    Shrimp

Hi......my name is grampy. I'm a shrimpoholic. And seafood addict. I'm going to Maine in a couple weeks to score big.
  2. I hope he's rotting in hell.
  3. Nice mount! Looks great up there!
  4. Congratulations Jay! Way to go my friend! Sounds like an exciting hunt this morning for you! You sent it!!!! Details on the gobbler please.
  5. If you look closely to the right of the cougar, hiding in the brush of the hedgerow, is a Sasquatch. Plain as day! Can't you all see it???
  6. I haven't been qualified to be a virgin camper since the summer of 73.
  7. Got a bird feeder out for most of the year, with the usual birds, squirrels, chipmunks, and mice visiting. The hawks and and owls use it as a buffet table.
  8. Pretty cool! I'm always looking at the weather for one reason or another. My window thermometer STB and blew off a couple wind storms back. This will be a nice replacement. For $45 think I'll stop by the local TS and pick one up for myself. Thanks Eddie.
  9. I've been know to do so. Yes. Especially if good barbeque is involved!
  10. My area is in a 1 to 3 range. Makes sense, as a three year old buck here is usually just over 100 inches. But now and then we may get one bigger. I'm very fortunate to have the acres we have to hunt. And have hunted here since I was a kid. So it's home. Makes a big buck that much more special here.
  11. Oh man, that's awesome!!! You are going to have lots of fun with that beauty. Brian is definitely the go to trad guy! He's not too shabby when it comes to compounds either. Keep us posted on your progress. Good luck!
  12. Not scheduling any paying gigs this summer. Way too much going on. And does anyone really want to listen to a 62 year old guy play and sing??? Likely not too much anymore I suppose. I did have my time though!!! For many years. But I'm still willing to travel the campfire circuit!!! A beer or two, will get you an old guy playing old songs, and a laugh or two.
  13. Awesome work as always Matt!! I think, right before I retire, I will be a middle man for you carvings!!! Will come with a big truck. Pay you your asking price....and a little more. Then take em all downstate, and sell em for three times what I paid!!!! In no time, I will have the money for that hundred acre spread in NC!!!! Will be sure to have a guest house waiting for you too, anytime you come on down for a visit! With multiple saws and logs, just outside the door.......of course.
  14. Hunting in Mendon, it should be required by law!!!! ......lol I carried a few home from there in the plastic bag my camo was in. There does seem to be an 'uptick'.....(see what I did there) in ticks this year, everywhere I've been in the woods this spring. Use the Sawyers boys and girls!!!! It really does help to keep the crawly bastids off you!!! Nothing is 100% though. So a shower and thorough check is always a good idea after leaving the woods. Lyme is no joke. Protect yourselves.
  15. This time, SE coast with my Mrs. This fall, up near Greenville with my hunting buddy for deer/bear.
  16. Thanks for the kind words fella's. But all the thanks I needed was in the smiles and fist bumps from our newest hunters. I highly encourage anyone with a few years experience behind them, to become an instructor or mentor. We need more, as the need is definitely there to bring new blood into hunting, and shooting. They are the ones who will carry the flag into the future for us. The giving back to our hunting future, will be rewarded in so many ways. There is a bunch of hoops to jump through, to become an instructor these days, but well worth it in satisfaction gained, by sharing what you love with others.
  17. Plenty of time to pick up a new firearm for a hunt six months away. 7mm-08 or 270 would be perfect for lopes IMO. I have handled a couple Bergara's while at my local gun shop, and found them to be very nice looking and comfortable, though I've never shot one. But I do have a Sako 85 Classic in 270 that would fit the bill for a hunt like you are going on. Walnut and blued steel, that shoots better than I am capable of. Smooth as churned butter. And as pretty as a beagle pup!
  18. I'm good without it. Never had it, so don't know what I'm missing. I listen to CD's and classic rock and country on the local stations. When traveling, I'll just hit the search button on the radio, till something comes up I like. My grandson is going to show me how to take songs from my phone, and play them in the new car that has Bluetooth?
  19. Happy Birthday! Hoping all the best comes your way today! Cheers to you sir!............. I'll be up to Maine in a couple weeks. I'll let em know your coming!!!
  20. Most likely we would take them, if the homework was completed? But I'd have to check with our senior instructor, on that to make sure we weren't violating any DEC rules. He is more knowledgeable on that end of it than I. We had planned for a class of 33, but one was a no show, and three canceled too late for us to repost the openings, on the DEC website. Especially if I knew YOU were coming, even late, we could maybe get you in, due to always having some no shows. It is too bad with the ones who don't show up, because we are posted as full, and that turns away ones who "would" or "could" be there. So again, if I'm not breaking any DEC rules, I'd do all I could to help get your boys a seat. Even at the last minute.
  21. We added 29 new hunters to our ranks today, from our NYS Hunter Education Course! About half kids, and the other half was split between adult women and men. A cold blustery day out there for the field exercises, but all passed with good scores! A great class. They asked lots of questions, even during break times. I arrived at 7am, for set up, and sign in, and left at 5:20pm, after clean up. Was also there last night after work for an hour or so. But the high fives and smiling faces, after handing out their certificates, was so much worth any time spent. This giving back to something, I've loved my whole life, is one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. After today, there are 29 more hunters out there that I'd be proud to share the woods with.
