I see they will open a store in Woodbury. Like there isn't enough traffic down that way…lol. I guess it will be cool, never been to Cabelas looking forward to it…..and the traffic!

I'm glad we're getting one closer to home as it's only about an hour drive from me.  I wish hey would have put it in a different area though.

That store needs to be in an area where it is the only store there.  One of the problems with it being in the Commons is that you'll never get in there come the Christmas shopping season!!

I've been to the one in PA a number of times and it's a great place to visit.  I can imagine the traffic to the new one in Woodbury will be a nightmare, so I'll probably continue to mail order instead.  You get the stuff in a couple of days, so why would fight the ridiculous traffic, plus they don't always have what's in the catalogs in the stores.

There will be a downside to having Cabelas doing business in NYS also.  Unless they strike some sort of deal with the state, now we will be charged sales tax on mail orders, since Cabelas has an established business within the state.  Not looking forward to that.

Holy crap. Nice on the way to the cabin.  99% of the time I avoid that area, but maybe I wont now if there is a reason to stop.

From the Press Release:

http://www.cabelas.com/custserv/custserv.jsp?pageName=woodbury

90,000-square-foot store

The building's exterior will reflect Cabela's popular store model with log construction, stonework, wood siding and metal roofing. A large glass storefront will allow customers to view much of the store's interior as they approach the building.

The interior will be built in Cabela's next-generation layout, designed to surround customers in an outdoor-like experience. It will include a large mountain replica, wildlife displays, indoor archery range and archery tech room, deli, Gun Library, Bargain Cave and Fudge Shop.

That's great news for me.  I was bummed that I'd be losing tax free internet purchases because of the store in Western NY, but not have access to the actual store.  I guess if I'm losing the tax-free anyway, this place will be about 20 minutes closer than Hamburg, PA.

Hey Kool-Aid, Oh Yeah

Two Cabelas store in New York. Can it be really happening?

Yup!  and by the time they're here if this election doesn't go well all you'll find is pellet guns, muzzleloaders, and expensive taxed ammo.

Great, now I have to pay sales tax everytime I order something online.

That ship sailed the moment the announced the one in W NY.  At least with one in Woodbury, you'll actually be able to visit the store.

I wonder where exactly they are going to put it. There is not much land near the commons that is accessible without crossing the RR or 87. Maybe it wont be right with the outlets, might have to move it south towards Harriman or west down 17 a bit. Also how they are going to change the traffic patterns will be interesting, especially since they are trying to get a casino approved to build right in Harriman too.

Gonna be south of the commons on the other side of route 32. There is an old slum hotel behind the Gulf station across from the Kohls-Staples plaza. They are leveling the hotel and building there.
