Ok I'll only post "live from everywhere else in the world but the woods" from now on. I was just sharing some excitement. Haven't seen him again but there's always tomorrow while I'm "live from work"

I figure bouncing on the phone off and on keeps me stiller and on stand longer so it's a wash. For me anyway.

Well just got back from the woods and its been an interesting day. My day started off with a spotting 2 fawns and an albino doe right in front of the landowners house. Got to the stand and sliced my pinky on my broadhead and I must have hit a superficial vein cause i had blood all over the place. Well I didn't want to bloody my phone so i decided to check out my trail cam pics...found out the neighbor is trespassing here as well and decided to check out my trail cams and delete a bunch of pics. I was getting deer pics every day on that cam and then once he comes through nothing for a month. Also caught him with a rifle during the youth hunt and no kid in sight anywhere. This is the same guy who drove to my stand from his house just to complain about people trespassing on land that's not his anyway. I guess you can't fix stupid right? Ill be knocking on his door since not only did he trespass, he was hunting with a rifle during bow season, he deleted pics from two cams and rotated one cams position by 90 degrees. Although I did get pics of 2 decent bucks from one of those cams after he messed with it. One of them has a double main beam and some real junk. Sorry for the long post.

Listen to yourself, your excuses are embarrassing to listen to. Even is my area where deer are as scarce as reports say, I still see does constantly- and the deer that started this discussion was a 6 month old male, so small it will be tagged as a doe.

Just for your info I am 9 straight years of harvesting a 6-12 point buck on state land, with pressure all around me. Hunting thick forest, no food plot, no private land, and it is no problem for me to harvest a mature buck every year. So no there is no excuse for someone to shoot a deer the size of my Boxer.

I fought very hard keeping our Country safe as a Ranger, every mass casualty incident I have been in I always saved women and children first, I WILL NEVER encourage a fawn being killed. Take pride in what you harvest, not an adolescent with no chance.

I look forward to the day NYS instates a 3 point minunum

Being such an expert you should be able to tell that Elmo's buck is most likely a late dropped fawn from last year making in a 1.5 yr old. Fawns don't grow spikes but I'm sure you knew that.

So you have killed bucks the same age as him yet claim to be a super hunter. That's right those 6's are 1.5's too.

You are are an embarrassment to hunting.

That's not 100% correct. If you are bow hunting you are not allowed to possess a firearm of any sort. According to the DEC that is.

Yea about 15 years ago was comming back to the car with my bow during fall turkey season I think actually cant even remember but the dec pulls up as I'm leaving public land parking lot putting the bow away in the truck and he noticed that I had  shotgun  cased  also in the truck and the guy made a big deal about that I had both of them in  the trunk with me then he asked if I had any slugs on me I said know  only number 6shot and turkey loads   and I even told him he could search the car and me to look . long story short I didn't  have any slugs in the car and he told me just make sure you never have them both  a  bow aND a  shotgun with slugs on you  even if its in  case. Because  we may think you using the shotgun for deer in bow season or something like that .  I just never keep both in the truck after that experience.

I'm in 3N. Can only carry rifle outside of all deer seasons. Otherwise need to use shotgun for predator hunting.

Dude you won't make too many friends here with that attitude. We pride ourselves with not giving any one crap for a legally harvested deer! Until you start inviting people over to your land and start buying peoples licenses for them, I don't think you have the right to tell someone what they should be shooting. Also this deer is legal to shoot in an AR zone by anyone with a DMP. As long as its "legally" a doe it can be shot.

Had a busy day! Very productive but went home empty handed. I picked a upper ridge spot near game trail for pm sit. With a few minutes left to day light I heard some crunching behind me. I couldn't see anything so I thought. Oh another jackass squirrel. But I watched that spot and a good size doe appeared from the brush. Then I hear more crunching and a big ass doe shows up. Then another one! Mind you I have no shot. It's behind me so the tree I was in is right in front of my stomach. I'm waiting and one of them starts walking towards a clearing . But turns up and pretty much walks right below me but thick sticks and twigs and leaves are in my way. Then one of the others starts walking towards the clearing. Yes! I get ready to shoot. I have a good line and let it rip. Missed.... but none ran away. They just walked a little away and looked at each other and then walked away together.
So although I missed it found a nice spot that the does travel. Where there are does there should be bucks. So I'm going home to practice shooting and hopefully I have better luck next weekend.

Yea in 3n you can use a .22 rimfire at least in the public lands  I hunt there I see guys with .22 all the time  but definitely not during regular gun seasons in putnam its shotgun only for deer . That means you can only use a shotgun during regular  deer season there .

Had a scrub 4 or come in as well tonight in 3s. He was supposed to cross the little creek in one spot and decided to bushwhack a new trail. Dummy! Circled right behind me and through some thick cover. Why not just walk the trail for me!!!

      Hi Everyone,
It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!!

      best of holiday wishes!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas? Is there anywhere better in the area I should check out? Any info is welcome

      Hi Everyone,
My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
