both of the plots within a couple of hours by just pushing brush and falldowns out of the way. We also cleared out the few bushes from the plot areas. This afternoon I have To go pick up a brush hog, and then I’ll go through and get everything mowed out this evening. The soil back there still has some moisture in it, so I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to get a plow in the ground next weekend.

  25. Thanks moog and others..... I know I posted the story about that buck last fall but he was heading north and then turned to the east. I was further north and just a touch west so I grunted (with that Vector call) and he stopped. He looked my way then kept going.....I grunted again and he turned my way! He came in and actually fed on something right in front of me for a moment. His head and body were behind some brush and there was no shot. After what seemed like a week he started to walk into an opening. I made a burp to stop him (I'm quite an expert at the "burp" noise) and it worked. While the shot was perfect, I had very little blood for the first 150 yards or so. It was getting to be dusk and I was doubting my shot, thinking it may have been a bit high. I stopped and contemplated waiting a couple hours or even till morning (I hate leaving them all night) when all of a sudden I hear snorting coming from his direction of travel. Sunnoffabitch...... I turned and went back to my buddies and left him all night. 1st thing next morning I find him not 30-40 yards from where I stopped the night before with a almost perfect shot. It was a touch high and his lungs took some time to fill up. If I'd have gone 15 FEET more, I'd have spotted a blood trail of gruesome proportions. I don't regret pulling out that night; decisions decisions!

  36. Yeah I’ll get some pics later when I get The brush hog in there. Ive always had fun doing plots over at the farm, but this is completely different with it being my own place. I dont Have to worry about what other people want to do, or what the landowner wants or doesn’t want done. It’s really nice having it be all mine and to be able to do things exactly how I want To.

  42. Checked 2 of the 3 cams today. Very overgrown so couldn’t get to the third in shorts. Kicked up a big deer on way in but couldn’t see Head. Kicked up a fawn on way out. Throw & grow again is working. Tons of does/fawns and small bucks. I tried to send the best pics. Pic 1 is a nice buck for early June Pic 2 is Doe & fawn Pic 3 is a small buck with the doe & fawn Pic 4 is a bobcat! Pic 5 is a small buck Pic 6 is the 8 pointer we have seen now 3 years so he’s 4.5. He has the same shorter 3rd tine of left side, 3 years in a row. Pic 7 is a very wide 6pt, maybe he’ll make it to 8pts? Pic 8 is a giant 7pt. Have better pics of him on other camera and I also have 1 pic from him last summer I’ll send separate email. Not the wide 7 with 1 brow from last year. This is a big 7 with both brows like last year but bigger. Will do separate post with other pics. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  47. Myself I try to go both routes. When you breed a pretty, clean say 6 by 6 into a doe that had a whole pedigree of clean bucks you will get a nice clean pretty buck 9 of 10 times. They sell like crazy and are the most sought after but bring you the least pay. Most of the industry is a pay by the score kinda thing. The breeding market is a bit different. I myself breed more non typical bucks into my cleaner does. Those big knarly, Ugly some would say have proven they have the ability to produce massive blood flow, that after all is what makes antlers. More blood flow the bigger the antlers. Believe it or not, a guy raises deer in an open hayfield with a building for shelter will grow bigger deer then a guy with the perfect deer woodlot habitat. Sunshine and heat keeps the bucks blood thinner which in turn sends more to the antlers. Strange but true. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  49. Ground Turkey with seasoning, diced raw red pepper, raw diced red onion, cooked black beans, avocado, and a sprinkle of cheddarjack, and franks, sprinkled with fresh lime all in a wheat wrap. Sounds bizarre but it was really good. New healthy meal the girlfriend discovered.
