DEC says Increased number of deer taken and reported in 2018
ApexerER replied to Bigfoot 327's topic in Deer Hunting
I have never seen them there but according to my processor DEC visits him at least a couple times per season. The taxi that did the two heads I have mounted have told me the same thing. -
Wow, that is terrible news. So sorry to hear. We had a benefit for a friend this year. I didn't plan it but it seemed to work very well. It was at a local bar and friends made donations that were raffled off at the benefit. Our donations as a hunting group was obviously hunting themed. We all chipped in and purchased a treestand, trail camera, calls, knife etc and it got raffled as a hunting package. They had all kinds of other things there as well and you purchased raffle tickets and put them in a basket in front of the item that you were interested in trying to win. I was at another benefit for a baseball team at a local bar that did pretty much the same thing with the raffle. I don't know if that helps you but those are the only two benefits I have ever been too and they were both raffles.

The only reason to stay here is family and friends but if the country as a whole keeps going the way its going it isn't going to matter where we live. The Dems used to hide their liberal agenda by saying they are for the middle class, working man etc. Not they just flat out run on a socialist agenda and many win in landslides. It is really scary what is happening to this country. I can't imagine how it is going to be when my 13 year old daughter is my age. Its scary as hell

Are you sure it is the wheel bearing giving you the play and not the ball joints? In my experience you can hear wheel bearings long before they have play in them and the sound of the bearing will change as you load and unload it going around corners.

Not me, I said you bought the thing you make sure you move it....Only problem it caused for me was I was always the one that needed the excuse for why it wasn't moved when my wife forgot and the couple times my wife tried to put it someplace too creative and it fell. My wife would leave for work before my daughter and I were even up....

My daughter is going to be 14 after Christmas but we had one when she was younger. We had the female Elf. Her name was Abigail. It was fun but don't forget to move it. The kids will notice for sure! You will need an excuse ready for when you forget....lol You also supposedly aren't aloud to touch them. Which isn't a problem unless the Elf falls out of the place you left it. According to my daughter it was acceptable to use tongs to move her.

Just because the deer are here today doesn't mean they will be here tomorrow.

I had a very enjoyable season. The land we lease is split in two with a horse farm in the middle that we don't have permission to hunt. We call them the North Farm and the South Farm. I never understood why we called them farms because there was never any farming going on, at least until recently. In 2015 the North Farm had soybeans on it. This was the first time in years of hunting the property that there was an agriculture food source and that lead to my best year for me taking my first deer with the bow...A doe, my first and biggest buck at the time with the bow, a 5 pt and a beautiful 8 pt that is now on my wall on opening day of rifle. They didn't plant anything the next couple seasons so I was excited for the season when they planted several acres of beans and 5 or so acres of corn on the south farm this season. I concentrated my bow season near the food sources (mostly the corn) and saw more deer then I have ever seen in a season. I don't keep a log, I should really start but there was one day that I saw at least 30 doe and 7 different bucks. All the bucks were small, spikes, 3's and forks but I enjoyed seeing them. I passed several small bucks during bow season and I won't shoot a doe that has fawns with her. I ended up taking a large doe with the crossbow that came in by herself one evening. That was my first crossbow deer. I missed a beautiful 8pt from the same stand. A deer we had on camera that we called the wide white horned 8. I just simply blew it with buck fever and shot underneath him. I was thankful for the clean miss when I found the bolt but angry with myself for not controlling my emotions better. I had another encounter with him a few days later, but I needed him to zig and he zagged. As far as I know this deer made it through the season. As soon as rifle opened my deer sightings dropped to almost nothing compared to what I was seeing during bow. After the first week of hunting rifle and not seeing much I moved back to "my stand" that I have shot the majority of my deer out of and took a small 8pt which was my 3rd biggest buck ever. A hunting buddy signed over a DMP cause I didn't get one this year and that allowed me to stay in the woods. We did some pushes later in the season and the guys killed a couple doe and a nice 6pt. This is the first year I can remember that nobody shot a wall hanger. Several were seen during bow season but nobody could connect then once rifle started it seemed like the deer went into hiding immediately. It wasn't a good season for us as a group as far as deer taken. Overall I had a really great season, had a great time with the guys, took a couple nice deer and saw more deer in the season than I ever have. Can't wait until next year.....

Trump bans bump stocks

Agreed, none of these bans are going to stop wacko's from being wacko's.... -
If you are looking for a review on the closet itself I can't help you but I have the scent crusher tote and it works very well. I use it on things other than my hunting gear like my daughters soccer cleats and soccer bag as well. The ozone definitely eliminates scent but it sure smells like ozone. The generator also detaches and I have put it in my truck as well. I am sure the closet would work as well....

End of season blues - a gear washing question
ApexerER replied to sad_story's topic in General Hunting
I honestly don't know if it works or not but I wash a couple of loads of regular wash with scent killer detergent and then wash my hunting gear. -
Hope everything works out ok when its finally done...wishing you the best,

Not live but I thought my hunting season was over. Got a call from the guys to meet at DD Sunday morning they had a muzzle loader I could use. I have never even fired a muzzle loader. We did some small pushes and moved some deer. One of they guys missed a doe. I saw 3 while pushing, nothing while sitting. We were soaked through and cold by 1 pm so we called it. I shot the muzzle loader since I had never fired one before. It was pretty cool. Its a good thing I never got a shot at a deer though because I completely missed a 15"x15" target at 75 yds. They guys were making fun of me so I loaded it up again and missed again. I am blaming the gun not being mine. Might have to get a muzzle loader for next year and get it sighted in for me. One guy stayed behind and wound up shooting a big doe on spot and stalk in the freezing rain. So ends my 2018 season....- 10374 replies

Hold my beer, watch this!!! I would say I am about 20% redneck. Haven't yet confirmed that on ancestry.com. I live in a very small house but it is in the middle of a neighborhood unfortunately. I do have more than one riding lawn mower parked in my back yard if that counts. I love the woods and being outside. I for sure would get along better with any redneck over most people.

I am no expert but it sure looks the same to me. Glad he was caught, I have no idea what the penalty is for something like that but I am sure it isn't stiff enough. Before reading this forum and watching shows like north woods law I thought poaching was few and far between. Maybe because I live in a neighborhood and travel to my hunting spot so I never hear those late night shots etc. It is obviously occurs a lot more frequently then I ever thought. Its really disgusting!
