do not change from the large hole size for alum, it works even better than the med size hole for carbon, less drag on the vanes and less ware on the fletch. I have 4 bows setup with the largee hole size, 2 3D bows setups and two hunting bows. Lots think it crazy to use a WB for 3D, but I keep on coming in at the top 10%^ of the shooters at my age of 71. Love the ease of use of the WB, set it up and forget it, it follows the kiss ? that is keep it simple stupid way of doing things...

at 71 I no longer have to mow, we moved to be closer to the grandkids and my son in law, mows with a big John deer mower and plows the driveway with his ford truck for snow . I use to have 5 full acres to mow and used a rider and a self mower for trim. I got both of them from Walmart and never had a issue. I did need to change on the riding mower a belt and plug and on the self mower walk type I did have the wheels go after 8 years and finally got another one of that type.

I have direct TV for TV and have a total of 5 receivers. Only had a few times when you get a black out due to weather for the little dish. Also have hughes.net dish for high speed internet. Not cheap but better than dialup for the computer. They also make a new high speed dish, but we are staying with the cheaper regular dish.

I would have a fit, and would not let a cross bow be allowed. I do not know for safety sake if a person missed with a cross bow how far a arrow would fly, also would have concern that the cross bow may punh right thru targets or damage the targets. We had a guy with a cross bow join a club in MB and they asked him to just keep it on the practice area and not plan on shooting the 3D's. With him we found he had to move his scope so that he would not ware out the practice target and go right thru. His bow was a PSE crossbow at 165 lbs.

I try to make most of there shoots. they have a great 3D round, good practice area, and they do serve one of the best breakfast around. Some times I go just to have the breakfast and then shoot on the practice area. At 71 the one thing I do not like is there is no way you can just shoot a 1/2 round and get off.

welcome back to snow country.

same as last year Oct 1 for bow in the southern tier..

if the wind is wrong or changes you had better just walk out and go to another stand or take a nap because you will not see anything. Deer number 1 use there nose first and then eyesight to stay safe.

were do you find the lightfield slugs, this seems to be one of the best. I have used for years the Remington, but would try the lightfield brand.

play the wind, if you are a trad bow hunter it is a true must, if you are in a tree stand it also will be a major issue with the deer. I even keep a small piece of dental floss on the string to see if the wind is changing. It sure does help if you want shot that are close.

love to fish the west branch, my Dad took me there many times in the 50's to fish. Now at 71, I still can think back and see him and me walking on the banks, fishing the area right near route 17 were the west branch runs into the beaverkill.

Groups not coming together... Is this why?
sweet old bill replied to josephmrtn's topic in Bow Hunting
If you are in the Oneonta area I would be more than willing to help you get the arrows to fly. send me a note etc. I am a old fart that retired I have time to help etc. I also suggest with alum arrows the biggest problem with them is over time they start to have issue and will fly bad. A carbon shaft is either good or bad. But with all shaft you have to keep checking them as you pull them from the target or a miss. I always check to see if any splinters, if yes, that the of the arrow. Do not have to have a arrow break up as you release it....I also always suggest joining a local archery club, lots of guys willing to help a new hunter archer with tuning and hunting tips etc... -
a WB tip, is get the large hole size and then no ware on your feathers or vanes and a lot less noise or drag. I have WB's on 2 bows and they shoot as well as a drop a way without the tuning issue or as I always say the Kiss issue....keep it simple stupid.. I have the bows setup with slider sights with fiber optic scope on all of them. bow is a bowtect commander 2007 RH, 29 inch inch draw, peak weight 60 lbs for 3D / spots/ and hunting bow is a Hoyt 2007 same setup as above

I love this type of question, as a archery shop owner, till 2 years ago . I retired and now just live the retired life of shooting each day etc. I have to say the best thing is to shoot one brand and all the same length and tip weight. But even my self these days being retired, I have some gold tip, Easton and one other brand that are a mixed bag etc, but they are all the same length, same fletch, and 100 gr field points in them. SO at 5 yards to 25 yards they sure seem to fly the same. But after 30 yards if you weight each arrow I am sure would will start to find some difference in weight of 40 to 100 grains, this much can make a difference in the longer shots. -
I always told the wife I would have to be locked up to quit. I would stop for a week or month and go back. I fell off of just 10 ft, and broke my leg in 9 places, so I was good as under lock and key. It took me a good 5 month till the smell of smoke would smell bad. Now I am clean for over 20 years. I do know even now if I smoked just one I would want them all over again. Now at 71 years young and sure glad I did quit.

sweet old bill replied to DeerStalker22's topic in General Hunting
I have to say my Dad as well. Now at 71 I think back to those years with him and our hunting or fishing trips. He was a great Dad and father I sure miss him over the years pass. We also would go to a hunting camp and sure enjoyed all the guys. -
Early thanks for the beaverkill internet site.

I wish I could but lived near Norwich in North pharsalia off of route 23and always went back to route 17 and fished the beaverkill. still it is rated number 1 in fishing streams, has a great spot near were the delware comes into the beaverkill, lots of pools. there is a guy on this site called noddle and I think he is the guy to talk with.

Let's throw some gas on the fire - MI Report

with Como and maybe no guns allowed, it may come to more support for the cross bow. At 71 and have been shooting a recurve and compound for over 50 years I do see the time when I sure no longer can draw and hold a bow and sure would love to still hunt with a cross bow. I see these type of child games of my deer is better than your deer taken with a gun over a bow, sound like my Dic x is bigger than yours. We all our hunters so lets stay commitment to support all of us that love the sport. -
1 start with a kiss keep it simple stupid. 2 prior to buying anything go to a good pro shop and get measured for what your draw is, start with a bow in the 50 to 60 range if you are a adult male... 3 check out archery talk.com lots of good bows for sale in the 400 range compare to 900 for a new top of the line bow. 4 when buying arrow make sure the spine fits the bow peak weight and, draw length 5 a simple 3 pin sight in .029 fiber optic will meet all your needs. 6 get the bow if purchased used checked out and tuned at a pro shop and or if you have a buddy that can do it for you. 7 as you start to shoot say close in the 10 to 20 yard range, work on your form, as you get better groups of arrows then move back and get your pins signed in at 15, 25, 35 yards 8 have fun , you have started on a life long enjoyment

Is it true that the higest court now has overturned the lower court stopage of implemtation of the como new laws on guns and ammo ???? if so what can now be down ? except vote him and all that voted for theseinvalid changes to the law out of office, I went to Dicks and Bass Pro in MYrtle beach SC to see if I could get some 22 lr, 308 and 303 ammo. not one box period, Dicks says his shipment are put out at 9 am Monday and do not last over 10 minutes, people lined up outside the store just waiting to run to the back and grap something. they then trade between each others in line waiting to pay up front. god what is becoming of us. They force laws in the dark of night with no chance for rebutal by the law abide hunters of the state.
