Hey guys I was wondering who was going out for a hunt today based on the weather.  So far on long island there is no rain I kinda wish I went out.  Supposed to clear up later on maybe ill jump in the woods for an evening hunt.  If you are heading out to face the storm my hats off to you GO GET SOME!

Also whats the deal with the rain? Do deer move around a lot when it rains?  Is this a better time to hunt? Lets hear your opinions!

Going to rain by noon with thunderstorms. Clearing later in the afternoon. Deer move in the rain. The tend to be a bit on high alert all the time though. Rain with little wind, I would be out there. Just make sure you can handle it. You won't hear them coming in and you must dress accordingly. Two years ago we were going to do a all day hunt on Sunday and leave after dark to come home. It was raining by 10 am and I gave the boys the option stay or go? We left by 1:00. We turn the corner at the end of my road, still raining pretty good but no wind, and out in a cut corn field happy as a clam was a nice 2.5 year old buck. Go figure.

yea I have been on a few and they can get pretty miserable pretty fast.  I have stuck it out a few times I just recently hosed my cammies down with permethryn and i don't want to take a chance of that bleeding out on my skin.  I think ill just go tomorrow.

If it was the rut I would have done the morning but not now.  I think hunting in a good rain just puts the probability too high of loosing a deer.  I have shot  deer and double lunged them with a pass through and just had a so so trail with rain it would have been impossible.

Watching radar since 4 a.m.....going out at 10 till dark. Temps dropped 7 degrees since 4 and still dropping...To early to be soaked and miserable. The cams tell me I should get a shot between 11 and 4. We will see the wind is perfect for where I plan to go..Now let's see if Gator will disturb them.I'll park 100 yrds. away and put the camo cover on and walk in.

Just had 20 turkey walk past the kitchen window in farmers feild...Hope that Round up won't harm them...

Passed on an am hunt due to the forecast . Heading for Geneseo in about an hour . Rain forecasted a 1 pm and then again at 4 pm . I hope that Pod Blind doesn't leak . I wanted sooooo bad to go to South Bristol tomorrow but I have a Great Grandson being Baptized and if I went hunting I would never hear the end of it .

I asked  my grand daughter , " who the heck has a baby baptized during hunting season" ? She didn't like that .

On the Island, they are saying up to 3/4 inch of rain.  90% chance all afternoon long.  During the gun season, I would most certainly be out still hunting in this.  But with a bow, especially with a whole season in front of us, I don;t see it as too wise to be hunting in this.  My plan is to run out later, hopefully in a downpour, and select a tree (and maybe trim a little) for a climber for my buddy for us to hunt tomorrow.

First sit will be this afternoon, hope to hit the stand at 5:00 . Deer have moved through today's spot about 3/4s of the afternoons of bow for the last 25 years. First bow kill there in '88.

In fact I've used the same tree many times since '88. Today's is 30 yards over in a triple tree.

Stayed in this morning, lots of wind and rain. Supposed get lake effect rain tonight and flood watch for northern Erie County. Good weather for the ducks, but I like it a bit drier. Maybe drive to southern tier in morning give it a try.

Today is the first chance ive had to get out this season, decided to hold off and do a pm hunt. But doesnt look like the rain will give me a chance today. Tomorrows supposed to be good though, 38ish at sun rise and high of mid 50's all day

Grow. you need one of these, post-3229-0-14412100-1412441255_thumb.pn

Use the new toy as much as you can, They will get use to the sight and sound of it. I had a doe walk up 10 yards from me opening morning, a tree in the way prevented a clear shot, I rode up 15 min. before that on my ATV which was parked 10 feet from my blind, Did not bother her at all. Later on I went to pull a card out of the cam which was 75 yards away and the time stamp shows that She and her 2 fawns were feeding there before she walked to where I was.

Hey Everyone! This is Louis Backlas/ Cross Over the River Outdoors. I just posted a new video to my YouTube channel that I though ya'll might get a kick out of! Have you ever used a decoy to hunt whitetails? If you haven't before you might want to start! I woke up one morning and look out my front window only  to find that my 3D deer target was in pieces all over the front lawn! A fired up buck decided to take his frustrations out on the target!  this took place sometime in November during the peek of the rut. Hope ya'll get a kick out of it!

Just wanted to post a video of one of my successful bow hunts this year. Something about documenting your hunt and self filming adds even more of a rewarding feeling to a bow harvest when it all comes together. *Disclaimer*  I don't think I'm a "pro" nor am I trying to be just love filming and tinkering around with the editing. The audio on the video from my second doe harvest is much better than this one, I figured out a few tricks with the editing software recently and I'll have that one done by the weekend. You can skip through the talking parts if you want the shot happens around the 3:20 mark.
