Leaf Blower Recommendation

Recommended Posts

What do you guys recommend? As opposed to renting one for the day from Home Depot, I'm thinking of just buying one to help clear leaves for a potential small food plot (100yards by 50 yards). In addition, I'll use it in the fall at home (1/2 acre) to help with leaf cleanup instead of doing it all by hand rake.

This one appears to have really good reviews and doesn't break the bank:

My old leaf blower  bit the dust this spring, It was a Homelite  something or other,. Lasted a good 8 years or so. I just bought a Husqvarna back in early June. I forget the model, but it was only a little over $200. I want to say $229.99.  It works well. Stick with the name brands and use stabilizer in the gas. It will last you a while. Don't buy Roybe …They suck….

I go with Stihl all the way. I bought this one probably about 7-8 years ago and haven't had to do a thing to it.

http://www.stihlusa.com/products/blowers-and-shredder-vacs/homeowner-blowers/bg50/  I think you can get it for around $140

I've got a 20 yr old Stihl chain saw that gets heavy use. Also haven't done a thing to it.

They just work. All the time.

i agree with others.  going cheap will waste your money.  it won't work good enough to justify its continued use.  Echo's are great.  Talk to a dealer.  lower end ones tend to not do much when it comes to wet leaves outdoors.

I'll second the Stihl recommendation. I don't own a blower, but the saws and string trimmer have been hassle-free for years.

Tip: Use quality oil for the premix, and fresh ethanol-free gas.

Treat a Stihl tool right and you'll never have to buy another one.

Just my two cents.

I have one of them for 4 years now use it for leaf blowing and ( if you have a LAB. ) mine is yellow and he loves to ride in the car or truck. I give the rides a good cleaning with it, Also blow the snow off in the winter. Very handy tool.

Well I'll tell ya you can't go wrong with a Stihl...yep expensive but look at it this way...you've read my post...So you know I hammer equipment, Im a  weight challenged ;)   58yr old woman carrying that big back pack around up and down the hill with bad knees. 2 miles, a couple of times a year....So obviously not that heavy or hard to use and starts on 1st or second pull. If that doesn't convince you nothing will...lol

Stihl....   I just bought my wife one to use in the horse barn and she loves it..   I am amazed at how powerful it is for the size and wait..   Also has the "easy start" which is great...   Think we paid $279...

We have gone thru many home depot/lowes units..   this one will last a long time!

I'll confess to buying the cheaper ones, never spent over $100.00.........last one was a Homelite and currently have a Ryobi, Homelite lasted about 6 years and Ryobi is probably close to that age right now. They both worked well for the price.

The loggers and pro firewood cutters all have their favorite saw brands (pro-quality saws, obviously): Stihl, Husqvarna, Dolmar, Jonsered, Echo... and they'll defend them to the end.

I've never met a pro landscaper/lawnkeeper who didn't have a rack of Stihl trimmers and blowers on his trailer. Never.

Buy once, cry once.

When you you plan your day and travel to your hunting camp expecting your tool to work for you, non-stop, for as long as you can keep working the tool, you don't want the tool to crap out on you.

Yikes! That reads like a Viagra ad.

I'm a verrrry bad man. Mea Culpa.
